TouroCOM is committed to training physicians with a focus on practicing in underserved communities, and to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in medicine. Clinical education is provided through affiliated teaching hospitals and medical centers that provide a wide range of clinical exposure. Our students and faculty provide health screenings and patient education in the community and offer mentoring for high school and college students to prepare them for the health professions.
TouroCOM has graduated more than 1,000 physicians who serve residencies at local, regional and national academic medical centers in all specialty fields. TouroCOM also hosts a one-year M.S. program that is distinctive amongst postbaccalaureate offerings. M.S. degree candidates are granted a provisional acceptance into the DO program based on their academic achievement.
Tourocom—Montana
Adding to its existing portfolio of top-tier medical schools, Touro launched a new medical school in Great Falls, Montana. The new school—Touro’s fifth college of osteopathic medicine campus—is welcoming its first class to address the state’s physician shortage and help increase access to healthcare. Touro University Montana will train osteopathic physicians, with a particular emphasis on practicing medicine in underserved communities and increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in medicine. Approximately 30% of the current student body in Touro’s osteopathic medical schools is comprised of underrepresented minorities and 55% of graduates practice in underserved communities.
