WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE NATURE TRAILS
Cypress Boardwalk Trail
Enjoy this elevated one-mile roundtrip wooden boardwalk, where you can roll above the marsh and swampy areas while feeling comfortable beneath the shade of trees or shelters along the way.
Okeeheelee Nature Center Trails
In western West Palm Beach, you’ll find Okeeheelee Park, covering more than 1,700 acres, including Okeeheelee Nature Center and 90 acres of native pine flatwoods that are traversed by 2.5 miles of trails, with both paved trails and natural, hardpacked limestone paths.
Daggerwing Nature Center Trails
In Boca Raton is Daggerwing Nature Center, home to 2.3 miles of boardwalk trails, which are fully wheelchair accessible. These trails wind through natural swampland where you may see osprey and woodpeckers.
ARTHUR R. MARSHALL LOXAHATCHEE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
Exploring this northern portion of the Florida Everglades is like truly exploring the “river of grass,” through a sawgrass marsh. A shady boardwalk loops through a cypress dome, leading out from the Visitor’s Center.
John Prince Park Trail
At John Prince Park in Lake Worth, explore 11.5 miles of sidewalk-like pathways that wind through the park, taking you alongside open marshes and near tons of tropical plants.
Juno Dunes Natural Area Trails
In Juno Beach, explore the vast Juno Dunes Natural Area, where the paved Sawgrass Trail leads you through oak and palmetto trees and then becomes a boardwalk. The boardwalk leads to a covered observation platform, with views of forest and coastal wetlands.
BARRIER-FREE PARK
This Boynton Beach park was designed for–and by–special needs individuals and is the ultimate all-ages and all-abilities destination. The theme of the park was inspired by Florida’s natural coastal features, and it offers people a place to play, explore, and immerse themselves in their surroundings.
