OUTDOORS If you are traveling between May and September, Innisfree also offers a wonderful overnight experience at the Recreation Park located 2 km south on Birch Lake. An excellent place to unwind, you will see colourful summer sunsets that will complete long days of rest and relaxation. If you like the beach, then you'll also find nearby Wapasu Lake, a terrific place for leisure and water recreation.

Ranfurly Birch Lake Campground
Innisfree is a friendly community, sometimes called "The Hidden Village,” as it is tucked away on the side of a ridge, north of the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16). Located just 1 1/2 hours east of Edmonton, it is the perfect destination for a day-trip or weekend retreat, a leisurely break while en route on the Yellowhead Highway or a memorable holiday in a distinctive part of the Canadian Prairies. HISTORY The President of the Bank of Commerce called the settlement Innisfree because it reminded him of his home 'Lake Isle of Innisfree' in Ireland. It celebrated 100 years of incorporation in 2011.
Ranfurly, a small but quaint hamlet within Minburn County is located 30 minutes east of Vegreville at the junction of Hwys 16 & 36. ATTRACTIONS Get a feel for the area's history when you visit the Ranfurly Museum, housed in a former classroom and filled with artifacts and treasures. The Senior Citizen's Club hosts a monthly pot-luck supper. Ranfurly's Steak Suppers held on the last Tuesday of each month are famous. There are also two annual bingos to test your luck! Be sure to take the kids to the parade during the Agricultural Fair in August.
