The Firstenburg Family helps the Free Clinic operate more smoothly with $40,000 IT grant The Free Clinic has received a $40,000 grant over two years from the Firstenburg Foundation, to update the clinic’s information technology systems. “We were operating with a server from 2003 and very outdated computers,” said Free Clinic Executive Director, Barbe West. “Our IT systems are the backbone of the organization. Our Internet connections, email, and client databases are essential for efficient operation, and ultimately, in order to realize our vision of quality, compassionate care.” The Firstenburg Foundation grant has made it possible to replace workstation computers, as well as purchase updated software, a new server, and security protection. Prior to the grant, the Free Clinic was running a risk of irrecoverable database loss due to the out-of-date server and computers required to serve patients effectively in the medical, dental, dispensary and specialty care coordination programs. Lost time due to computer and/or server failures could create delays in serving uninsured patients. “Giving back to the community has always been a part of the Firstenburg family’s ethos,” says Marc Grignon, COO of Northwest Equity Holdings and the Firstenburg Foundation. “It began with Ed and Mary Firstenburg, who instilled a culture of philanthropy in their children. I am certain they would have viewed the Free Clinic as a provider of essential services for people in need in our community.”

“I am very grateful fo find a place like this at a time of need. A friend told me about this place and I’m so nicely surprised. Thank you for your care and caring!” - a Free Clinic patient One of many ways to give If you have a Fred Meyer Rewards Card, you can generate dollars for the Free Clinic each time you shop with it.
