Dear members,
It’s an honor and privilege to serve you as President this year. I want to thank Tony Delmonte for his outstanding leadership during the year. I am grateful to him and the other outgoing board members Derek Zgoda and Jonathon Sinatra for their service during their three-year terms on the Board.
I also want to welcome Omar Abdallah, Keith Belote, and Chris Finley to the Board of Governors. Their diverse professional backgrounds will be a great addition to my very talented fellow board members. I am excited to serve with our other officers in moving forward the Transit Valley mission to provide a premier experience to our members and guests in a family friendly environment. I believe that our mission and its execution by staff and membership has been a key driver of our success in increasing membership and participation.
It’s a bittersweet time for me as incoming President. It goes without saying that much of the success above would not have been accomplished without Tina Gutekunst filling multiple roles. We couldn’t have been any luckier to have her as our General Manager over the last three years. Her dedication, compassion, and devotion to staff, members and guests has made Transit Valley what it is. Thank you.
As I said, its bittersweet. I am happy to have Chris Myslow our new General Manager and Chief Operating Officer on board here in October. I want to thank Pat Clabeaux and the search committee on bringing Chris to Transit Valley. Welcome, Chris.
While our golf season is coming to an end, I remain excited about the condition of the golf course and can’t wait for the new irrigation system that will be installed in the spring. The irrigation committee is working hard with Adam, and his team, on the details.
I look forward to seeing all of you during the coming months as we enter the Holiday season. The staff always does a great job in decorating the club and making it feel like your home away from home. Again, thank you for supporting our great club.
2November FROM THE DESK OF YOUR PRESIDENT
Christopher M. Myslow
It has been my distinct pleasure to meet so many members here at Transit Valley Country Club. The quality and kindness of the membership here is simply amazing. I feel extremely comfortable and look forward to serving your interests and further improving the club.
I wanted to thank the Board of Directors for their continued support of key initiatives here at TVCC. The irrigation project will be a “game changer” for the club. Though it is not easy to see (being underground), the new system will enhance Adam’s ability to control growth and will provide cover in areas on the course that have never been irrigated. We appreciate your support through this project. It is our commitment to you to communicate as many details as possible about the project. The goal is to have minimal disruption as the project is completed. If there are any questions on the irrigation project, please contact myself or Adam.
November is always a transition month in the club business. The weather will certainly dictate many of our decisions regarding golf operations. Please stay tuned to our ForeTees notifications regarding any frost delays or closures. November is also an exciting time for friends and families to gather. I hope that you keep the club in mind as a gathering place. My team is hard at work preparing menus and plans for the holiday season. I am extremely fortunate to have such wonderful leaders and a great staff to make our guest experience the best it can be.
In closing, I wanted to thank Mr. Delmonte for his leadership here at Transit Valley. The club has experienced tremendous growth during his tenure and is on very solid ground thanks to his diligence. Mr. Benedetti and I will work closely together with the Board to ensure that Mr. Delmonte’s legacy is well represented. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Kids’ Club Director Angela Staszak
On Friday, October 7th, we kicked off our fall season of family fun with our annual pumpkin decorating event. We welcomed forty children and their families to this sold-out event where the children let their creativity shine! Following dinner and decorating, the children participated in making fall themed jewelry and coloring Halloween pictures. Finally, the evening ended with a viewing of the newly released Hocus Pocus 2 on our mega screen. A huge thank you to all of the families who helped make this a wonderful event. As Transit Valley continues to grow, I highly recommend signing up early for our family events to ensure you are guaranteed a spot. We cannot wait to see you!
In order to better serve the youngest members of TVCC, we would like to create a Kids’ of TVCC photo album which will be displayed in Kids’ Club. This album will include the children and grandchildren of all members. If you would like to include your family, please email me one photo of your children altogether at: astaszak@transitvalley.com. Please include: their first and last name and current age. We will be accepting submissions through the end of November.

A Message from the Women’s Committee Paula Orlowski President
My name is Paula Orlowski, and it is an honor to introduce myself as the new Women’s Committee President. My husband, Norm, and I have been members of TVCC for the past sixteen years and have enjoyed golf as well as many other events and activities at the club.
My first two years on the Women’s Committee were in the roles of Membership Chair and more recently Vice-President. It is a pleasure working with a great team of women, and I look forward to working with them this coming year in the role of President. I would like to thank our outgoing members, Pat Clabeaux, Cindy Fohrd and Andrea Rubino for their contributions, commitment, and generosity of time to the Women’s Committee over the past three years. I would also like to welcome our three new committee members, Jill Belote, Carolyn Nerber, and Beth Vullo who will join our returning committee members Karen Dobos, Kelly Longo, Annette Mills, Fran Palermo, and Julie Swiatkowski.
The Women’s Committee had a busy start to the fall season which was kicked off by our fall Dinner on October 6th. The agenda included the announcement of our three new committee members, and Lynne Stevens announced the results of the Women’s Charity Golf Event with a $36,800 check presented to the Child Advocacy Center. We also announced that Home of My Own of WNY will be the beneficiary Charity for next year’s Golf Event and heard from TVCC member, Ellen Pachioli, and Connie Stives who are the Founding Directors of this inspirational organization. Please visit their website at homeofmyownofwny.org to learn more.
The Ladies’ Flower Pumpkin Centerpiece Party held on October 13th sold out and was a great success. If you missed out on this one, or were unable to attend, please consider participating in the Holiday Centerpiece Event which will take place on December 1st.
We are thinking ahead and currently working on our schedule of events for 2023. Our goal is to provide a variety of events and something for everyone to enjoy. The Women’s Committee welcomes and encourages all ladies to participate in the social, entertainment, golf, and cultural activities we have to offer here at TVCC. I hope to see and meet many of you at one of them!
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

A Message from The Golf Professional Jonathan Decker, PGA Head Golf Professional
As we put the finishing touches on another great golf season at Transit Valley, and with Thanksgiving just around the corner, let’s take a moment to reflect on our favorite golf memories of the season. Whether it was shooting a personal best score, making your first career hole-in-one, playing a bucket list course, or taking a grandchild out for their first round – there is so many things to be thankful for from this great game. One such special memory that was recently shared with me was the hole-in-one made by Nicholas Bordonaro on his wedding day while playing alongside his father Dominick and two relatives in Charleston, SC.
My staff and I are often asked by parents which tees or where should junior golfers play from. To help answer this question, we will be adding two new “junior” tees for next season which will afford our younger golfers a better playing experience and most importantly have more fun! While the colors have yet to be determined, both sets of tees will feature an official slope and rating for score posting purposes. Over the winter we will be planning more fun-filled junior and family golf events for the upcoming season with the hopes of seeing players young and old enjoy their time together on the links.

Score posting for rounds played in Western New York ended on Monday, October 31st. Please continue to post hole-by-hole scores for rounds played in areas deemed “in-season” during the winter months. Florida, Texas, California, Arizona, and the Carolinas are parts of the country that post year-round. When posting hole-by-hole, most handicap apps will automatically adjust individual hole scores in excess of net double bogey. If posting total scores (not recommended), please make sure to adjust the score for any holes with strokes taken in excess of net double bogey (gross score – handicap strokes = net score).

A Message from the Greens Superintendent Adam Mis
Fall/Winter is in full effect. We will be busy getting the course ready for winter. Chopping leaves, irrigation system blow out, topdressing, and finishing any projects we can before the white stuff comes. We are in process of planting the fence line along the streets of the property. We hope in a few years as the plants get larger and grow together, they will start hiding the fence in the summer months and provide nice seclusion to the golf course.
We will continue to remove dead and dying trees throughout the fall and winter. The Ash trees will only get unsightly and become safety hazards as they die off. We are hoping to move soil to areas of the course where new tees will be on the master plan prior to installation. This way the contractor will be able to irrigate these areas correctly and we will not need to move irrigation at a later date. Irrigation parts are still arriving and hopefully the pipe will arrive soon. The placement of the 2” spools of pipe will be stored at the grounds’ department and the larger pipe will be staged at the triangle of grass between #8/#9 /#18. This way the contractor will have access to the entire course for installation.
We are looking forward to a great fall/winter so everyone can get out and enjoy everything TVCC has to offer.
We have hired a new assistant to replace Renee who left last month to become a sheriff. Peter Leising was promoted to this position. He has worked at TVCC since the spring and has worked at Brookfield Country Club for me years ago and did stints at Monroe GC and Audubon GC. He is excited about getting the opportunity to advance and keep moving TVCC forward with the goal to make this the best club in the region.
Dear Members & Co-workers, I have enjoyed my time at TVCC and I want to thank everyone for your kind words and praise. It was the job I enjoyed the most, as I told many of you it was truly a labor of love. However, life is short, and my bucket list is long. A special thanks to Adam and the golf crew. A great bunch of guys and the course never looked better. So, I leave you in the more than capable hands of Andrew. He will do great.
Cyndi Rutter, Horticulturist

A Message from the Greens Chair Geoffrey G. Burker
While TVCC has enjoyed a great year, I think we have just as much to look forward to in 2023. As Greens Chair, I cannot help but think about and look forward to the implementation of a new irrigation system. You will begin seeing inklings of material and work late this fall. Along the way, communication will be critical and we’ll work hard to keep you up to date on timing and any other implications or changes. The other noteworthy work happening around the course is the implementation of new tee boxes. The tee boxes are a result of our partnership with golf course architect, Mark Mungeam. As great as Adam’s work on the course has been, his industry partnerships, such as the one with Mark may be just as valuable. In discussions with Mark, there are several reasons for the new tee boxes.
1. Maintenance. It’s always been apparent to Adam and quickly apparent to Mark that our tee boxes are woefully undersized - typically thought of in relationship to green size. Tee boxes with minimal teeing space can lead to poor appearance and playability, no matter the maintenance attention they are paid – think of the old forward tee box on 9. By adding other tee boxes and square footage we can offer relief to tee boxes that are otherwise difficult to maintain.
2. Playability. When we met Mark we gave him the long term strategic plan of the club and emphasized the importance of TVCC’s mission as a family club. New tees will provide us with the option of introducing a new set of tees to enhance playability, ensuring that golf is fun at every skill level and commensurate with our mission as a family club.
3. Options. Many of us play most of our rounds at TVCC. By adding new tee boxes we can offer you a little different look from time to time. Assuredly, this will introduce new strategies and new shots for some of you on occasion, but playing the course as you find it and understanding risk and reward are principles of the game.
With some labor challenges this year we did have work interrupted. Adam and his team try to avoid work left partially done and I know that they were addressed as quickly as conditions and resources permitted, nonetheless, we’ll work to avoid in the future. The bigger picture of course is that we’ll have more options with a better presentation than ever before, something we should all look forward to.

1921 Room (Previously the Formal Dining Room) & Ballroom
Country Club Attire will be acceptable consisting of collared shirts for men and appropriate women’s attire. Sport coats are optional but encouraged. The intent is to not allow denim. However, denim will be permissible if the Grill Room has reached its maximum capacity.
Club/Special Events
Dress codes will be defined for all Club/Special Events and will be communicated in the newsletter
Members are encouraged to consider common sense when making casual-attire decisions. We prefer our members dress-up rather than dress-down when visiting the Club. While we expect that members will use good taste and judgment, the Board has directed Club Management to discreetly review any inappropriate casual attire decisions directly with the member to ensure that the Club maintains a casual environment that is enjoyable for everyone.
Unacceptable Clubhouse Attire: Yoga pants, leggings,t-shirts, shorts, and athletic attire
