SWIMMING LESSONS

Please note that each swim class (except private and semi-private swim lessons) has a maximum of six participants per class and a minimum of 3 participants per class. Classes with fewer than three enrollees the Friday before class is scheduled to start will be moved or combined with other classes in order to meet the minimum enrollment. Classes may be moved at the Town’s discretion if only two or fewer classes have enough enrollments to make. The Town of Little Elm will only offer swim lessons up to Level 3. For Session 1 (Jun 6- Jun 16), member and resident registration for group swim lessons will begin on May 16. Non-resident and non-member registration will begin on May 25. Session 1 swim lesson registration will end on June 2. For Session 2 (Jun 20- Jun 30), member and resident registration for group swim lessons will begin on May 31. Non-resident and non-member registration will begin on June 9. Session 2 registration will end on June 16. For Session 3 (Jul 11- Jul 21), member and resident registration for group swim lessons will begin on June 20th. Non-resident and non-member registration will begin on June 29. Session 3 registration will end on July 7. For Session 4 (Jul 25- Aug 4), member and resident registration for group swim lessons will begin on July 5. Non-resident and non-member registration will begin on July 14. Session 4 registration will end on July 21.

PRESCHOOL 1

This course gives young children ages three to five a positive introduction to water safety and helps participants feel comfortable in the water and enjoy the water safely.

PRESCHOOL 2

This course gives young children ages three to five a positive introduction to water safety. Builds on the skills learned in Preschool Level 1 and gives participants success with fundamental skills, such as floating and basic locomotion in the water.

The Town of Little Elm offers private and semi-private swim lessons. We offer 1-on-1 and 2-on-1 instruction. Groups of three or larger will need to all sign up for the same class listed above or contact the Aquatics thecove@littleelm.org for special pricing. Be aware that our private instructors will only work on skills up to Learn to Swim 3 and nothing higher. Private (1-on-1) Resident: $120, Nonresident $130; Semi-private (2-on-1): Resident: $160, Nonresident $180. PRESCHOOL 3

Gives young children ages three to five a positive introduction to water safety. Builds on the skills in Preschool Level 2 and improves participants’ coordination of simultaneous arm and leg actions and alternating arm and leg actions.

PARENT/TOT

Familiarizes children between the ages of six months and approximately three years with water and teaches swimming readiness skills. It also provides safety information for parents and teaches techniques parents can use to orient their children to the water.

AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CLASS

Our detailed training includes both testing of hands-on skills and comprehension on written tests. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR, and AED training, is valid for two years. Prerequisites: Students must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class and must pass a pre-course swimming skills test before taking lifeguarding courses.

AMERICAN RED CROSS WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR CLASS

Our detailed course trains instructor candidates to teach all of the Swimming and Water Safety program courses to all age groups, plus Learn-to-Swim Levels 4-6 and Adult Swim. This certification is the gold standard and provides the most comprehensive training for swim instructors.

Prerequisites:

• Be at least 16 years of age by the end of training. • Pass swim skills evaluation: Candidates must demonstrate and proficiently complete 25 yards of the following strokes: front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly. • Maintain back float for 1 minute. • Maintain treading water for one minute.
