US Open Rescheduled for September 14

Town Officials and First Responders with the US Open Trophy

The outcome of the 2020 Census will determine our federal, state and county representation, as well as our share of federal and state aid. Each person counts. It is essential that everyone responds to ensure that we get an accurate and complete count of our local population. The Census is easier than ever to complete. You may complete the Census online, by phone, or through the mail. You may respond until October 31, 2020, but Census staff will begin coming door-to-door to those who have not responded starting in August!

Schools and Head Start

Recent events involving racial injustice and policing brought members of the community together to express their belief in the need for change in order to combat discrimination. The first event was organized by Kayla Yan, a Mamaroneck High School student, who led a community march on June 5th from Harbor Island Park to Flint Park with over 1,000 participants. At the conclusion of the march in Flint Park, there was an enthusiastic crowd listening to speakers amid a drenching downpour. It was obvious that the weather didn’t dampen the spirit of those participating in the event. The second event, which was organized by the Town of Mamaroneck, along with the Villages of Larchmont and Mamaroneck was a community gathering for racial justice and equality in memory of George Floyd. It was held at Harbor Island Park. Town Councilman, Jeffery King, who was the master of ceremonies welcomed several other community and clergy members that spoke, including Kayla Yan. Councilman King himself spoke movingly about his experiences growing up in Larchmont/Mamaroneck. Thank you to LMC Media for coverage of the event.

Best regards, Nancy Seligson, Town Supervisor

As we all know, the Coronavirus pandemic has had a tremendous impact on our lives and the way we live. As we adjust to the reopening stages, we should anticipate that some of the effects of the pandemic might be with us for a long time. Town government operations have also been significantly impacted. Through the efforts of the management team, the Town has continued to provide all government services throughout the pandemic. On page two, read about the measures taken during the pandemic and on page three, read about the current status of Town summer programs and services.

Councilman King plans to spearhead a Town sponsored Task Force to address any racial issues as well as create improved transparency and communication from our Police Department.

Help us beat our 2010 response rate by getting to at least 75%!

The US Open golf tournament at Winged Foot Golf Club is rescheduled to begin September 14th. To ensure it is safe, it will be a pared down event with far fewer spectators allowed than in years past. The USGA has worked with the Town for over a year to prepare for the tournament so it is a disappointment that it had to be postponed and scaled back. However, there will be mini-events leading up to it and the USGA provided a recent photo-op with the trophy.
