HARAV YONASON SACKS, ROSH HAYESHIVA
Leading posek, author of 30+ seforim, Rav of Agudas Yisroel Bircas Yaakov Received Smicha From Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary “Our students are at Lander at the same time that they are challenged with making major life decisions— dating, marriage and career paths. It is rewarding to be able to guide them in this important stage of life. We want to inform their growth and try to see to it that the Torah they are learning informs every aspect of their day-to-day life. We work to mentor students and provide connections that will last way past their time at Lander. I and the other rebbeim look forward to becoming part of their families and being there for them as they journey through life.”

“I chose Lander because I believe that it is a place where I can continue to develop myself as a ben torah and prepare myself for a career without compromising my values. My time spent in Lander has certainly lived up to my expectations both in limudei kodesh and chol. I had the opportunity to interact and develop relationships with tremendous Torah personalities. I have benefited from my relationship with Rav Sacks shlita, in seeking his guidance on important life decisions. I had a similar experience with the professors of the college—especially Dr. Yoni Robinson—a gifted educator and a role model in terms of living a life as a Torah Jew in the workforce. His classes have given me the tools to succeed professionally and I’m privileged to have had the opportunity to be one of his students.”

ALUMNI
What Lander College for Men taught me about ethics translates into my daily life.
“I found my original internship through Touro and that put me squarely on my career path. I’m still close with a few of my political science professors and since my district office is in Queens, I stop by often to connect with them.”
Seeing how the rabbis and professors lead their lives—having that honesty through everything that they do—taught me that this was the way I needed to live my life, both personally and professionally.”
“The accounting profession is based on the idea of trust. Investors can say a company is a viable one to invest in because they have a piece of paper that states that their books are kept correctly and the public trusts that they are being honest. We’re at the forefront of the marketplace.

Because the daily schedule is so rigorous, I have learned how to properly manage my time, which is a skill that every good husband, father and professional needs to have. The beis medrash is in the same building as the college classes, so I am able to recharge in between classes and maximize my potential both in learning and in school. My professor got me an internship, working in the Queens County Courthouse Psychology Clinic, which I know will help as I apply to doctoral programs in psychology.”
– Azzi Kimmel, Psychology Major CAREER GOAL: Clinical psychologist who runs a drug rehab center
“I chose Lander because I wanted a place where I could have a real connection with a rebbe, learn on a high level and be with a great chevra. The Dean knows me by name and if there is anything I need help with, I know he will be there—not only now, but even after I graduate.

Lander boasts an active student government, athletics, clubs, activities, trips, shabbatonim and more. STUDENT LIFE TOURO’S LANDER COLLEGE FOR MEN14

The beis medrash atmosphere here is electric— it’s so alive. There isn’t one particular hashkafa to this yeshiva. If you want to work hard to learn, grow as a Jew and get a good education, you belong here.”
– Matthew Weiser, Biology Major
The students at Lander are amazing. When I first came, a senior spent so much of his own time helping me figure out which classes to take. I’m also very impressed with the student government. They respond to student concerns and make sure we all have a voice.
