Jungle Adventure In Jim Corbett National Park A trip to Jim Corbett National Park is something that every wildlife enthusiast dreams of and if one can spot the king of the jungle here, the trip becomes an experience to be cherished forever. At 260 kilometres from Delhi, it is perfect for a short break away from the city’s hustle and bustle and in the midst of the wild. Located on the foothills of the Himalayas and named after the famous hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett, the Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India. It was established in the year 1936 with aim to preserve and conserve wildlife, particularly the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger. The park, covering an area of 520.8 sq. km, is now an important attraction for Indian as well as foreign tourists who come here to fulfil their desires of seeing wildlife in their natural habitat. It is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna and splendid landscapes that offer the best kind of jungle adventure. Tourism activities are however, limited to selected areas of the reserve and are subject to strict rules and regulations. Safari Zones Corbett National Park has separate zones that serve as an entry to the park. They were created to manage the heavy tourist inflow. The four safari zones include Dhikala Zone Entry Gate: Dhangadi Gate Best time to visit: November to June This is the most largest zone and has several accommodation facilities but you need to make your booking well in advance, atleast prior to 40-45 days of your visit. This zone is also very scenic and is known for best wildlife sightings which include tigers, elephants, deer and cobra. Jhirna Zone Entry Gate: Dhela Gate Best time to visit: October to June This important zone, 16 kilometres from Ramnagar, is particularly famous for providing the sight of sloth bear and wild boar, though it is also a good habitat for tiger, leopard and deer. Bijrani Zone Entry Gate: Amdanda Gate Best time to visit: October to June Bijrani is an exciting zone endowed with stretches of grassland as well as dense forests. The chances of tiger sightings and other animal encounters are relatively higher in this zone. Durga Devi Zone Entry Gate: Durga Devi Gate Best time to visit: November to June
