The Town of Windsor is offering many new recreation programs for the summer. Please see the program descriptions at our website www.townofwindsor.com/registration or call 707838-1260 for more information.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 currently exists in any public place where people are present and by using our facilities you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Create a recreation account by visiting www.townofwindsor.com/registration and follow the instructions to sign the waiver prior to getting registered.
We reserve the right to cancel any course which has not met our minimum number of students. Classes and Programs that have not met the minimum will be cancelled 5 business days before the start date of the class or program. Please register early to avoid cancellation of courses due to not fulfilling the minimum registrations.
More than 7 business days before the date of the first class, participants may withdraw and receive either, a credit to their registration account less a $5 processing fee per transaction, or a refund less a $15 processing fee per transaction.
From 7 to 4 business days before the date of the class, participants will receive 100% of the class fee credited to their registration account less the $5 processing fee per transaction.
From 3 business days before the date of the class, no refunds will be given.
A full refund will be issued only if a class or activity is canceled by the Parks & Recreation Department. Refunds take approximately three weeks to process. Credits on accounts will remain on the customer account for one year from the date of withdrawal.

My name is Katie Azanza (Shimizu) and as a Windsor raised resident, I am excited to be joining the Town’s Parks and Recreation Department. I graduated from Cali Calmecac and Windsor High School before receiving my degree in Art History from UC Berkeley. After a few years in Tennessee while my husband (also a Windsorian) was stationed at Fort Campbell, we returned to Windsor in 2015 to raise our family. I have since enjoyed being involved with the local nonprofit and arts communities as a museum administrator and photographer. Windsor is a beautiful place to call “home” and I am honored be to a part of this incredibleteam!

Prior to this position, I worked for 4 years as the Administrative Aide at the Windsor Senior Recreation Center. I love servingtheWindsorcommunityandamexcitedfor the opportunity to create new adult programs, while working alongside amazing staff to provide meaningful preschool programs! I grew up in Tuolumne City and graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management from Fresno State. The seven different Group lesson options listed below are held at the Windsor Senior Recreation Center (WSRC), located at 9231 Foxwood Drive in Windsor. They are available for youth ages 3 - 12. These Weekday group lessons are comprised of eight 25-minute lessons.
Tadpoles (3-5 yrs): An introductory-level water orientation class; no prior experience is required. Children will work on being comfortable in the water while learning basic skills such as breath holding, blowing bubbles, submerging the face by bobbing underwater, alternating arms and supported kicking and floating. Class is taught at the pool steps.
Waterfrogs (4-5 yrs): Prerequisites: Must have passed Tadpoles or comparable level. This class is taught away from the pool steps; students will not be able to touch the pool bottom. Skills in face submersion and breath control will be strengthened. Will be introduced to unsupported back and front floats, scooping, flutter kicking, and gliding.
Minnows (4-6 yrs): Prerequisites: Must have passed Waterfrogs or comparable level. Skills in unsupported floating, flutter kicking, and gliding will be strengthened and students will be encouraged to swim independently for up to 10 yards. Introduction to elementary backstroke arms, front and back crawl, and swimming underwater.
Sea Otters (6-9 yrs): Sea Otters is a beginning level class designed for the older child with no prior swim lesson experience. Children will be introduced to basic skills such as breath holding, submerging the face, front/back floats and crawl, side breathing, supported kicking, scooping and gliding. Upon successful completion of Sea Otters, students progress to Level 1.
Level 1 (5-8 yrs): Prerequisites: Must have passed Minnows, Sea Otters or comparable level. Must be able to float and glide unassisted on their back and front (with face in water) for five yards. Skills in elementary backstroke arms and underwater swimming will be strengthened. Will be introduced to coordinated arm strokes and side-breathing for the front/back crawl.
Level 2 (6-12 yrs): Prerequisites: Level 1 or comparable level. Class is taught in deeper water; children must be comfortable swimming without support. Emphasis will be placed on improved side-breathing and endurance for front crawl. Students will be introduced to breaststroke arms and kicks, as well as backstroke kicks.
Level 3 (6-12 yrs): Prerequisites: Must have passed Level 2 or comparable level. The breaststroke and backstroke kick will be strengthened and swimmers will learn to coordinate breaststroke and backstroke arms and legs. Students will be introduced to the sidestroke and treading water. Deep water safety skills will be emphasized.
Private Lessons are also available. Children receive one-on-one instruction on specific skills and water safety tailored to their individual skill levels. Private Lessons are comprisedoffour25minutelessons.

Water colors have always been Rosa's favorite medium. Rosa came to this country in 1977, with her husband Roberto and their two daughters Claudia and Brenda. She paints at her home studio in Windsor, and works restoring fine china and ceramics at her own business, Restoration Studio in Santa Rosa. For the past 20 years, she has been teaching watercolor classes for beginners and intermediate students through the Town of Windsor Parks and Recreation Department. Her paintings are done in a realistic style with a natural luminosity.
