The last twelve months have been very mixed for our industry; new housing developments have continued throughout the country, landscape has been strong, and retail has also been very positive. The closure of the new box store will have some impact and be felt by many of us in the near future, but I am sure we can all work through this and continue to trade well going forward.

It has been a very late start to spring with cold, wet, and wintery conditions continuing in the southern states — this is not new to us, but our industry is controlled to some degree by the weather.

The Nursery and Garden Industry is still very strong Australia wide as we all seem willing to embrace the many challenges that have been put to us over the years. At Touch of Class Plants we are constantly changing our product mix and marketing strategies to cater for the lifestyle shifts and climate challenges we experience from

year to year, and our customers and consumers are on board and embracing this.

We at Touch of Class Plants and Greenhills Propagation are looking forward to a very exciting year with the introduction of several new lines to our already extensive collection of quality plants from Australia and around the world. We have also invested in ground breaking and innovative technology to improve our production methods.

Working closely with our partners from overseas and Australia, we are currently breeding and trialling many new plants for the Australian market.

Greenhills Propagation Nursery is now proud to be growing a selection of the stunning Bywong bred products. Bywong Nursery is located 30kms north east of Canberra, near the old gold mining settlement of Bywong.

Peter and Jennifer Ollerenshaw started Bywong Nursery in 1984 and grow a mixture of Australian and exotic plants. They specialize in propagating plants by cuttings and in 1989, in order to supply new plants to their customers they decided to try developing their own through selective breeding. They were mostly interested in Australian native plants and saw a gap in the market into which they could grow.
