The journey many of our communities have faced since when we launched the submission page on February 11th, we received numerous messages to extend the deadline to submit letters as our state leaders continued to politicize and threaten the lives of Trans and Gender Expansive community members. In response, TENT had received an outpour of submissions from around the world, totaling in nearly 750 digital and physical love letters in the following months.
The reality of trans people, especially for Black, Indigenous, and brown trans women and femmes, continues to be one in which our state leaders continue to fail to protect in the state of Texas. If you don’t see your love letter included or if your information is covered, we want to ensure your safety by including them in other iterations of this program or removing any identifying information.
Nevertheless, this first volume we will be sharing contains the unique and beautiful words and illustrations of people that reflect the myriad of human experiences
