COMMODORE’S CORNER It’s August at the Club, and the Fun Continues!
I hope you and your family are taking every opportunity to enjoy your summer here at the Club. Judging by recent soldout events and the number of members who can be found enjoying our dining and activity venues, this is shaping up to be a blockbuster summer at GPYC. We have some outstanding events planned for August. First, be sure to attend the Fleet Review Family Night and the Harbor Lights Dock Parties on August 16. They are the kick-off to a fun-filled Fleet Review weekend. The traditional review will take place on the afternoon of August 17 followed by the Fleet Review Dinner. This year’s new summer event, Party Under the Stars, will take place on August 23. Be sure to reserve early for any summer events you wish to attend! While enjoying time at the Club this summer, I am sure you are aware Mother Nature has bestowed upon us record high water levels. Please excuse some of the puddles and mini lakes that have appeared in the parking lot and front drive. The Board is aware and making every effort to mitigate the situation, and club staff continues to work diligently to address problem areas as they appear. Love pizza? I am happy to report the new high capacity brick pizza oven has helped us to drastically reduce wait times with no reduction in quality. What better way to work up an appetite for all those pizzas than working out at our recently opened fitness center or one of Pete’s boot camps? Special thanks to Director Bruce Knapp, his committee and the Board for making this long overdue goal a reality at our Club. If you haven’t visited the Fitness Center, I encourage you to do so. I think you will be pleased with what you see. I hope you also take time to visit the Grog Shop and meet Emily and Leah. They are always ready with a smile and are working hard to find the right items for you. With the new awning up by the Grog shop, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee after you do some shopping. Soak up these final days of Summer,
