Uganda is a country with a rich culture, and understanding local customs can help travelers have a respectful and enjoyable experience.
People are warm and welcoming, but as everywhere, it is important to respect local traditions and social norms Since Uganda is predominantly Christian with a significant Muslim population, modest clothing is appreciated This is especially true in rural areas or when visiting religious sites Women are advised to avoid clothing that reveals too much Tip: Keep the warm temperatures in mind, but be prepared A light scarf in your bag makes it easy to adjust your outfit quickly if needed.
Most accommodations provide a laundry service.
MOSQUITOES ALSO LOVE THE TROPICAL CLIMATE
Keep mosquito repellent in your daypack so it is always at hand. Mosquitoes are most active during sunrise and sunset. Protect yourself during these times with covering clothing and spray.
We recommend using a repellent with 20% Icaridin or 50% DEET*, available at the pharmacy. In addition to repellent, also take malaria tablets.
*Note: Do you have sensitive skin? Then choose Icaridin It is odorless, feels less greasy, and does not damage plastic Both ingredients are equally effective
Bring a backpack or travel bag instead of a suitcase During the road trip, you travel a lot, and a soft bag is much more practical and easier to carry
It’s nice to be well-prepared so you can fully enjoy Uganda!
