All transfer and refund requests must be made in writing and can be submitted to Recreation Services at leisure1@eastgwillimbury.ca
Refunds can be reflected back onto the form of payment used to register or credited on the participants account for future use. The account credit will not expire and can be used by any participant within the same family. Please allow two to three weeks for all refunds to be processed.

Non-medical refunds for all programs (except Aquatic Leadership) will only be accepted prior to the second regularly scheduled class.
For all program and leadership course cancellations due to medical reasons, a full refund will be issued with a medical note. Refunds will be prorated if the course has started. Refunds/transfers will be processed according to the date your written request is received by Recreation Services.
There will be no fee for transferring to another program. Transfers for general programs can take place up to the second regularly scheduled class, after that, transfer requests will not be accepted.
If you cannot be accommodated in any of your selections, your name will be added to the waiting list for your first choice only. Program availability is only held for 48 hours before being offered to the next person on the waiting list.
Due to Aquatic Leadership courses requiring 100% attendance, late admissions cannot be granted. Non-medical related refund requests for all Aquatic Leadership courses will only be accepted a minimum of seven days prior to the start of the first scheduled class. For refunds due to medical issues, please see “Refunds due to Medical Needs” content.

EG has partnered with the Main Street Pool in Newmarket to deliver Lifesaving swimming lessons. This quaint facility allows for quality lessons with smaller class sizes, warmer pool temperatures and on-deck viewing for one parent or guardian. It provides a comfortable environment for all. The pool depth starts at three feet and nine inches and drops to nine feet at its deepest point.

These preschoolers learn to jump into the water by themselves, and get in and out. They’ll submerge and exhale underwater. They will also use a lifejacket or PFD (personal floatation device) and glide on their front and back.

Advanced preschoolers will learn to do solo jumps into the water and get out by themselves. They’ll do sideways entries and open their eyes underwater. They’ll master a short swim on their front, gliding and kicking on their side.

These youngsters get more adventurous with a forward roll entry and treading water for 10 seconds. They’ll work on front and back crawl swims for five-minute interval training and get a giggle out of whip kick.
The Lifesaving Society’s six-level swimmer program ensures your children learn how to swim. Swimmer progressions accommodate children six years and older, including absolute beginners as well as swimmers who want to build on the basics. We stress in-water practice to develop solid swimming strokes and skills. We incorporate Lifesaving Society Water Smart® education in all Swimmer levels.

They’ll be able to support themselves at the surface without an aid, learn to whip kick, swim 10 metres on their front and back, and begin to flutter kick in intervals (four times for five minutes each).

These junior swimmers will dive and do in-water front somersaults and handstands. They’ll work on 15 metres of front crawl, back crawl and 10 metres of whip kick. Flutter kick interval training increases to four times for 15 metres.

These intermediate swimmers will swim five metres underwater as well as lengths of front and back crawl, whip kick, and breaststroke arms with breathing. Their new bag of tricks includes the completion of the Canadian Swim to Survive® Standard. They’ll cap it all off with front crawl sprints over 25 metres and four times for 25 metres front or back crawl interval training.

Standard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR-C. Standard First Aid incorporates all of Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid. Standard First Aid is a prerequisite for the National Lifeguard course.

In this program your child will develop the grace and creativity that Ballet is. Your child will learn the proper arm and leg positions as well as several ballet routines that will transform your little one into a Ballerina.

This interactive and engaging program encourages creativity and learning through hands-on craft activities. Each four-week session is centered around a unique theme, offering a variety of fun, themed craft projects that foster imaginative play, fine motor skills and self expression. Please note: Parent/guardian must remain in the program space for the entirety of the program.
Themes: Under the Sea (April 24 and 25) and Nature Explorers (May 22 and 23).
3 to 5 Years
This pre-kindergarten program will have children participating in show and tell, art projects and educational worksheets. Children will discover numbers, letters, animals and much more. This program will allow your child to learn through play. Creative games, songs, stories and activities will enhance your child’s learning experience. Please send your child with a nut-free snack and water bottle.
Please note: All participants must be fully toilet trained and independent in the washroom.

This program is designed to introduce children to the basic patterns of human body movement. Participants will be guided through circuits and obstacle courses using real gymnastics equipment! This program is run in partnership with the Pulsars Gymnastics Club. All coaches are fully trained by the National Coaching Certification Program. Parent Participation is required.
4 to 6 Years
This independent program is designed to develop basic gymnastics skills in a safe and fun environment. Participants will be guided through circuits and obstacle courses using real gymnastics equipment! All coaches are fully trained by the National Coaching Certification Program. This program is run in partnership with the Pulsars Gymnastics Club.
3 to 4 Years
In partnership with Playball this program emphasizes the foundations and skills of popular sports including: baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball. Playball is structured to teach competent and happy participation in a non-competitive, fun-filled environment. Areas of sport development will include functional movement, development of concentration and social integration with other children.
2 Years
This program presents an opportunity for participants to become actively involved in the basic self defense techniques and movements as taught in Shotokan Karate. The Karate sessions will be run by Black Belt instructors from Community Martial Arts, a member of the International Karate Association (IKA Canada). A friendly, encouraging atmosphere will be created to make it an enjoyable and fun experience. A T-shirt and Karate belt will be supplied as part of the registration cost.
In partnership with Playball this course provides a wide range of suitable activities which stimulate and improve locomotion, balance, body and spatial awareness, muscular development, and fine motor skills. Praise, encouragement, and an environment which is rich in opportunities to experience success, acceptance, and safe boundaries will ensure your toddler blossoms. This multi-sport program teaches appropriate social interaction, listening to instructions, taking turns, sharing, and having fun with friends.

In partnership with Playball this program is an introduction to soccer and team participation. If this is your little one’s first experience in sports, this program will help to ensure a positive and happy introduction to skills, in order to ensure your child will participate again in the future.

Sportball soccer classes are packed with high-energy fun, using imaginative coaching techniques and a continuous flow of new drills and non-competitive games to keep things rolling along. All Sportball programs are designed to grow with your child and reenrollment is encouraged.

With the active support and participation of their grownup, children are able to refine their skills and continue their social and physical development such as balance and coordination by participating in eight popular sports: hockey, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf and tennis. Under the guidance of our expert Coaches, grownups also understand proven teaching techniques that can be applied outside of Sportball classes. Sportball maintains a one-parent-perchild ratio policy in all parented programs to ensure that focus is kept on helping little ones practice and progress.

The Youth Support Fund provides East Gwillimbury families with financial support to ensure kids can play and participate in extra-curricular activities. 8 to 11 Years and 12 to 15 Years
Come play volleyball with us! Learn the game of volleyball in a fun and non-competitive setting. Players will learn basic skills and work as a team in a number of games each week. This is a recreational program where focus is getting participants active!
9 to 13 Years
Children will explore their creativity and discover their talents while learning art skills and techniques in drawing, painting and sculpting. Join artist and art teacher Donna Burwell-Stevens and learn about famous artists and their art. Learn how to draw people, animals, objects and landscapes! Materials include: watercolour and acrylic paint, air dry clay and a variety of drawing materials.
7 to 12 Years
4 to 8 Years and 9 to 15 Years
In partnership with Alorah designs we are excited to announce this fun new art class. Throughout the session, children will have the chance to immerse themselves in the captivating world of watercolour and acrylic painting. Each week, we will delve into exciting themes inspired by the beauty of the seasons, allowing young artists to discover and interpret the magic of these seasons through their artwork. We provide a fun and inclusive space where children can discover the joy of creating art and making new friends.
5 to 7 Years
This program presents an opportunity for participants to become actively involved in the basic self-defense techniques and movements as taught in Shotokan Karate. The Karate sessions will be run by Black Belt instructors from Community Martial Arts, a member of the International Karate Association (IKA Canada). A friendly, encouraging atmosphere will be created to make it an enjoyable and fun experience. A T-shirt and Karate belt will be supplied as part of the registration cost.
6 to 8 Years
For those who enjoy creativity and movement this is the class for you. Participants will not only learn the fundamentals, positions and technical movements that are required in Jazz dance, but they will also develop strength, style, flexibility, coordination and gain a sense of rhythm and musicality. Dress Code: body suit, tights, ballet shoes or bare feet and hair in a ponytail.
In partnership with Playball this program emphasizes the foundations and skills of popular sports including: baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball. Playball is structured to teach competent and happy participation in a non-competitive, fun-filled environment. Areas of sport development will include functional movement, development of concentration and social integration with other children.
5 to 7 and 6 to 9 Years
Learn and practice your skills in a fun and non-pressured way. Learn the rules, develop more confidence, practice teamwork and in-game strategies like attack and defense. This program is a great way for participants of all abilities to be part of the team!
9 to 11 Years
In partnership with the East Gwillimbury Tennis Club, Orange Ball focuses on the basics and fundamentals of tennis with the emphasis on having FUN. Equipment and court size is geared specifically for this age group. Juniors will be introduced to tennis related games and activities allowing them to master the basics of tennis. Our coaches are Tennis Canada certified and classes will have a maximum of eight participants. Participants must come with their own age/size appropriate racquet.
6 to 8 Years
In partnership with the East Gwillimbury Tennis Club, children are introduced to tennis using age and size appropriate equipment designed to make tennis fun and easy to learn. Red Ball emphasizes team play and good sportsmanship. Our coaches are Tennis Canada certified and classes will have a maximum of eight participants. Participants must come with their own age/size appropriate racquet.
7 to 11 Years
In this structured program, participants will learn and build upon basic gymnastics skills. Learning tools such as circuits and obstacle courses will be used. Coaches might also set up stations tailored for certain participants; this creates a more individualized learning atmosphere. All coaches are fully trained by the National Coaching Certification Program. This program is run in partnership with the Pulsars Gymnastics Club.
7 to 12 Years

This jam packed, exciting program includes 20 minutes of low impact cardio, 20 minutes of muscle conditioning with dumbbells, and finishes off with 20 minutes of stretching. A class that gives you a little bit of everything, that will guarantee you leave each class feeling challenged, yet refreshed!
Calling all new moms! Have fun with your baby through this fitness class that combines yoga and pilates. Each class provides postnatal exercises that will increase your energy, flexibility and improve muscle strength. This is a great opportunity to meet other moms in the community. Please note: You will need to bring your own yoga mat and water bottle.
Our instructor will walk you through the steps of traditional and country line dancing. All fitness levels welcome.

Our Learn to Play Pickleball welcomes players who are completely new to the sport and up to level 2.0. This program is designed to provide participants with knowledge and experience to play Pickleball! The program is in partnership with Elevation Athletics, with one of their skilled instructors there to teach and lead the games. We make sure to match players based on their skills and competition level each week and will switch you with different groups depending on your play from the week before.
Our Beginner Pickleball League welcomes players who are completely new to the sport and up to level 3.0. We make sure to match players based on their skills and competition level each week and will switch you with different groups depending on your play from the week before.
If you are not a complete beginner but also not yet able to play in level 3.0 and above, this league is for you! 3.0 and below are welcomed and encouraged to come play in this style of league where rallies happen more consistently. It’s the perfect in-between stage before you enter that next level. The league will set you up each week with people within your skill level and you will keep track of the scores of your games for the night. Each week, the league adds up your scores and then places you in a group with similar scores as you. The goal is to make sure you get similar skill level games while also having fun!
Geared for players who have never had a formal lesson, haven’t played tennis for some time or who are fairly new to the game. Players will learn technical fundamentals with the goal of being able to maintain a rally with some control. Players will learn basic court positioning as well as how to keep score.

Join us for a day trip to Toronto! We will start the day off at the St. Lawrence Market for some free time to shop and grab your choice of food for lunch. Then we will make our way over to Little Canada - a unique attraction that tells the stories of Canada and showcases the country’s cities and landscapes through the art of miniature. From there we will set sail on the Kajama, a traditional 165 foot three masted Schooner boat cruise. We will sit back and relax as we set sail on Toronto harbour and beautiful Lake Ontario.

Join us for an amazing day trip visiting Dundurn Castle and the Royal Botanical Gardens! The day will begin at Dundurn Castle for guided tour of this 40-room Italianate-style villa built in the 1830’s on Burlington Heights. From here we will go to the Royal Botanical Gardens Canada where we will have a boxed lunch (see lunch details below) and a guided tour of the gardens. Next we will make our way to the Dutch Mill Country Market for some shopping before we depart home.
Lunch Details: Smoked Turkey Wrap (turkey, lettuce, tomato, roasted pepper aioli) with a side garden salad, banana bread for dessert and a bottle of water.
