What’s Up, Doc?

Fitness has never been foreign to Dr Michael Mol. The Top Billing presenter and businessman always looks like he could tackle a physical challenge with confidence. As any finisher – or better still, non-finisher – will tell you, the ABSA Cape Epic isn’t quite your average physical challenge. Here’s how Mol is preparing for the 2010 edition of this tough event.

ou’re clearly a healthy, fit guy. What activities did you incorporate in your regular fitness routine in the past?

Ever since reading a Harvard Study on exercise intensity I’ve been a big believer in shortduration, high-intensity exercise (interval or surge training) and steered clear of the long-duration, low-intensity stuff – which really suited my lifestyle (and schedule). This approach to exercise meant that I generally did the flash and dash stuff – which really boiled down to running, occasional riding and a Powerplate at home with an occasional Dusi canoe marathon or Ultra marathon thrown in for good conscience.
