Cheques are payable to the Town of Grimsby and must be dated the day of registration. NSF Cheques are subject to a $25 administrative fee and require immediate correction for the space to be held.

Public Skate Rules

Please observe the following skate rules to ensure a fun experience for everyone: Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult Public skates are supervised by staff, but direct supervision of children is not provided Properly fitted, CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended for all patrons Strollers and baby carriers are not permitted on the ice Skates are required on the ice Sticks and pucks are not permitted during public skating A full list of public skating rules is also posted at the rink.

Public skating is a great recreational outing for a family or group of friends. It’s active, it’s fun, and it’s social! Our public skates are open to all ages and skating abilities.

A public skating time for young ones who are just learning to skate. Sticks and pucks are not permitted.

Skate aides are available. Strollers are permitted for this skate, parent/caregiver must also go on the ice. Helmets required. Drop-in program (no pre-registration required).

Preschool Skating Lessons Your little one is ready to lace up a pair of skates, and we have the perfect place for you to do that! Our preschool skating program offers a fun, casual skating environment that will get children skating on their own with a great big smile. The program incorporates games and songs. One parent or caregiver 18+ must have skates and go on the ice with the child. Skate aids will be available as needed.

Stick & Puck Practice your skills and stickhandle at our Stick and Puck Skate! This is a drop-in ice time. Children and Youth must be accompanied by an adult with a maximum of 2 children per adult. SKATING PROGRAMS LOCATION: PEACH KING CENTRE Learn to Skate For children who are not yet comfortable skating and want to improve their skills! This program focuses on the basics of skating, incorporating skill development, fun and games. It is preferred that participants have been on skates a few times before the classes. Coach Gail has taught many Grimsby children how to skate, come and see why her classes continue to fill! Skate aids will be available as needed.

Ticket Ice

Adult Skating Lessons

Ticket ice is intended to act as a supplemental ice time for figure skaters looking to add an extra lesson or practice before a test, competition or showcase.

This program is an introductory class that teaches the basic fundamentals of skating and is designed for adults 18+. The class will consist of basic skating development, to more advanced skills. CSA approved hockey helmet is strongly recommended for new skaters.

Adult Recreation Skating

Join in, whenever you can, with our noon hour hockey pick up program. Always a different group of people, always a lot of fun. This is a drop in shinny program that is open to anyone 16 years of age and older. Full protective equipment is required.

An adults only drop-in time. A great chance to be active and brush up on your skating! This is a skating program only, sticks and pucks are not permitted. Helmets are strongly recommended.

Sportball provides non-competitive sports instruction for children ages 16 months to 10 years. We want kids to develop physical literacy and a life-long love of movement and sport. We place our emphasis on competence and confidence building, socialization and overall fun.

If we asked one of our Sportball parents to dream up their child's ultimate class, it would probably end up looking a lot like our star program, Multi-Sport. Multi-sport classes keep children moving and engaged and send them home with new skills from a different sport each class. Please note Parent and Child Multi-Sport requires an adult to participate in each class.

Roll, jump, balance, run & fun! This program works on gross motor development, balance, agility to develop well rounded physical skills. MARCH BREAK & CHEER SQUAD March Break Camp Ages: 4 - 12 Fee: $173 Location: Southward Community Park 84 Mud Street, Grimsby Time: 9:00am - 3:30pm Dates: March 10 - 14 Extended care: 7:45am to 5:30pm (additional $44/week) Join us for a full week of camp adventure. GO TEAM! Children will get an introduction to cheerleading by learning chants, dances, and jumps. Each class will, provide opportunities to build confidence, self-esteem, and stage presence. At the end of the winter session participants will perform a routine to showcase the skills they have learned.

Through this journey our miniprogrammers will learn one of the world’s most friendly and accessible coding languages used by developers, data scientists and tech enthusiasts worldwide. Join us as we transform coding into a playful and educational experience, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills in a fun and supportive environment. Exploring the Arts: Whimsical Worlds Ages: 7 - 14 years old Fee: $105 Location: Carnegie Hall Time: 6:15 - 7:15pm Dates: Wednesdays, beginning January 15th to February 19 (6 weeks) Each artist will plan, design and create their own whimsical world in a box! Using paint, paper, clay and more artists will create a miniature door, wall paper, furniture and all the miniature elements they can imagine using the supplied materials!

YOUTH SAFETY COURSES Virtual children’s safety classes are taught over one day through Zoom Meeting technology. Classes are led by a live instructor and each program includes interactive digital media to help learn key messages. Participants will need a device with camera & microphone (laptop, tablet, smart phone) as well as high-speed internet connection. In-person one day classes are also available – see schedule below.

This program helps to empower children when they are dealing with untrustworthy adults, teens and peers with an easy to remember plan to get away and tell a trusted adult.

We focus on People Safety (including tricky people, getting help from a safer adult and bullying), Online Safety, Fire Safety, Travel Safety and basic first aid – including practice sessions on calling 911. All participants will receive a copy of the My Safe Life – Personal Safety for Kids manual along with their certificate by regular mail after the course has been completed.

All participants will receive a digital copy of the Red Cross Babysitter's manual and upon completion of the course will receive a hard copy of the manual along with their certificate by mail. Note: 100% attendance is required for this course.

All participants will receive a copy of the Home Alone Safety for Kids manual along with their certificate by regular mail after the course has been completed.

Our highly trained fitness instructors will focus on muscle concentration, breathing and posture while strength training, balancing and increasing the heart rate with a variety of movements. This program has everything you need to help improve your cardio and strength. This program is now expanding to include not just those recovering from a cardiac event, but also those who may have significant and identified risk factors and my benefit from: PREVENTATIVE EXERCISE INTERVENTION Before participating, cardiac patients are required to fill out our intake, waiver and a doctor’s referral form.

Your doctor may have this form, or the referral can be picked up at the Livingston Activity Centre Recreation Services office.

The program runs: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 - 10:20am and the winter start date is January 14th.

Drawing the human form live is an essential exercise for artists of all abilities, mediums, and styles. Get into the practice with quick studies, gestures, and extended poses, clothed and unclothed. Participants are self-directed and without an instructor in an open studio format. Participants are to provide their own drawing board, paper, and materials of choice.

THE GRIMSBY SENIORS CLUB The Grimsby Seniors Club has been in operation for over 50 years, and has approximately 450 members. The club is run out of the Livingston Activity Centre, The club offers a wide variety of activities, events and social opportunities for community members who are 55 years +. Stop by to visit the centre and pick up a newsletter for upcoming events and activities.

Annual membership is required for participation in club activities.

The 2025 fee is $25, including HST. An additional activity fee of $0.50 cents will apply for all drop-in recreational programs.

Each year a card is sold by the National Mahjong League the "Official Standard Hands and Rules". The objective is to make up one of these "hands" using 14 tiles. Free instruction is available by existing players on play dates. Group is made up of fun-loving players who are patient and kind.
