CAMP COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES The Township's priority is the safety of all camp participants and staff. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 guidelines distributed by the Chester County Department of Health, State of Pennsylvania, and the Center for Disease Control for recommendations on operating protocols, policies, and procedures regarding COVID-19. Operating protocols, policies, and procedures will be updated throughout the course of the program, as necessary, to maintain a safe environment for the summer camp program, campers, and staff. Registered participants will receive notification of any changes.
HEALTH AND SAFETY - All staff and campers will receive daily temperature checks. - A daily health screening form MUST be submitted prior to camp admission each day. - Hand sanitizing products and restrooms will be available throughout the park. - No touch trash receptacles. - Staff will have a cleaning mixture to sanitize equipment and materials. - Enhanced disinfecting methods will be used to clean the pavilions, restrooms, and picnic tables. - All camp programing guests will be screened prior to their entry. - Face masks are to be worn at all times as camp will be operating in groups in public facilities.
SUSPECTED OR CONFIRMED CASE OF COVID-19 AT CAMP - If a camper or staff member displays symptoms of COVID-19 while at camp, they will be isolated immediately. COVID-19 symptoms are defined as 2 or more of the following symptoms: fever over 100.4, new or persistent cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, runny nose or congestion, diarrhea, fatigue, loss of taste and/or smell. - All staff and campers who were directly exposed will be sent home. The camper's family will be notified to come and pick up their camper. Direct exposure is defined as being within 6 feet of the individual displaying symptoms for a period of 15 minutes or more. - Staff or camper dismissed from camp due to COVID-19 related symptoms may not return to camp until symptoms subside or they can produce a negative COVID test result. A person who tests positive is considered infectious 48 hours before the onset of symptoms. If asymptomatic, the person is considered infectious 2 days after exposure (if known) or starting 2 days before test date (if exposure is unknown). - If a camper, staff, or family member of either become aware of direct contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, they should notify
Hilliary Mallory immediately via email at hmallory@tredyffrin.org. - That camper or staff member is then required to self-quarantine for a minimum of 10 days from the date of contact. - If a camper, staff member or family of either tests positive for COVID-19, they are required to self-quarantine at home for a minimum of 10 days after symptom onset and present a negative COVID-19 test. - In accordance with CDC guidelines: anyone with direct contact will be notified of a positive test result immediately. Those notified should stay home until 10 days from the date of contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19. - No refunds will be issued to campers due to time missed for quarantine.
IMPORTANT CHANGES While some of the necessary changes and modifications on the camp system this year may not be ideal, they provide an opportunity to offer a safe camp experience for all families. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun summer environment for participating families. - Check-In/Out: Campers and guardians MUST remain in their vehicles. If your child requires drop-off or pick-up at a time other than check-in/out, please notify your camper's director or Hilliary Mallory at hmallory@tredyffrin.org. - Face masks are to be worn at all times as camp will be operating in a public park. - All pavilions and playgrounds will be closed to the public during camp hours. - Limited number of campers per week, 30 Tykes Campers and 60 school age campers/groups of 30 in each pavilion. - Limited outside entertainment.
CAMP GROUPS - To make every effort to limit camper or staff exposure to COVID-19, camp will maintain a lower overall capacity this summer. - Campers will be placed in groups of 10 with 2 or 3 counselors depending on the age of the group, with no more than 3 groups in each pavilion. - Campers will operate in smaller groups throughout the day. - Larger groups may be necessary for specific activities throughout the summer. In those situations, campers will maintain 6-foot social distancing and/or wear face masks.
CAMP ACTIVITIES - Campers will participate in all camp activities by designated group. The groups will have a pre-determined schedule where they will participate in all camp activities deemed safe and allowable. - Counselors will wear face masks and will maintain a safe social distance from campers whenever possible. - Schedules will be organized so that all common spaces, activity areas, and shared equipment will be properly cleaned and disinfected as needed or required. - Snack times will be scheduled with only one group eating at a time with sanitizing and disinfecting between each group. - Craft time will be scheduled so that only one group of 10, plus counselors, are in the pavilion at a time with sanitizing and disinfecting between each group.
SNACK AND CAMP SUPPLIES - All food, beverages and supplies must be in a clear Ziplock baggie or snack bag with the camper's name clearly labeled. - If your child has an inhaler or EpiPen, they must be clearly labeled and checked in with their director. - Snack groups will maintain a social distance of 6 feet, with only one camp group at a time under the pavilion. - Picnic areas will be sanitized prior to and after each snack group. - We are requesting all campers bring a towel or small blanket with them to maintain social distancing when not under the pavilion. Please make sure they are clearly labeled with camper's name. - Sunscreen is recommended, as all camp activities are outdoors. Counselors are NOT permitted to apply lotion on the campers. - Sneakers, not sandals, are recommended. June and July are bee season.
Summer camp has never been and will never be a perfectly controlled environment. The goal of this camp is to provide a safe, fun, and quality summer experience for our campers and families, especially during these challenging times. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and reinforcement of these modifications and policies as we work through these unforeseen circumstances.
