LAKE TAHOE During winter, we swap the towering treetops of Yosemite for some powder action in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Straddled across the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the sunniest places in the world outside Australia, averaging 300 days of sunshine and 12 metres of snow per year. Staying in the southern area of the lake means access to some of the best slopes in the region and après ski options ranging from hot chocolate to nightclubs. If you’re yet to join the ranks of Red Bull’s extreme team, there are plenty of non-skiing activities on offer. Jump in a helicopter and check out the terrain from above, take a snowmobile tour, go ice-skating or just chill out in town. The following trips include 3 nights/2 days at Lake Tahoe between December and March. These nights replace 1 night in Vegas and 2 nights in Mariposa/Yosemite National Park.
