He said he enjoys working with Brighter Christmas because he gets to work with Tracy’s other dedicated volunteers, including those who have helped feed and provide toys for needy families for more than 20 years. Communication between species sounds tricky, but Robert Endo has the knack for helping people understand canine motivations. “I realize that every dog and every owner is a little different,” he said.

It’s a strategy that earned him Best of the Best accolades last year, too. The theory works in one-on-one dog training and also translates to the group classes he hosts at Petco on Thursdays and Saturdays. Endo knew he had the ability to work with dogs a long time ago and has 25 years of experience, including five years with his own dog-training business, which also includes pet sitting and dog walking.

Along with those academic methods, she encourages students to get out and share their music, especially during the holidays. “They have a lot of goals they have to carry out, and they’re always performing,” Mizuno said.
