PAYMENT INFO Online registrations require credit card use and a one time $2 nonrefundable convenience fee will be applied. Phone registrations are not subject to the convenience fee.

Cheques are payable to the Town of Grimsby and must be dated the day of registration. NSF Cheques are subject to a $25 administrative fee and require immediate correction for the space to be held.

Weekly Schedule for All Ages Public skating is a great recreational outing for a family or group of friends. It’s active, it’s fun, and it’s social! Our public skates are open to all ages and skating abilities.

Preschool Skating Lessons Your little one is ready to lace up a pair of skates, and we have the perfect place for you to do that! Our preschool skating program offers a fun, casual skating environment that will get children skating on their own with a great big smile. The program incorporates games and songs. One parent or caregiver 18+ must have skates and go on the ice with the child. Strollers are permitted during this program, skate aids will be available as needed.

Learn to Skate For children who are not yet comfortable skating and want to improve their skills! This program focuses on the basics of skating, incorporating skill development, fun and games. It is preferred that participants have been on skates a few times before the classes. Coach Gail has taught many Grimsby children how to skate, come and see why her classes continue to fill! One parent or caregiver 18+ must have skates and go on the ice with the child. Skate aids will be available as needed.

To commemorate Grimsby's 100th year we are excited to announce he inaugural Grimsby Arts Walk! This will be an annual juried art festival. Learn about the structure and forms of the face and start building geometric shapes into full 3-D portrait illusions.

Students will be working with photos to start, then models to experience the flexible thinking and translating options used to create portraiture on paper.

Let yourself play with paint in this small study acrylic paint class. Work step by step through a still life to get comfortable with the stages of painting and finding style and form at your own pace. Learn about basic colour theory and brush work that push and pull space in your own intuitive style. Create some time and space to relax and build a painting practice that you will enjoy. GPAG TEEN & ADULT STUDIO PROGRAMS Friday Open Studios - $75 per 5 week session The Open Studio format is self directed without an instructor. This allows each artist/student to determine their own needs with access to a professional model and lighting. Get into practice with quick studies, gestures, and extended poses. Find new connections to understand how to use colour with confidence and break down the colour theory.

Move colour into action and reaction!

Playing with paint and brushes will bring new meaning to your palette and panels with easy exercises. Acrylic paints used in the workshop with watercolour and oil transferrable references available upon request.

No experience in art is required for this workshop, as the goal is to gain new insight into the creative process. Artist Carolyn Dover will discuss and demonstrate the language of line and the concept of mark making in relation to how we can translate our daily life experiences. This workshop offers accessible exercises that help you make clearer connections to your right brain and the vocabulary of the visual language. Participants will ponder a problem, ask a question and then use the new analog drawing method as a resource for a response work. All materials are included.

Celebrate the holidays with some creative printmaking!

Bring your morning coffee or tea to the studio while you learn and make art that can be part of your gift giving traditions! Learn about linocut techniques and work with templates or design your own relief print. Make a series of prints, cards, and tags from the linoblock experiments you carve out with our inks and interesting printmaking papers.

This October you can experience Art and yoga Nidra in the Grimsby Public Art Gallery. Elizabeth will lead you through gentle movements and the calming effects found in shavasana (corpse pose) as you experience the classical stages of yoga Nidra. Let it be a time to reduce stress, both mental and physical, as you open up to and allow a new perspective of reality, one that the mind in its ordinary state cannot imagine. Yoga Nidra is a practice that everyone, from children to seniors, can do.

Sportball Sportball provides non-competitive sports instruction for children ages 16 months to 7 years. We want kids to develop physical literacy and a life-long love of movement and sport. We place our emphasis on competence and confidence building, socialization and overall fun.

PRINCIPLES OF HEALTHY CHILD DEVELOPMENT (PHCD) 4-hour in-class

Fee: $85 Location: Peach King Centre Auditorium Time: 9 - 1pm Date: Saturday, October 1st Ages: 14+ High Five training provides participants with nationally recognized certification that will assist them in working with children's programs in the sport and recreation industry. Several municipalities, not-for-profit organizations, and service providers either require or recommend High Five Certification for employment. The Principles of Healthy Child Development certification course is designed to assist leaders in best practices for delivering programs to children. This one day course is a requirement for anyone interested in working for the Town of Grimsby Summer Camps and/or seasonal recreation programs.

Virtual children’s safety classes are taught over four sessions through Zoom Meeting technology. Held in our PKC fitness centre and fully stocked gym, this one hour, once per month program is offered to gym members only.

The trainer will offer fitness advice for the members and any support needed with equipment, form and alignment. Gym members will be notified of the pop dates on our community board. Visit our fitness centre for a tour.

THE GRIMSBY SENIORS CLUB The Grimsby Seniors Club has been in operation for over 50 years, and has approximately 450 members. The club is run out of the Livingston Activity Centre, The club offers a wide variety of activities, events and social opportunities for community members who are 55 years +. Stop by to visit the centre and pick up a newsletter for upcoming events and activities.

Annual membership is required for participation in club activities.

The 2022 fee is $22, including HST. An additional activity fee of $0.50 cents will apply for all drop-in recreational programs. Fitness classes require advance registration.
