KILMANIAN IS TURNING HEADS The award-winning Kilmanian Hair Studio is turning heads with its reputation for excellence, personal attention and life-transforming cuts and colour. From the moment you enter Kilmanian’s luxuriously private rococo salon, you’re treated like a VIP. Under the direction of Dean Morrice, who recently won the prestigious Young Male Talent for Scotland award at the INAA Hair & Beauty Awards, the relaxing retreat has built up a phenomenal reputation for flattering cuts and colour work.
Now’s a great time to get out of the gym, or off the couch and get outside! Running is an easy way to get fit, so here are our tips for beginners…
Dean explained, ‘I give each client one to one service - from consultation, scalp massage and a fabulous new hair style, to suit each specific lifestyle and personality. My goal is to make my clients look and feel fantastic.’ For the gentlemen, Dean and Colin have The Barber Stop, a popular walk-in barbershop for local residents and time-pressed workers based in Altens and Tullos.
> Warm up with some walking and do some squats, lunges, and calf raises. > Start with a mixture of brisk walking and jogging a couple of times a week. Take a stopwatch and jog for a minute followed by a minute of walking. Aim for 16 minutes, then build it up with longer runs. COLIN & DEAN MORRICE > Run on paths and in parks rather than pavements to reduce the stress on your joints. > Use apps like Endomondo and mapmyrun to map your routes and track progress. > Join your gym’s jogging club or find a group at jogScotland. > Always stretch your calves, quads, and hamstrings at the end of your run. Good luck and enjoy the spring and summer getting into the best shape of your life!
