Education needs for the preschool and daycare program. Integration of children with and without special learning needs is shown through research to have advantages for all types of learners and is known as a best practice in preschool settings. Children benefit from building friendships with people who are different from themselves, and this arrangement fosters tolerance and empathy. Both groups learn valuable lessons from critical thinking and social skills instruction, in addition to the quality of academic programming. Children that are enrolled in the program for special education services are either diagnosed on the autism spectrum or can simply benefit from a behaviorally based educational program. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the fundamental approach for instruction at Crossroads Center for Children. In addition to the center-based school, Crossroads Center for Children also has an ABA Clinic; children with diagnoses of autism are seen on premises, or in their own homes and communities. Our Mission is to prepare individuals with and without developmental disabilities for life success within their family and community. Our Philosophy Crossroads Center for Children utilizes interventions from the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA), a branch of psychology and education with a foundation based on scientific analysis of human behavior and learning. Our Vision Every student we serve will achieve a full and productive life. Learn more about our programs, services and stories of progress at https://crossroadcenter.org

The Arc Lexington is a leader and innovator that provides supports and services to nearly 1300 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, epilepsy and traumatic brain injuries in Fulton, Albany and Schoharie Counties. Known for an environment that encourages and supports each person to attain their personal goals with the support of our dedicated staff, our programs and services have been recognized by the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) where we have been accredited with distinction for the second time in 2022. Lexington is only one of 10 agencies in the world receiving accreditation with distinction. Lexington's person-first approach puts the emphasis on each person's needs, wants and desires rather than their disability. From how we structure program activities to the language we use at our agency, we are committed to fostering an environment where the people we support are not only respected and valued, but also play an integral role in Lexington's day-to-day operations. Lexington continues to expand and diversify while remaining deeply committed to its core values and mission of excellence – making Lexington a great place for people with disabilities and for our employees.

Transitions students take college credit classes, participate in internships in local businesses to assess goals and develop career paths and build the skills to be independently successful in their adult life. With campuses and apartments in Fulton, Albany and Schoharie Counties, Transitions partners with area colleges and businesses to support the success of our students.

Wilcenski & Pleat PLLC is a law firm which concentrates its practice in the areas of special needs estate planning, special needs trust administration, traditional trust and estate administration, long term care planning and elder law. The firm helps clients navigate issues impacting individuals with disabilities of all ages and across the disability spectrum.

Founding partners Ed Wilcenski and Tara Anne Pleat both have family members with disabilities, and they designed their firm around three core concepts: competence in their chosen areas of practice, credibility among their peers and within the communities they serve, and continuity—clients rest assured that attorneys and staff will be here to provide expertise and service throughout the years ahead.

“We take this practice and the relationships that we build with our clients very seriously. Disability is life long, and unlike many areas of the law, our clients often choose our practice with the hope and expectation that we will be here for a family member with a disability long after the primary caregivers are gone. Every decision we make from the staff we hire to the professional relationships we build to the location of our office has been made with the idea of creating an infrastructure that will be here for our clients, for their families, and for their guardians and trustees for years to come.” Ed Wilcenski

The firm has two offices located near the scenic Adirondack Mountains. The main office is located in southern Saratoga County, just north of Albany. The second office is located in Queensbury in southern Warren County, just south of Lake George. While the firm is located in Eastern New York, attorneys and staff work with clients across New York State.
