I DIG MAKING THINGS

I try to make something every day. Pouring concrete toys for my kids, spraypainting a stencil, fixing the fence - I am currently working on a childrens book and a tshirt range - the things that I make are what makes me who I am.

WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT ARCHITECTURE IS

I really enjoy meeting new clients, exploring new sites, and working alongside good builders. I love that moment when an idea begins to emerge and you crack some key aspect of a design, it’s the best thing.

IMAGINE A WORLD FILLED WITH GOOD DESIGN

I believe the world needs good design that goes beyond what is or was known. I am drawn to the principals of permaculture, in the way observation and adaptive re-use is essential for regeneration. Architects could learn from these principals in ways that providing clients with new realities. The best projects I have seen hold a global appeal, whilst exhibiting long lasting materials, clever use of energy and treading lightly on the earth.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

I surf, sail, run and swim. I take lots of photos. I enjoy time spent adventuring with my two kids. I get a lot of nourishment from my involvement with local Permaculture Gardens. As a born and raised Aucklander, I have travelled widely but love this city. I am here to stay and make it a better place.

The design honoured the cultural, social, educational and lifestyle needs of future tenants with shared gardens, study spaces, outdoor living, passive solar design & new material technologies. These homes were prefabricated & transported to site, providing a quality product above market standard on a tight budget.
