GENERAL INTEREST Didsbury Library (continued)....... Art Exhibit: Loom July 26 to August 23 Basic in construction, yet intricate in output—looms are the apparatus that brings Liv Pedersen's narratives to life. Since the 1970s, the artist has been creating small-scale weaving using a primitive Dutch plank loom. The Library will be hosting this exhibition from July 26 to August 23. As well, we will be hosting a weaving workshop on Saturday, July 29. The artist is building the dutch plank looms for a workshop participants to use, but we're asking that people who sign up bring a variety of yarn that they might have lying around the house to share with the group. Mountain View Arts Festival: September 9 and 10 The Library will be sponsoring a project engaging writers and artists in collaborative works. “Interpretive Expressions” will engage local artists and writers, collaborating on works, written and visual, that will be displayed in our gallery during the Festival, and (hopefully published in books to be sold to raise money for the library expansion). During the Festival, we will be hosting a writers' panel with four authors of the Canadian Historical Brides series: Each of the Canadian Historical Brides novels features one of the ten Canadian provinces and two of the novels feature the three Canadian Territories. These novels combine fact and fiction to tell the stories of the immigrant brides and grooms who came to Canada from diverse backgrounds to join in marriage and build the foundation of the free and welcoming country that is Canada. TechMate Sessions. Need help with devices or technologies? Make an appointment with our staff for a “Tech Mate” session and we will try to help. (403)335-3142 Canada 150 Family Reading Challenge.
