Join us as we explore the outdoors with camping galore. Children will be "camping" using camping gear such as tents, backpacks, cooking stove tops, and flashlights. We will fish and canoe down the Preschool River and make fun nature art projects. Make room for some yummy smores too!

The Town of Windsor is offering an opportunity for youth 11-15 years of age to participate in our camps through our Counselor-in-Training programs. This is a great opportunity to acquire work experience by assisting camp staff in the supervision, set-up and clean-up of activities, while sharing in the fun and excitement of the camp program. C.I.T.'s are required to attend every day of the session they sign up for.
There are two spaces open per week for C.I.T.s and one space for Jr. C.I.Ts. Participants can sign up for just one of the weeks offered. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.

Learn to fence and shoot a bow! This fun camp is created with the beginning fencer and archer in mind. Bringing the ancient art of dueling into the modern world, instructor Jim Liebich teaches the modern style of the exciting sport of fencing. Camp participants also get to learn how to shoot a bow, playing the fun game called Warbow. Warbow is like Dodgeball, but with bows and foam-tipped arrows. One incredible week of fencing, archery, cross-training, games and more will give students a solid foundation in these Olympic sports, and a summer camp experience they'll NEVER forget. All equipment is provided. Be sure to dress for exercise and bring a hefty snack.

The seven different Group lesson options listed below are held at the Windsor Senior Recreation Center (WSRC), located at 9231 Foxwood Drive in Windsor. They are available for youth ages 312. These Weekday group lessons are comprised of eight 25-minute lessons.
Tadpoles (3-4 yrs): An introductory-level water orientation class. Children will work on being comfortable in the water while learning basic skills such as breath holding, blowing bubbles, submerging the face by bobbing underwater, and supported kicking and floating. Class is taught on the pool steps.
Waterfrogs (4-5 yrs): Prerequisites: Must have passed Tadpoles and can hang on the wall the entire class. This class is taught away from the pool steps; students will not be able to touch the pool bottom. Skills in face submersion and breath control will be strengthened. Will be introduced to unsupported back and front floats, scooping, flutter kicking, and gliding.
Minnows (5-6 yrs): Prerequisites: Must have passed Waterfrogs. Skills in unsupported floating, flutter kicking, and gliding will be strengthened and students will be encouraged to swim independently for up to 10 yards. Introduction to elementary backstroke arms, front and back crawl, and swimming underwater
Sea Otters (6-9 yrs): Sea Otters is a beginning level class designed for the older child with no prior swim lesson experience. Children will be introduced to basic skills such as breath holding, submerging the face, front/back floats and crawl, side breathing, supported kicking, scooping and gliding. Upon successful completion of Sea Otters, students progress to Level 1.
Level 1 (5-9 yrs): Prerequisites: Must have passed Minnows or Sea Otters. Must be able to float and glide unassisted on their back and front (with face in water) for five yards. Skills in elementary backstroke arms and underwater swimming will be strengthened. Will be introduced to coordinated arm strokes and side-breathing for the front/back crawl.
Level 2 (6-12 yrs): Prerequisites: Level 1. Class is taught in deeper water; children must be comfortable swimming without support. Emphasis will be placed on improved side-breathing and endurance for front crawl. Students will be introduced to breaststroke arms and kicks, as well as backstroke kicks.
Level 3 (6-12 yrs): Prerequisites: Must have passed Level 2. The breaststroke and backstroke kick will be strengthened and swimmers will learn to coordinate breaststroke and backstroke arms and legs. Students will be introduced to the sidestroke and treading water. Deep water safety skills will be emphasized.
Waterbabies (6months-2yrs): Parents and children will explore the pool together, sing songs, engage in beginning swimming skills and water safety. Parent participation required.
Private Lessons are also available. Children receive one-on-one instruction on specific skills and water safety tailored to their individual skill levels. Private Lessons are (2) thirty minute lessons on Friday and Saturday.
The immersive nature of water fosters unrestricted movement and joyful play which has proved beneficial for children with special needs. This swim program designates a specific time for children to enhance their balance, social skills, and overall water confidence safely with their parents being present. This program aims to cater to a range of special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and other physical challenges. Lifeguards will be present, and additional aquatic staff will provide either supervisory oversight or interactive engagement with both children and parents.

Pool parties are for children aged 5 - 12 years old
You may arrive at 4:00pm to set up for your party Party Guests may be in the pool between 4:30pm-6:30pm. Everyone must be out of the pool at 6:30pm. Your party must exit the pool deck by 6:45pm.
Party Guests may use the WSRC pool noodles, kick boards and swim lesson toys.
Party Guests are welcome to wear life-jackets or other safety floating apparel.
Party Guests may not bring outside rafts or blow up riding floaties.
Pool party guests aged 6+ may use the hot tub with their parents permission for not more than 10 minutes at time.
Party Guests 10 and under must pass a swim test in order to swim on the deep end
The outside picnic area may be used by your party before and/or after your pool swim times
You may bring tables/chairs from home to the outside picnic area but WSRC tables and chairs cannot be taken outside the pool gate
You may use the WSRC fridge to store your cake or drinks but no other use of the kitchen or building is included in your pool party rental.

CalFresh benefits are conveniently distributed via a plastic card, known as the Golden State Advantage Card, which functions like a bank card at most food outlets.
