Whether you are coming from Barrie or Botswana, you can get involved in global discussions with people from more than 100 countries right on campus. At Trent, you are part of a vibrant community that will support you in your studies, and beyond.

Trent values indigeneity and the knowledge, perspective, and voice students of Indigenous heritage bring to the Trent community. All students benefit from Trent’s leadership in Indigenous knowledge and culture.

Go Global: Study Abroad Your doorway to an amazing world view, TIP has several programs for you to choose from, each giving you a unique opportunity to get to where you want to go.

First Peoples House of Learning

Fit a semester or a year abroad seamlessly into your university experience through a formal exchange. Pay your normal Trent tuition and ancillary fees and the tuition fees are waived at the host university. You can also spend a summer abroad or take advantage of many international internship and volunteer abroad opportunities. Choose from more than 40 countries, from Australia to Wales. Visit the TIP Office to get started on your global adventure. Is English Your Second Language? English for University offers intensive English language preparation for university success. See page 35. Our Commitment to International Students The Global Citizen Scholarships and awards recognize the contributions you make to your school, nation, and global community. These highly competitive awards are awarded each year to exceptional international scholars who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and community service involvement. In addition to the financial support provided, we will also invite you to participate in additional extracurricular programs, seek out campus mentors to help you achieve your leadership goals, and attend regular forums where you can meet other like-minded scholars.

The First Peoples House of Learning, located in the Enweying building at Gzowski College, is a bustling centre of activity that connects to local First Nations communities and provides special services, support and a home away from home for Indigenous students from all over the world. For non-Indigenous students, it’s a place to build awareness and to become immersed in many new and traditional cultural experiences.

Contact First Peoples House of Learning for more information: trentu.ca/fphl Indigenous Diploma Programs The Indigenous Diploma Program at Trent University is a program for applicants of Indigenous ancestry who wish to pursue university level studies, who may not have taken a traditional academic path towards postsecondary education, and who may benefit from studying in a supportive academic atmosphere for Indigenous students. Find out more on page 34. Trent University Native Association Trent University Native Association (TUNA) is a long-standing student-run group, whose main focus is to create cultural awareness and support for Indigenous students within and outside the University. TUNA sponsors events that foster a safe environment for expression, such as a yearly Pow-Wow, and are key supporters of the Traditional Elders Gathering.
