Spanish Presence in Caribbean Hotel Industry More than 200 hotels are managed in the Caribbean area by some 20 of the most important Spanish hotel chains. Meliá, Iberostar, Riu, Barceló, Bahía Príncipe and Occidental head the list. The Mexican Caribbean, Dominican Republic and Cuba assimilate around 94% of the hotels under management contracts with the Spanish companies. 16
