Dear Residents: This should be another exciting year for local recreation, especially in Hanover Township! We are introducing two new after school programs: youth lacrosse and a youth basketball league. These classes follow suit with all of our other great activities, especially flag football and dance, just to name a few!

I also encourage everyone to come check out the changes and additions to the community center. We have installed solar panels to our pavilion to allow our rentals to have electricity for their special events. We have also added new art to the halls of the center, thanks to our art program.

Whether you are taking a fitness class, working out, or just stopping in to drop your child off for a program, please browse and see what we have to offer!

Program Membership entitles the entire family to discounted program rates. The majority of our programs are aimed at ages 3-12, in the hopes to encourage more memberships, as the “non-member” program fee costs more. Membership entitles one person in the family to one free program, excluding children’s services & cheerleading. Program membership does not entitle you to the member rate on pool passes or the summer park program.

Basketball Membership for an adult would give access only to the use of the basketball gym. This membership would not give the discounted fee for aerobics or fitness room as the Basic Membership does. This membership encourages more members who are interested in only the use of the basketball gym.

Gym, Meeting Room, & Field Rental Info Gym Rental Information*:

Gym rentals are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Requests for gym rentals for fall/winter are taken after June 1st; spring/summer after January 1st. A $50 damage deposit is required for all gym rentals.

Fees: 1/2 gym- $55/hr., full gym- $75/hr.

Field and Pavilion Permits*:

All field and pavilion permits are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

A pavilion permit is $75 per day (less than 125 people) or $150 per day (over 125 people). Rules and Regulations apply. An application can be picked up at the community center.

Baseball and Softball:

Field permits begin with a $35 permit fee plus a $5 per day, per field charge.

Organizations or individuals using township facilities for camps, tournaments and leagues will be required to pay the permit fee plus per day field fee, or $5 per participant, whichever is greater. All Soccer, Lacrosse, or Football Fields cost $20 per two hour period (min. 2 hours; prorate additional time accordingly at $10/hour).

Meeting Room Rentals:

The 2200 sq. ft. all-purpose room can be divided into 4 sections. Fees are as follows: 1/2 the room $66 per hour; full room $94 per hour; classrooms or 1/4 of meeting room $44/$55 per hour. All rooms are available year round.

A $50 damage deposit is required for all meeting room rentals. Catering services are available. Call for room specifications. * Residents receive a 15% discount on Meeting Room, Pavilion & Gym Rentals* * All Gym and Field Rentals will require a certificate of liability listing “Hanover Township - Northampton County” as the certificate holder. Policy shall be for a minimum of $500,000 liability coverage.

Art Program HTCC offers art classes for every age and skill level. All classes are taught by art instructor Lisa Magyarics. Mrs. Magyarics has a BFA in Design from Syracuse University and has been teaching art locally for over 20 years. It is her philosophy that art is for everyone – if you have an interest and a willingness to learn, you can create.

Youth Program The youth program is designed to meet National Standards for the Arts and encourage children to express themselves creatively while increasing development in language, math, science, history and world cultures. The arts provide children an avenue for exploring concepts in a non-traditional setting while encouraging them to develop a sense of self.

Please note that age groupings are designed based on developmental skill sets that children acquire in phases. Class programs are developed for children who have acquired those skills (fine motor, conceptual, etc.). Please enroll your child based on the ages/grades specified.

ARTWORKS! (PreK-K) Thursdays 1:00-1:45 pm

Children will use art as a basis for learning colors, shapes, math concepts, language development and self-expression. Children will view artwork by an array of artists and will explore a variety of medium creating their own works of art, (Not a “mommy & me” class) Offered: Fall 1, Fall 2 & Winter 1

FUNdamentals of Art (grades 1-3) Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 pm

Students will work through a variety of media as they learn the elements and principles of art. We will view work by selected artists and discuss color, shape, line, balance, and scale. Emphasis will be placed on process.

This class builds on the skills learned in FUNdamentals through the exploration of a wider variety of media and techniques.

Projects will be individualized to students’ interests and level. Emphasis will be on process with an increased awareness of outcome.

TOPS – “Take Off Pounds Sensibly” This is a nonprofit organization that promotes the health of the group and the welfare of its members.

Through group support and encouragement, excessive weight and the maintenance of proper weight is discussed. Meetings take place every Thursday at HTCC. This program is open to women, men and children older than 7. Yearly National Fee of $24. Dues are $2.00 per week. Incentives will be put in place to help you reach and maintain your goals.

Flu Shot Clinic Wednesday, September 23 from 9:30 am-1:30 pm

The flu shot is free of charge to anyone with Highmark FreedomBlue PPO, SecurityBlue, Aetna, or Medicare Part B insurance.

For all others, the cost of the vaccine is $30. Cash or check is accepted.

We will honor registrations on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to our children services director. Staff will be available during school days and by appointment.

All children must be potty-trained and self-sufficient in the bathroom. ***Final decisions of class designation are at the discretion of the directors.*** A Preschool Membership ($60.00) must be purchased at time of registration. This membership will allow your child to participate in all Preschool-Aged Programming at a discounted rate and includes use of the gymnasium.

The membership will be activated the week of September 7 and will be valid through August 14, 2016.

Membership fees and deposits are non-refundable.

(If you have a Basic Family Membership that is current as of the start of Session 1, 50% of your Application Fee will be applied toward 1st Session fees.) Membership fee will not be prorated.

Enrichment Programs Hanover Township Community Center Enrichment Program for Children!

Fall 2015 Enrichment Program Quick Facts Children in preschool to grades K-8 are invited to participate in this structured and theme related enrichment program.

Children may sign up 24 hours in advance for “as needed” service or contracts are available for the school year. Children with contracts may sign up for care when preschool is off.

Hours are 7:30 am-5:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Year Round Programs Piano/Violin Lessons

Basics of Buying and Selling on Ebay Class for the beginner who wants to buy or sell on Ebay– the online marketplace. Just over one hour of instruction on how to open an account, research items, create listings, develop pricing strategies, and monitoring and ship those items. This brief class will get you started in a pinch.

Lower Northeast Karate 5 years old– Adult

Program runs year round Techniques from Shotokan, Aikido, and Judo are taught in a progressive atmosphere. Upon passing each advancement test, the participant is certified for the achievement level through the Shotokan Karate Association.

Everyone is taught self-discipline against “street attacks”. Participation in the annual Shotokan Karate tournament is encouraged. Benefits include self-confidence, self-esteem, self-discipline, weight reduction, stress relief, self-respect, muscular endurance, and respect for others.
