March | April 2022 A Bi-Monthly Newsletter From The Peninsula Club

Club Life

Welcome

Letter from General Manager Wow! Where has the time gone? Looking back over the first months of my tenure at The Peninsula Club, I can honestly say it has flown by. We have had a lot of progress on various fronts around the club and in operations. I would be remiss if I did not take the time to highlight those. First and foremost, we have initiated a substantial and much needed renovation project encompassing several different areas of the club. From golf and tennis, to parking lots, and the ability to have equitable access to certain amenities for all. “The Next Generation Renovation Project” is slated to begin work sometime in October, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed within a year. These additions and enhancements are to further cement The Peninsula Club as the premiere club north of Charlotte. We have opened The Veranda during the day to give our female membership a place to gather during the afternoon and spend quality time with each other. We have other initiatives we are working toward to increase the food and beverage experience while on the golf course. Stay tuned to see those coming this spring. Staffing has been a considerable hurdle throughout the past year. It is with great excitement, I can report we are seeing an increase in qualified applicants for our open positions. You will see new faces in housekeeping, food and beverage, and golf, please take a minute to say hello and introduce yourself. Beginning in January, we were able to reopen the Veranda on Wednesday evenings, back to the full evening schedule offered prior to COVID. I have held five different focus groups over the last month and half. These meetings have been instrumental in establishing the wants, needs, and desires of The Peninsula Club membership. We, as a management team, will take the feedback given and work towards putting in place the necessary procedures and training to make each experience here at The Peninsula Club the best it can possibly be. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve as your leader of this phenomenal club.

Phil Barber
