Zermatt, Switzerland Zermatt is Europe’s highest ski resort, surrounded by the tallest peaks in the Alps and situated at the foot of the Matterhorn Mountain. When it comes to skiing, it doesn’t get much better than Zermatt – there’s year-round snow and 360km of piste to take advantage of, with some altitudes reaching over 10,000ft. Courchevel, France This upmarket French Alps resort is located in the centre of the world’s largest interconnected ski area, offering some excellent snow conditions. Courchevel boasts 150km of ski runs which are served by 58 lifts, so there are great opportunities for both beginners and advanced skiers here. Away from the slopes, Courchevel consists of four small villages with numerous Michelin starred restaurants, over 100 boutique shops, an array of bars and clubs and a wide variety of accommodation options. St Anton, Austria St Anton is situated in the heart of the Arlberg mountain range, offering a great selection of slopes which are particularly aimed at intermediate to expert skiers, with an intense terrain of 280km and excellent off piste conditions. Off the slopes, there is a historical village to explore with a superb range of dining, shopping and accommodation options. What really sets this ski resort apart is the wild après-ski experiences on offer – there are endless amounts of lively night spots in St Anton. Cortina d'Ampezzo Cortina d'Ampezzo is surrounded by the snow-capped Dolomites, offering the most stunning ski setting. The resort hosted the 1956 Olympics and has since become a premier ski destination, offering some amazing skiing conditions for all skill levels and plenty of other winter sports and activities. Cortina d’Ampezzo also has a charming old town filled with Italian cafes, shops and historic buildings. The resort’s après-ski scene is pretty laid back, with a choice of wine bars, pubs and cocktail lounges to spend the evening.
