From recognizing years of exceptional teaching and scholarship, to supporting current research, to attracting young teacher-scholars committed to excellence, to bringing renowned visiting professors and guest speakers to campus, the faculty endowment fund plays a significant role in maintaining and enhancing the University’s academic vitality. FUNDED POSITIONS It can be argued that no aspect of a university has greater potential as an engine of transformation than its faculty. Faculty endowment gifts can be designated for any of the following purposes: t Endowed Chairs: To fund the salary of distinguished teachers and scholars who are recognized leaders in their fields; the University’s highest honor t Endowed Professorships: To support teaching and research initiatives with a salary stipend for distinguished faculty scholars t Young Scholars and Artists Endowment: To attract talented young faculty and provide a stipend to support their artistic and scholarly development t Scholars- and Artists-in-Residence Endowment: To provide funds necessary to create short-term visiting appointments that will bring nationally renowned scholars and artists to Illinois Wesleyan
