ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS The Smoky Lake Museum, located on the north side of town, displays a number of artifacts and historic photographs of the area. A large antique machinery collection and the restored Pakan ferry are also hosted here. Plan on spending your August long weekend at the Smoky Lake Stampede. Activities include a parade, pancake breakfasts, kids’ activities, dance, fireworks, and more. The Town of Smoky Lake proudly bills itself as the Pumpkin Capital of Alberta. Bring the family to the annual Great White North Pumpkin Weighoff & Fair, held on October 5. It attracts entries of mammoth gourds from all over. Have your photo taken with giant pumpkins; enjoy the huge Farmers’ Market, Art Show & Sale, kids’ activities, the Show 'n Shine, threshing bee, and the Giant Pumpkin Drop.

EAT SHOP STAY Treat yourself to the famous shakes and burgers at Betsy’s Burger Shack and stop by the Old Fashioned Bread Bakery & Deli for a selection of delicious Ukrainian baked goods. Fill your cooler with local food at Serben Farms Store, or Linda’s Market Garden. Shop at the Farmers’ Market Saturdays 10-2 pm March to December. Enjoy a meal at Smoky Lake Inn and stay the night where history and luxury converge, or spend a night at Super 8 along the highway.
