Founder Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-1871) founded the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). His vision of “Education for All” is manifest in our institution. He was an excellent educationist and held a deep respect for learning. Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara was a visionary, an educationist and a social reformer of the 19th century, whose life was dedicated to the emancipation of society from discrimination, ignorance and oppression. He opened schools for all no matter caste, creed and gender. He established printing presses to PUblish books; he built homes for the poor and worked for the empowerment of girls. Perhaps, he took the roads seldom taken. Even today, we follow Saint Chavara’s path which continues to motivate many to venture into the impossible.
