Continue your Bukhara sightseeing with an excursion to Sitora-iMokhikhosa, Bahauddin Naqshbandi Mausoleum, dedicated to the famous 14th century Sufi spiritual leader. Afternoon is free to relax or personal exploration.

Day 8: Bukhara – Khiva

Travel to Khiva, across the famous Kyzyl Kum desert. We will make several photo stops to see the desert flora and fauna. Stay two nights in Khiva.

Visit the Kalta Minor Minaret, Kurkna Ark Fortress, Madrassahs and Mausoleums in the Citadel which remains largely untouched, preserving the historical charm despite modern development. In the afternoon, visit the Friday Mosque and the 19th century Tash Hauli Palace including the harem.

Day 10: Khiva – Darwaza (Turkmenistan)

Today involves extensive travel from Uzbek to Turkmenistan, crossing the border at Shavat, transfer overland to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kunya-Urgench, the former glorious capital of the medieval Khorezmshah Empire. Highlights include visits to various mausoleums as well as the minaret of Kutlug Timur and al Mamun’s Academy of Sciences. Stay overnight in Darwaza.

Day 11: Darwaza Crater –Ashgabat

After breakfast visit water and clay craters. Later drive to Ashgabat and visit Neutrality Arch, Independence Park, Earthquake Memorial Complex, Ertogryl Gazi Mosque, Presidential Palace, National Museum of History (Tuesday closed). Stay overnight in Ashgabat.

Day 13: Mary – Ashgabat

Morning fly back to Ashgabat and visit the monument and park of Independence and the impressive Ertoghrul Ghazi Mosque. In the afternoon, drive north to Darvaza and its captivating Flaming Crater. Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely walk around the crater at sunset, followed by a delicious nomadic campsite dinner. Return to Ashgabat later in the evening. Stay two nights in Ashgabat.

Day 14: Ashgabat B D

Today will be your final day in Ashgabat, so make the most of it. Visit the Old Nisa Fortress, the former residence of the Parthian Empire. After lunch, explore the colourful Russian Bazaar.

Later, continue to the National Carpet Museum which exhibits an interesting collection of hand-made Turkmen carpets and various carpet objects.

After breakfast, transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport for your flight to Sandakan. Upon arrival in Sandakan, meet and transfer to Resort at Sepilok. Set in 25 acres of rainforest bordering the Sepilok forest reserve, a protected area rich in wildlife. Day 4: Proboscis Monkey

Morning will be in leisure. After lunch proceed to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary for the 1430 hours feeding session. Later, proceed to the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), an education center located within the Kabili Sepilok Forest Reserve. Before dinner head to the flying squirrel platform to see if the red giant flying squirrels emerge from their nests and fly across the resort.

Day 5: Sepilok – Abai B

Visit the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary where captive orangutans are reintroduced into the wild. Later depart for Sandakan in a boat and arrive at Abai and check-in at the hotel. Enjoy a guided night walk around the Lodge’s nature boardwalk and search for insects, birds, and other wildlife. Stay two nights in Jungle Lodge (non-air conditioned).

Day 6: Abai

Early morning take another boat

trip for bird watching and wildlife viewing at the nearby Pitas Lake. After breakfast at the lodge visit the nearby Abai village and participate in a treeplanting project. Enjoy a local-style lunch prepared and served by the villagers. Rest and relax before another cruise along the Kinabatangan River in search of wildlife.

Day 7: Abai – Sukau

After breakfast, check out and then cruise upriver to Sukau, searching for wildlife along the way. Arrive Sukau, check-in and have lunch. Later cruise up the Kinabatangan River to the Menanggul River in search of proboscis monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Stay two nights in Sukau.

Day 8: Sukau

0630 hours take a boat trip for bird watching and wildlife viewing at the nearby Ox Bow Lake. Rest of the day will be at leisure to enjoy own activities.

Day 9: Sukau – Sandakan

After early breakfast return to Sandakan by boat. Arrive at Sandakan

Sepilok

Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel for overnight stay. The remainder of the day is free at leisure to relax, swim in the pool or go for a walk on the resort’s own 1,050-metre long boardwalk. Evening meet to enjoy the farewell dinner.
