THE

An amateur production by arrangement with The Really Useful Group Ltd. Performed by Folkestone and Hythe Operatic and Dramatic Society

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Exclusive sing-along performance

Lyrics by Tim Rice

Sunday 2nd July 2.30pm

Friday 30 June - Sunday 2 July & Thursday 6 - Saturday 8 July

With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this family favourite has been wowing audiences for decades and has seen many stars, from Donny Osmond to Jason Donovan, play the titular role.

The story follows Joseph, a dreamer, who is one of twelve brothers. As his father’s favourite son he is gifted a ‘coat of many colours’. His brothers are so jealous that they sell him into slavery pretending that he has been killed. While working for Potiphar, Joseph gets himself into trouble and is thrown into jail. In prison he starts to interpret the dreams of his cellmates and due to his talent, he comes to the attention of the Pharaoh, rising through the ranks of power in Egypt.

Many years later a chance meeting with his brothers, who don’t recognise him, allows Joseph to test whether they are truly sorry for their actions. Will the family be reunited?

With classic songs such as ‘Any Dream Will Do’, ‘Close Every Door to Me’ and ‘Go Go Joseph’, it is a musical which is sure to get everyone excited!

FHODS are delighted to be presenting this musical production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, one of the greatest shows by Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim. Dark, witty and macabre, with a cast of unsavoury characters, Sondheim’s Tony-award winning musical promises a superbly entertaining night out!

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street tells the tale of a resourceful pie shop owner and a vengeful barber out for blood.

After fifteen years of wrongful imprisonment by a corrupt judge, Sweeney returns to London seeking his long-lost family, and forms an unlikely partnership with Mrs Lovett, who serves up pies underneath his former shop. Together, they wreak havoc on Fleet Street, and with the addition of a key ingredient, serve up the hottest – and most unsettling – pies in London. Mike Leigh’s

Abigail’s Party

9 - 11 November

FHODS are proud to present Abigail’s Party, Mike Leigh’s masterpiece of 70s theatre that gives the audience a chilling yet hilarious glimpse into a suburban soirée that turns to tension and tragedy.

Beverly and Laurence are a married couple whose love language is passive aggression, and things come to a cringe-inducing head when their friends and neighbours, Angela and Tony, come over for drinks and nibbles with a side of hostility.

When Susan joins the melting pot to get away from her teenage daughter Abigail’s birthday party a few doors down, the audience gets to witness the hilarious chaos that comes to a head when five people who have nothing in common and no love for each other are pushed into a claustrophobic, obnoxiously decorated living room and pumped full of booze. Expect drama, hilarity, cutting dialogue, and an abject, unforgettable lesson in how to host the house party from hell!
