Welcome to Our 2025–2026 Season

Welcome to a brand-new season with the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation! I’m honored to step into the role of Board President as we continue TOCA’s proud tradition of celebrating the arts in all their beautiful diversity.

For over three decades, TOCA has been a cornerstone of creativity and connection in the South Bay. That legacy continues today because of the passion and dedication of our community—our artists, audiences, partners, donors, and volunteers. Together, we make it possible to bring inspiring, thought-provoking, and joy-filled performances to our stages.

At TOCA, we believe the arts are for everyone. Whether it’s your first time in the theater or you’ve been with us since the beginning, we invite you to explore this season’s lineup and find something that speaks to you. From laugh-out-loud comedy to moving musical performances and cultural celebrations, there’s truly something for every taste.

On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support. I hope you’ll consider deepening your connection with TOCA—subscribe to our season, become a donor, or lend your time as a volunteer. However you choose to engage, know that you are a vital part of our mission.

I look forward to seeing you at the theater—and to all the unforgettable moments we’ll share this season.

Warmly,

Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation

Welcome to the 2025/2026 season at the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation!

As we turn the page from our milestone 30th year and look ahead, I’m filled with gratitude—not only for where we’ve been, but for where we’re going. Each season is a new opportunity to bring people together, spark meaningful conversations, and celebrate the incredible power of live performance.

At TOCA, we’re not just curating a season—we’re creating space for discovery, connection, and joy. Whether it’s world-class music, laughout-loud comedy, soul-stirring theater, or family programming that ignites young imaginations, our goal remains the same: to offer something memorable for everyone who walks through our doors.

I continue to be inspired by the artists we work with, the team behind the scenes, and especially you— our audience, donors, and community partners—who make it all possible. Your enthusiasm and support are what keeps TOCA vibrant and thriving.

Please explore this brochure and find the shows that speak to you. And as always, if there’s anything we can do to make your experience better, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@TorranceArts.org.

Let’s make this season one to remember. See you at the theatre!

Kathy Kosins TO THE

LADIES OF COOL

A singular sound in the vocal world, Kosins exemplifies the intersection of jazz and soul.

Her latest single, “Auroras Light” has earned her the Most Played Vocalist on SiriusXM Watercolors and has garnered rave reviews in multiple publications including a feature story in the July 2025 issue of the prestigious UK magazine, Blues and Soul

In 2022, Kosins earned several top nominations for her duet with Frank McComb, “I Gotta Pinch Myself”, featuring Najee. The song was nominated Song of the Year at the SoulTracks Readers Choice Awards.

Her 2023 reimagined single “From A 2 B”, won Jazz Vocal Single Of The Year from The Independent Broadcasters Alliance.

In addition, a collaboration with renowned pianist, composer, and producer Bob Baldwin, “Let’s Rewind”, received another Number One spot across multiple Smooth Jazz Charts, the UK Soul Chart Top 30 and the Indie Soul Chart Top 30. Look for a new Baldwin/Kosins Collaboration in early 2026.

2024 brought exciting news for all discerning soul jazz fans: new collaborations with bassist, composer, producer, Paul Randolph, (formerly of Jazzanova) released 3 new singles under the project name, DetroitCentriX, with more to follow in 2025-2026.

Kosins continues to celebrate the continuation of success that her sixth studio album, Uncovered Soul has gained across commercial radio.

Uncovered Soul released on Maristar, is a celebration of Kosins’s soul-infused roots, tracing back to the artist’s upbringing during the legendary Motown years in Detroit. Kosins delivers her most

intense and intimate singing yet and wows audiences with her impeccable, flawless phrasing and a deep-rooted passion for telling the story. With Kamau Kenyatta, the stellar longtime producer of Gregory Porter, by her side, Kosins continues to take listeners on a dynamic musical journey with an eclectic musical palette. This soul-infused project sat at #1 on the Official Indie Soul Chart, where it was named Jazz Album of the Year.

Uncovered Soul, dubbed a “consummate work of art” by GinaLovesJazz, garnered international attention from publications including SoulTracks, Blues And Soul, Echoes Magazine, All About Jazz, Jazz Journal, Jazzwise, and PopMatters. Kosins made her BBC debut on the Robert Elms Show and an in studio appearance on Jazz FM.

Kosins, the Highest Charting Vocalist for 2020 on the Smooth Jazz Network has remained on their radio affiliates, including Billboard reporting stations. She was nominated by the Smooth Jazz Network for Breakout Artist of the Year.

After successful engagements at the 2019 Blue Note at Sea and Blue Note Beijing, a supporting performance for Gregory Porter in Atlanta, performances at The Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society’s famed winter jazz series, and performances to sold-out audiences in Istanbul and the

UK, along with multiple festivals and clubs both nationally and internationally, Detroit vocalist and award winning composer Kathy Kosins is thrilled to celebrate the continued success of her music which has earned critical acclaim, international recognition and a devoted following.

As a follow up to the Uncovered Soul album, Kosins has written and released 12 singles to date. With new releases arriving every quarter, watch for upcoming tour dates both at home and abroad.

When not touring the USA or Europe, Kathy, a true renaissance woman, excels as a painter. Her abstract acrylics on canvas are influenced by the cubist paintings of the ’50s. Commissioned paintings are held in private collections and Kosins continues to sell her work at both gallery shows and concert performances. Integrating her art of the visual and the aural nature, Kosins is bringing her painting to the stage, by incorporating live-painting at every performance. Her work is currently being displayed and represented by a notable Detroit gallery.

A past recipient of the Michigan Council for the Arts award Jazz Composer of the Year, Kosins has received grants from Michigan’s ArtServe advocacy group. Her clinics and workshops teach performance skills alongside business strategies for the independent artist and have been a success at over 200 colleges and universities across the USA.

Kosins has recorded, performed and/or shared the stage with many well-known Jazz and R&B artists to include Don Was, Gregory Porter, Terrance Blanchard, Gerald Clayton, Terell Stafford, Randy Brecker, Aaron Goldberg, Reuben Rogers, Eric Harland, Eric Marienthal, Matt Wilson, Peter Bernstein, Tamir Hendelman, Michael Henderson, Peabo Bryson, Earl Klugh, The Rippingtons, Jonathon Butler, Cyrus Chestnut, Larry Goldings, James Moody, Kevin Mahogany, Bernard Purdie, Red Holloway, Mitch Ryder, Was/Not Was, Marshall Crenshaw, Al Hudson, Frank McComb, Bob Baldwin, and Dee Lucas.
