Dear Resident

Acting Town Clerk: Susan Glossop

Welcome to the Summer edition of the Town Council newsletter. The Town Council were very pleased that the Jubilee Celebrations were such a success and so well supported. There was such a buzz in the town with so many people enjoying themselves, and it was such a relief that the day was fine. There are so many people and businesses to thank in making the day a success, so a very big thank you to every-one who gave either time, funding and support. On the following pages you will find news relating to forthcoming events which will happen through the summer. The Red Lion has now reopened with J D Wetherspoon as the tenant, it is good to see the building refurbished and in use again. In August work will start on the enhancements to the area outside Boots in King’s Street, this will create an area for performing arts and events. This work is based on the public consultation event held on the 27th February in King Street. The completion date for the work is mid November. In accordance with the Localism Act 2011 (Chapter 20) which has made significant changes to the standard regime to the code of conduct for Local Councils, Thetford Town Council has adopted the Breckland code of conduct. This can be viewed on the Town Council website. The register of Councillors disclosable pecuniary interest and other registrable interests will be published on the Breckland website which will have a link to the Town Council website. There will also be hard copies available at the Town Council offices. To keep up to date and informed you can attend the Council meetings which are held in the Council Chamber, King’s House.
