Award-winning poet and playwright Inua Ellams (Barber Shop Chronicles, The Half-God of Rainfall ) presents Search Party, an interactive, audience-led poetry event at the Traverse.
Blurring the line between artist and audience, Ellams draws from his vast archive of poems, plays, and essays stored on his tablet. The audience chooses a word, and Ellams uncovers written gems – whether polished pieces or works-in-progress.
Inspired by suggestions and open dialogue, this spontaneous performance evolves in real-time, blending traditional storytelling with a modern twist, creating a unique, dynamic experience each night..
‘Like his theatrical work, Search Party shows Ellams’s versatility and fearlessness as an artist who’s willing to take risks, especially in a show like this, which by its nature will never be the same twice.’ THEATRE MANIA

Hilarious and heart breaking this remarkable road trip will delight and surprise.
Featuring James’ captivating mix of storytelling, comedy and music (as well as Shakespeare’s Hamlet) this remarkable road trip follows his critically acclaimed run at 2023’s Edinburgh Festival, the sell-out show Learning to Fly and The Songs of Friendship Trilogy.
James has been touring his storytelling theatre shows for half his adult life. This year was different though. Returning home after his first stint away, he received a letter that exploded his life, and the tour became a search: for the person who sent it, for a sense of home, and to maybe save a life.
