Dear Members,

I hope you had a peaceful and joyous holiday season. Many of us had our children and other family members visiting us during the holidays which made for a very busy time at the Club. It was so nice to see many of you during the month of December. Now that 2022 has ended, many of us tend to reflect on the past year and what we learned from it helps us think about what will continue to serve us into the future or things we might need to change. It also helps us recognize what we are grateful for in our lives and how to honor this going forward. Here’s to a successful 2022 and a fantastic 2023!

Many of you will be traveling or spending time in warmer climates the next few months. While the Club will have limited access, the staff will be taking full advantage of this time to complete some deep cleaning and maintenance items throughout the Clubhouse.

If you have been at the Club recently, you have no doubt noticed all of the materials that are being stored in our parking lot for the Irrigation Project. We continue to move forward in the planning of this very important project as a lot goes on in the background to get ready for the work to commence in the spring.

Thank you for your continued support. Again, Best Wishes and a Happy New Year!

Christopher M. Myslow

I hope all of you enjoyed a wonderful and healthy holiday season!

It was our distinct pleasure to host and serve so many guests throughout our many December activities. In fact, the two Brunches with Santa and the Gingerbread House Decorating Party brought nearly 1,000 guests to experience Transit Valley. My continued thanks to our dedicated staff, which provided such great service. Guest satisfaction reached all-time highs thanks to our food preparation and banquet services team delivering on every occasion.

As many of you are aware, the months of January and February now give us the opportunity to catch up on various cleaning and maintenance projects, as well as time to work on the details for the forthcoming Club season. Based on this planning, I am excited to say that 2023 will be a banner season at Transit Valley.

In the coming days, we will release the 2023 golf calendar, which is packed with many events for member participation. On an important note, careful consideration has also been given to more open play golf options for our members as well. Our pool will be ready to go for Memorial Day Weekend and we hope that everyone will be ready to start the new year off here at TVCC.

Please keep a close eye out for email updates informing you about all the special events at TVCC. Our members are the lifeblood of Transit Valley and our goal is to provide world class service to each of you.

If you have any ideas or suggestions on how to make everyone’s TVCC experience even better, please do not hesitate to reach out. The team here at TVCC is fully dedicated to a memorable 2023 season and I am empowering each department to be even stronger this season for you.

I hope that you continue to enjoy all that Transit Valley Country Club has to offer.

Who will you be referring to become a member in 2023? Even though there is snow on the ground, and it’s cold, please take a moment and think about someone who you may want to introduce as a possible member at your club. Then, simply pass their name to me – tinag@transitvalley.com.

Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing

A Message from our Assistant General Manager

Brandon Sears

What a holiday season it has been! It was nice to have a sense of normalcy during the holidays for the first time in quite a while! As we head into January, Joe will be working with our Food and Beverage team to focus on pushing our service standards to the next level.

We have a great Bourbon Night planned for Wednesday, January 18 followed, by our first Pappy Van Winkle Dinner in February. Be sure to sign up fast, as seating for both events are limited!

As happy as the holiday season was for us around the club, it was also bittersweet as we will be wishing farewell to Sarah Paul our Food and Beverage Captain, with 10 years of service and hard work to Transit Valley, as well as Joanne Gould our Pastry Chef with 5 years of service. Thank you both, for all you have done!

This time of year also allows us to work on new projects to enhance the member experience. We will be implementing our new online reservation system, accessible through both the Transit Valley website and app. Please look for further details once the system is finalized. We will continue to accept reservations through phone and email and hosting an ‘appy hour’ or two to help guide you through the new program.

In February we will be bringing back Wine Wednesday with a select half priced wine by the bottle list! Be sure to lookout for further details and offerings. We look forward to seeing you around the club!

Let’s Talk Events! Transit Valley provides the perfect venue for all types of parties, whether you are celebrating a bridal shower, a baby shower, a graduation, or business dinner. Our professional staff will handle all your requests in order to plan a gathering that will be sure to please you and your guests.

Recently engaged or know someone who is, TVCC will make the perfect backdrop to your reception. Start with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the first tee overlooking the beautiful golf course, guests will then head into the ballroom for dinner and dancing.

The first step to any event is reserving the date, so let’s get started.

Women’s TVCC Bowling League

Our Fall 2022 Session is complete! Congratulations to our winning team: Lynne Stevens, Kate Casey, Karen Ganzenmuller and Candy Watson. They beat the second-place team by a total of 101 pins for the entire season.

Season results: High Game, Norine McIntyre; High Series, Paula Orlowski; High Handicap Game, Nancy Pohlman; and High Handicap Series, Kate Casey.

The last week of the session was our “No Tap” (9 on your first ball equals a strike) tournament. It was very exciting to watch Paula Orlowski score a 300! It was impressive that 6 of the strikes were not “No Tap”. Way to go, Paula!

Our next session starts Wednesday, January 4. We have several snowbirds in our group and always have room for new bowlers!

MISSION, VISION & VALUES

Mission: To create apartment communities tailored to independent individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who desire to live in a safe, social and integrated community with lifelong sustainability.

Vision: Our apartments are an inclusive, community-focused model. Readily available opportunities for socialization in and within close walking distance of their homes creates organic, meaningful interactions and opportunities that inspire the pathways to friendship and independence. Our community-centered location will provide easy accessibility to public transportation, employment opportunities, and leisure that will provide for life long sustainability.

Values: Supported housing options need to be diverse if a person’s rights are to be met.  Individuals have the right to live as independently as is possible, in an environment that is appropriate to them. They need housing in community-centered spaces and opportunities that promote inclusion. Individuals should not be deprived of any civil or legal rights because of a diagnosis of a developmental disability.  They deserve respect and dignity.

A Message from The Golf

Professional Jonathan Decker, PGA

Head Golf Professional

With 2022 now officially in the books, we have turned our focus to the new year and are preparing for another exciting golf season. Working alongside Mr. James Pohlman and the rest of the Golf Committee, we are currently assembling a great group of members to serve as event chairs for the upcoming season. While creating the 2023 Golf Calendar, much will appear the same, but there are a few changes to highlight, one being the creation of a new event – The Olde & The New, which will pair more tenured members with those that have joined more recently for a fun two-person event on Saturday, May 13th. After reviewing member feedback, the Thursday Night Men’s League will be contested over ten consecutive weeks in a single session starting Thursday, May 4th. On the ladies’ side, there will be a new event on Thursday, June 1st (Name TBD) for all players with the goal of creating a mixer as welcoming and inclusive as the Dirty Dozen.

A Message from the Greens Superintendent Adam Mis

It’s the start of the new year. We had a very busy 2022 season and 2023 will be even busier.

I believe we improved the overall course conditions and playability from 2021 while also moving forward with some Master Plan work in-house that will make the course even better in 2023.

Thank you for a wonderful year and with your continued support we can continue to make TVCC the best it can be into 2023 and beyond.

The raising of #15 fairway to keep from flooding #5 forward tee and #18 forward tees under construction.

We also planted over 1000 trees along Muegel and Paradise Roads. We hope in a few years the course will be somewhat of an oasis from the surrounding roads. This will also hide the hideous fence while still having the security the fence provides.

We were approved for the new irrigation system for 2023. We have received most of our parts and the pipe was delivered in December.

We hope for no more of these irrigation leaks once the new system is installed.

Country Club appropriate denim is defined as properly sized, in excellent condition, and dark in color(white or black denim is also acceptable). Country Club appropriate denim does not include holes or rips, fading or stonewash look, frayed material, denim shorts, jackets, skirts, dresses, work type denim shirts, or jeans that are worn extremely low cut. Tasteful and appropriate shirts and shoes must be worn. For men, denim must be paired with any tucked-in and collared shirt, sport coat or sweater.

Country Club Attire is also deemed appropriate which is defined as: Bermuda length shorts, sundresses, collared shirts for men and appropriate women’s attire.

1921 Room (Previously the Formal Dining Room) & Ballroom

Country Club Attire will be acceptable consisting of collared shirts for men and appropriate women’s attire. Sport coats are optional but encouraged. The intent is to not allow denim. However, denim will be permissible if the Grill Room has reached its maximum capacity.

Club/Special Events

Dress codes will be defined for all Club/Special Events and will be communicated in the newsletter

Members are encouraged to consider common sense when making casual-attire decisions. We prefer our members dressup rather than dress-down when visiting the Club. While we expect that members will use good taste and judgment, the Board has directed Club Management to discreetly review any inappropriate casual attire decisions directly with the member to ensure that the Club maintains a casual environment that is enjoyable for everyone.

Unacceptable Clubhouse Attire: Yoga pants, leggings,t-shirts, shorts, and athletic attire
