Portsmouth,Virginia as a Christian rapper. Share with us your testimony of how music impacted your life and how you got into the music industry.

I haven’t always been a kingdom rap artist, however I started making music with my cousin at 13 years old, and I always thought that I had a gift for song. Even the first song I’ve ever recorded. It was with two radios; one recorded and the other played the instrumental. Although

I was offered my first record deal at the age of 15, it wasn’t until I was around 18 that I really knew I had something special. One day we were on the Virginia

Beach oceanfront, chilling walking down the strip and there was a large street cypher going on. As

I rapped, I could see the facial expressions of people change,

mouths dropped, and I knew then that what I was saying was fire. From that cypher, I started my professional music career. There I met a renowned DJ in the area and started connecting with people all over the state, performing at local spots and recording professionally. That’s my origin story, but since then I had an extensive music career as a secular artist, a major hit single and even co-owned a record label. But my testimony for how I became a gospel rap artist is something different.

2. People may not know that you weren’t always a kingdom rap artist when your music career began in your teenage years. So what exactly made you transition your style into Christian Hip Hop music?

There was a time in my life that I hit rock bottom, involved with legal troubles, and surrounded by fake friends, I was lost. I sought out the love and peace that I had been taught existed in God’s presence as a child, so I turned to the Lord for a new beginning. Through that process I was stripped of all ambitions and desires of being a rapper. For 7 sevens I had no passion for creating music, all I wanted to do was serve the Lord through praise and provide for my family. But there was a season that my son was going through teenage rebellion, and I wanted to find a way to bond with him. I knew he was into music, so I decided to call up an old connect and take him to the recording studio. My intent was to show him that you can make music, but music can also have a positive purpose, so I recorded a few dope gospel rap songs. That started it all. All I wanted to do was show him a better way, but God had a plan for me to minister through music all over the world, and in my obedience, I have been doing just that.

3. Your music video talk show, The Rain N Starzz

Show, gives artists the opportunity to share their music to the public and gain exposure and support from new fans.

How did this amazing concept come about?

Wow! The Raine N Starzz

Show is simply divine intervention. I met my cohost and engineer Dr. Lady Raine through a connection out of

Nigeria. I did an interview on her show and station Prayz.

FM Radio and we kept in contact afterwards. Out of the blue one day, I caught her show on the live and tuned in, and she noticed I was on chat. She began speaking to me in the middle of her show saying that God was telling her that we were supposed to be doing a show

together and that we needed to talk after the show. There were some attempts at networking on another project prior to this but it fell out. But this idea of the Raine N Starzz Show was all God. We embraced the opportunity to build together. We put our ideas, purposes, and resources together and now we have one of the top internet video/radio shows in the world. The vision for the show is to move mountains for independent gospel and inspirational artists by merging more established artists that still have a heart for reaching more people with their ministries, testimonies, and music with indie artists on the same platform. The concept is that it all belongs to God, so we fellowship and share all kingdoms gifts and talents on the show.

4. What would you be doing right now, if it weren’t for your music career?

If it weren’t for my music career, I would still be working a 9-5 and ministering to those who needed to hear a word of encouragement on the job. My music career led me to leave my trade field and pursue music and ministry full time. So now I own my brand GG2G which is music and clothing, a financial services company, a music management/ promotion company, I’m a

TV/radio show host and radio station promotion manager.

It all allows for me to continue serving the Lord with all my gifts and talents.

5. Your recent single “Fading” is an absolutely amazing track! Tell me about the process of making this dope song in the studio and how fans can relate to the song.

My newest single to be released is called “Fading” is a lyrical monster and with the help of

Hope Sheree on the hook, it is an amazing project. The song was written from a personal experience in my life and involved me having to learn how to overcome a distressing situation and mindset by having to look back on how far God has brought me. I had to remember my own rocky path taken so that I wouldn’t falsely judge another. The song gives insight into my life as an artist having to embrace his past life, mistakes made, grace given, favor shown to see that

I was already victorious over my current battle, which gave me the strength to fight for this person in my life; This song is truly a tribute to what God has brought me through. This track is an anthem for “overcomers”.

I believe I delivered a stunning body of work that takes you through my downfall as a worldly man and brings you into my kingdom success. The hook melodically echoes the words, `fading away to symbolize “out with the old in with the new”.

This is truly a masterpiece, a work of art that will have you feeling “on top of the world again”. The single was released on DAF Gospel Records

May 27th, 2022. This song is kingdom fire!
