As one of the seven summits, Aconcagua is the tallest mountain in the Southern and Western hemispheres, reaching a height of nearly 7000m. Aconcagua was first summitted in 1897 by a nine-member team of explorers with Matthias Zurbriggen being the first to set foot on the mountain’s peak. There are a few primary routes you can take to reach the summit; on our trek, we ventured forth from the Vascas Valley on the False Polish Glacier route.
