LA DOLCE VITA

The Season October to May

By Bill Dougherty Welcome back! We hope you had a great summer. While the majority of you were somewhere working on your tans on far away beaches; Vicki Vaughn, this year’s Evening of Trends chairman and her committee, worked throughout the summer. Our big event will be held on October 13th at Montelucia and they have made T-Gen our beneficiary for the next two years or more. The Trends Charitable Fund Focus is now on rare childhood diseases and ovarian cancer. The switch for the TCF has received overwhelming support. The community has reached out to them and to the magazine with countless cards, letters and emails in favor of the groundbreaking decision. While the participants were all featured in ball gowns as you’ve seen on the cover, the ladies decided to sport corporate wear for the inside pages. I was reluctant to acquiesce to this but then again how could anyone not acquiesce to Carolyn Jackson. You get the picture? Famed Australian jeweler designer Margot McKinney showcased some of the most heart-stopping jewelry imaginable. Everybody swooned! When the shoot finally wrapped later that day and all the treats from Vincent’s were obliterated, I went to retrieve my car. All I could think of was the television show Dallas. The fictional Ewing family drove autos with identical license plates. Remember; “Ewing 1,” Ewing 2” and on and on. Well, Mrs. Jackson has done the same thing for past Heart Ball chairs with proceeds from her Driven Hearts inspiration benefiting the American
