The newly released documentary We Are Tomorrow is an emotional and authentic film that dives deep into the human stories of four People of Tomorrow, including the Brazilian DJ Alok. It shows Tomorrowland not through its grandeur but from their personal views. In it, Alok shows that for him, music is the truest form of selfexpression and a way of connecting with the world: “I think that Tomorrowland is a festival where it is impossible to get in and to leave as the same person.” We Are Tomorrow is available now on You Tube.

THE GREAT LIBRARY This summer, Tomorrowland opened up an on-festival-site studio called the Great Library. Here, festivalgoers could dive into the creative concepts behind the festival’s many chapters. With hand-drawn sketches, stage-making processes on paper and artwork concepts, the Great Library offered a glimpse into the creative teamwork that makes dreams come true. If you’re looking for special edition artwork to inspire you from home, some limited edition pieces are still available via store.tomorrowland.com/pages/art

No need to worry about local exchange rates, as this weekend allows for one currency only; Pearls. A Pearl translates to R$9 and is stored on your festival bracelet, which can be topped up at one of the Cashless TopUp points. Leftover Pearls added on-site can be refunded via a manual refund form for a refund fee of 1 Pearl; the deadline is October 31, 23:59 BRT. In case you only topped up your Bracelet online before the festival, you will receive an automatic refund for your unused Pearls.

Though temporary, you can call it home for the weekend, and it might just be the best place you have ever lived. So make yourself at home, introduce yourself to your neighbours and pinpoint the exact spot of your camp on your map, especially if you’d like to invite a guest over tonight...

IMPORTANT INFORMATION OPENING HOURS Opening on Wednesday, October 11 at 11:00 BRT, you can make yourself at home on DreamVille until Sunday, October 15, 12:00. Every festival day (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) starts with a Daybreak Session at The Gathering between 11:00 to 14:00 BRT. You can move between the festival grounds and the campsite as you please, except between 14:00 and 16:00, when it is not possible to return to the campsite for safety reasons. Just be mindful that you will have to pass through security every time.

FIRST AID Accidents happen, so of course you will find First Aid services available around the clock. Whether you think you might need help or you want someone to check on a friend, just look for the red & white cross signs and ask for help. Look after each other and do not leave your friends behind. Better safe than sorry!

PHARMACIES At the Marketplace, you will find a drugstore for simple medical necessities, such as light painkillers, bandaids, mosquito spray and so on. The drugstore is open on October 11 until 21:00, on October 12 and 13 from 08:00 to 20:00, and on October 14 from 08:00 to 12:00. For medical emergencies, please refer to the First Aid workers.

LOST & FOUND

SHOWERS

Sadly, they won’t have your new fling’s phone number if you lost their contact details late last night. However, the Lost & Found booth at the Info Point (open 24/7) next to the Chill Area is the place to go to when you find someone else’s belongings or when you’ve lost something that is important to you. Treat each other’s valuables like you hope they will treat yours.

Are you opting for the ‘full’ camping experience, or do you prefer to keep it clean and comfortable? In case of the latter, there are showers available throughout DreamVille. If you’re staying at the Magnificent Greens or Easy Tents Area, you can rinse and repeat between 08:00 and 20:00. Here, 2,25 Pearls will get you 4 minutes of wonderfully warm water. If you’re staying at the Spectacular Easy Tents, showers are available 24/7 for free.

DISTRICT HOUSES Painted in the colours of the national flag, being green, yellow and blue, the Magnificent Greens area has District Houses, where you will find campsite hosts who know this village like the back of their hands. Go here for all kinds of information, to fill your air mattress or a high five. They’re here to help!

CAMPING HOSTS Speaking of which, the Camping Hosts can be found not just at the District Houses, but also roaming DreamVille to be of assistance. They know it all (or, the things they need to know, anyway) and are happy to help. Can’t find your tent, need medical help, or require an extra pair of hands to pitch your tent? SAFETY Look after yourself and each other. When you take care of others and their belongings the way you would like to be looked after, everyone will have the best possible time. For peace of mind, store your valuables in the lockers (available until sold out). If you need someone to talk to, look for the teams wearing ‘Respect’ T-shirts; whatever happened, they are there to listen and help.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE Respect your surroundings: reduce, reuse, recycle. Both DreamVille as well as the festival grounds offer every opportunity imaginable to recycle your waste. Not sure what goes where? The mobile recycle teams, carrying recycle backpacks, can answer any and every question. 9

Born out of the ethos of unity and positivity, it envisions a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive. Having already built Music & Arts Schools in Nepal and India and having supported initiatives like Mobile School with impact all over the world, the Tomorrowland Foundation focuses on supporting non-profit organisations. It aims to give children and youngsters in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities the chance to express themselves creatively through music, arts and dance, and to work on their self-esteem. After having supported NGOs with a global impact such as Mobile School, an organisation that brings mobile classrooms to children on street corners, the Tomorrowland Foundation teamed up with Kolkata-based NGO Ek Tara last December. Together they opened a Tomorrowland Foundation Music & Arts School in India, the second of its kind in the world, the other one being in Nepal. But it was also time to return the love to Itu, Tomorrowland’s Brazilian home. That is why the Foundation teamed up with Tecendo Infâncias Institute to empower young minds to dream big and realise their potential. Together, they will bring their vision for children to life at the Tomorrowland Foundation Music and Arts School here in Itu.

Depois de apoiar ONGs com impacto global, como a Mobile School, uma organização que leva salas de aula móveis para crianças que vivem nas ruas, a Tomorrowland Foundation se uniu à ONG Ek Tara, sediada em Kolkata, em dezembro passado. Em conjunto, abriram uma escola de música e artes da Tomorrowland Foundation na Índia, a segunda do gênero no mundo, sendo a outra no Nepal. Mas também era hora de retribuir o amor a Itu, o lar brasileiro do Tomorrowland. É por isso que a Fundação se uniu ao Instituto Tecendo Infâncias para capacitar as mentes jovens a sonharem alto e a realizar seu potencial. Juntos, eles colocarão em prática sua visão para as crianças na Escola de Música e Artes da Tomorrowland Foundation, aqui em Itu.

The school will offer classes in music, dance, arts, theatre and other visual and performing arts. It will give vulnerable children in Itu a chance to express themselves creatively, to work on their selfesteem, and to create avenues to explore their talents and interests. All of this, coupled with proper education, will help its pupils to break out of the cycle of poverty and lead more fulfilling lives. This also sows the seeds for a brighter, more equitable future for generations to come.

In 2023, his restaurant was considered the 36th best in all of Brazil by Exame, and was named ‘the highlight of the year’ by Prazeres da Mesa magazine.

TELEVISION TO TOMORROWLAND Chef Giovanna Grossi from Animus restaurant, a contestant on the Iron Chef Brasil show and Veja magazine’s revelation of the year in 2022, brings her essence from Maceió (AL), where she spent much of her childhood. Giovanna uses techniques she developed in Barcelona, which will undoubtedly impress the public’s palate.

“I’M INFLUENCED BY EVERY PLACE I PERFORM”

What’s going to be the best thing about performing at Tomorrowland in your own country?

Qual será a melhor parte de se apresentar no Tomorrowland no seu próprio país?

“It’s quite significant, especially after a seven-year hiatus since the last Tomorrowland Brasil in 2016. Artistically, I’ve gone through many changes during this time, and I believe the audience evolved as well. Today, I see a greater interest in electronic music. More people listen to it and attend parties, so the level of expectation has risen. Being part of Tomorrowland comes with the responsibility of being part of a memorable experience. For me, it’s even more special, as I’ll be performing the closing set.”

“É muito significativo, especialmente depois de um hiato de sete anos desde a última edição do Tomorrowland Brasil, em 2016. Do ponto de vista artístico, eu passei por muitas mudanças durante esse período, e acredito que o público também tenha evoluído. Hoje em dia eu vejo um interesse maior pela música eletrônica. Há mais pessoas ouvindo e indo a festas, então o nível de expectativa aumenta. Fazer parte do Tomorrowland implica a responsabilidade de fazer parte de uma experiência memorável. É ainda mais especial para mim, porque eu vou fazer o show de encerramento.”

What does it take to do a great remix? “Persistence, a keen ear, an interest in discovering new sounds, and a lack of prejudice towards other music genres are all crucial qualities. I say this because many of the remixes I produce take months, sometimes even years, to complete. It is a process of trial and error and it involves a maturation period until I achieve the desired result.”

Do you feel there is a certain ‘Brazilianness’ in the music you make? If so, how would you define that element? “In the beginning, they used to label the music I made as Brazilian Bass. Gradually, that term began to fade, mainly because foreign artists also started producing Brazilian Bass. Today, I tour all over the world and I’m influenced by every place I perform and by the audiences who come to see me. But there is still a piece of Brazil in me. I believe that we, as Brazilians, have a knack for taking external references and making them our own; giving them a fresh perspective, a new look.”

What’s the healthiest thing about partying? “There’s a concept known as ‘Egregore’ that refers to the power we create when we gather in the same environment – the sum of our vibrational states, thoughts, and feelings forms a field where we all connect and share this web of energy, radiating to the rest of the world. I believe that during a concert, a festival, or a party, this is exactly what happens.”

They say DJs don’t dance. Do you still dance? “I’m not very good at dancing; my expression comes through my music and the connection, messages, and feelings it awakens in me and the audience.”

O que é necessário para fazer um ótimo remix? “ A persistência, o ouvido apurado, o interesse em descobrir novos sons e não ter preconceito com outros gêneros musicais são qualidades essenciais. Eu digo isso porque muitos dos remixes que eu produzo levam meses, às vezes até anos, para serem concluídos. É um processo de tentativa e erro e envolve um período de maturação até que eu alcance o resultado que eu espero.”

Você sente que há uma certa “brasilidade” na música que você faz? Se sim, como você definiria esse elemento? “No começo, eles costumavam rotular a música que eu fazia como Brazilian Bass. Aos poucos, esse termo começou a desaparecer, principalmente porque artistas estrangeiros também começaram a produzir Brazilian Bass. Hoje faço turnês pelo mundo todo e sou influenciado por cada lugar onde me apresento e pelo público que vem me ver. Mas ainda tem um pedaço do Brasil em mim. Acredito que nós, como brasileiros, temos o dom de pegar referências externas e transformá-las nas nossas, dando a elas uma nova perspectiva, um novo olhar.”

Qual é o aspecto mais saudável em curtir uma festa? “Há um conceito conhecido como ‘Egrégora’ que se refere ao poder que criamos quando estamos juntos num mesmo ambiente - a soma de nossos estados vibracionais, pensamentos e sentimentos forma um campo onde todos nós nos conectamos e compartilhamos essa rede de energia, irradiando para o resto do mundo. Eu acredito que durante um show, um festival ou uma festa, é exatamente isso que acontece.”

Dizem que DJs não dançam; você ainda dança? “Não sou muito bom na dança; minha expressão vem por meio da minha música e da conexão, das mensagens e dos sentimentos que ela desperta em mim e no público.” 29

AMBER BROOS CROSS GENERATIONAL TECHNO THURSDAY | 20:40 - 21:40 MAINSTAGE

ANNA (Brazil, 1985) and Amber Broos (Belgium, 2002) are two incredible female DJs/producers. Born on two different continents, representing two generations, they are both mad about techno and share one and the same mission: to make music and share it with the world. With releases on Drumcode, Plus 8 and Afterlife, ANNA is naturally the more experienced of the two, while Amber debuted with her track ‘Idolize’ in 2019 and is now closely associated with Tomorrowland. Let’s ask them the very same questions to see how similar, or different, the two techno A-ladies are.

Who is your biggest-ever techno inspiration and why? ANNA: “Richie Hawtin. He is a true pioneer. He never stops innovating and always pushes the boundaries of music, production and technology. His relentless commitment to progress and creativity reminds me that evolution is at the core of techno.” Amber Broos: “Techno is bigger than ever today and this is partly due to two Belgian DJs: Charlotte de Witte and Amelie Lens. They were my greatest inspiration. It’s impossible for me to choose between the two of them.” What is your favourite genre outside of techno and why? ANNA: “Ambient. I recently released an ambient album because this genre is an integral part of my life.” Amber Broos: “My first records were given to me by my father when I was twelve, at a flea market in Leuven, Belgium, where we found original Daft Punk and Nirvana records. The first record I bought myself was ‘Rumours’ by Fleetwood Mac.”

What was your first experience as a raver? Where did you go? ANNA: “I can’t recall my very first experience because I’ve been immersed in the club scene from a young age thanks to my father, who owned a club in Brazil. By the time I was sixteen, I was already organising my own small-scale raves in my city.” Amber Broos: “When I was fourteen, Charlotte de Witte came to my hometown and I was allowed to go to the performance with my friends. A life-changing moment.” What is the highlight of your career so far? ANNA: “It’s challenging to pick a single highlight in my career because, for me, it’s not about one specific moment. My journey has been a gift, filled with both highs and lows, each contributing to my growth and evolution as an artist. Performing on all three days of Tomorrowland Brasil feels like a fullcircle moment, though.”

How does it feel to play at Tomorrowland in Brazil? ANNA: “I have such high expectations! Brazilian fans are known for their passion and the Brazilian crowd loves Tomorrowland. I always meet so many Brazilians at Tomorrowland Belgium and after a seven-year wait, the anticipation here is at an all-time high.” Amber Broos: “Brazil is truly breathtaking. The warm culture and hospitality of the people already makes it one of my favourite countries. I can’t wait to meet the Brazilian crowd and rave with them!”

Amber Broos: “My Mainstage performance at Tomorrowland Belgium was the most memorable moment of my career. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it!”

ANNA (Brasil, 1985) e Amber Broos (Bélgica, 2002) são duas DJs/produtoras incríveis. Nascidas em dois continentes diferentes, representando duas gerações, as duas são loucas por techno e têm uma mesma missão: fazer música e compartilhá-la com o mundo. Depois de lançar seus trabalhos com as gravadoras Drumcode, Plus 8 e Afterlife, ANNA é naturalmente a mais experiente das duas, enquanto Amber estreou com sua faixa “Idolize” em 2019 e agora está fortemente ligada ao Tomorrowland. MARTIN GARRIX Martin Garrix created ‘Animals’, one of the biggest electronic music hits of all time, about ten years ago. Obviously, at only 27 years of age, Martijn is still going very strong today, conquering the world with his very own STMPD imprint as well as the compelling tracks of his most recent album, ‘Sentio’. Do you remember the first time you heard electronic music played for a crowd? And what was it like? “My first experience with electronic music was when I watched Tiësto close the Olympics in 2008. I remember being immediately captured by the music, the energy and the good vibes that radiated off of it. After that, I started experimenting with electronic music myself.” Who did you look up to as a teenager and who is your biggest inspiration now? “Tiësto was my biggest musical inspiration when I started and he still is to this day. Nowadays, I love listening to new sounds. Some of my personal favourite artists are Coldplay, Jungle and Michael Kiwanuka.” Your label STMPD RCRDS functions like a family. Artists love hanging out in the studio. Is having a sense of community and good people around you important to you?

“The people around me have been of so much value during my career. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family, friends and team and this is also what we wanted to build with STMPD RCRDS: a creative hub where everyone feels welcome, respected and appreciated.” What is the biggest do and the biggest don’t for a DJ? “The biggest ‘don’t’ is doubting yourself. Experimenting until you feel like you have found your own sound that you believe in, is the biggest ‘do’.” Name one new track that you love playing in your sets. “I love playing ‘One Nation’ by Julian Jordan and Eleganto. I’ve been playing it for a while now and we will be releasing it on STMPD RCRDS very soon, which is exciting!”

You’ve played Tomorrowland Belgium, Tomorrowland Winter and now finally Tomorrowland Brasil. What does Tomorrowland mean to you? “Playing Tomorrowland Belgium and Tomorrowland Winter was an incredible experience, and now, performing at Tomorrowland Brasil is without a doubt going to be very special. The Tomorrowland team embraced me like family during their European festivals, and I’m eager to reciprocate that warmth in my own country. In addition, I want to introduce a new generation to this incredible event and at the same time, introduce the Tomorrowland team to the next generation of upcoming Brazilian music producers.” Brazil is a country with an impressive musical legacy. Who is your favourite Brazilian artist and why? “The band Charlie Brown Jr. comes to mind. They were great songwriters who wrote songs we could relate to growing up. The lyrics were honest and raw. They shared their own experiences and

as kids, we could really relate to what these songs were about. I had the opportunity to remix their track ‘Ceu Azul’, which still makes occasional appearances in my set list when I’m in Brazil.” Does the name Vintage Culture come from your love for old music? “For me, the name Vintage Culture represents the timeless music that came before me. It’s about preserving the spirit of this great sound that influenced so many and blending it with the cultures of today.” What are the key ingredients of a great Vintage Culture track or remix? “I strive to create work that is artistically important and I create music as an expression of my own inner feelings, thoughts and emotions. When producing tracks, it is important to always challenge myself and to evolve. Of course, I want my fans to enjoy my songs. But if I were only trying to fulfill other people’s expectations, I wouldn’t be creating my best work.”

Você tocou no Tomorrowland Bélgica, no Tomorrowland Winter e agora, finalmente, no Tomorrowland Brasil. O que o Tomorrowland significa para você? “Tocar no Tomorrowland Bélgica e no Tomorrowland Winter foi uma experiência incrível, e agora, tocar no Tomorrowland Brasil será, sem dúvida, muito especial. A equipe do Tomorrowland me recebeu como se eu fosse da família durante os festivais europeus, e estou ansioso para retribuir esse carinho em meu próprio país. Além disso, quero apresentar uma nova geração a esse evento incrível e, ao mesmo tempo, apresentar a equipe do Tomorrowland à próxima geração de produtores musicais brasileiros”. O Brasil é um país com um legado musical impressionante. Quem é seu artista brasileiro favorito e por quê? “A banda Charlie Brown Jr. me vem à mente. Eles foram grandes compositores que escreveram músicas que podíamos nos identificar enquanto crescíamos. As letras eram honestas e cruas. Eles compartilharam suas próprias experiências e, como crianças, pudemos realmente nos identificar com o tema dessas canções.

Tive a oportunidade de remixar a faixa ‘Céu Azul’, que ainda aparece de vez em quando na minha setlist quando estou no Brasil.” O nome Vintage Culture vem do seu amor por música antiga? “Para mim, o nome Vintage Culture representa a música atemporal que veio antes de mim. Significa preservar o espírito desse som incrível que influenciou tantas pessoas e misturá-lo com as culturas de hoje.” Quais são os principais ingredientes de uma ótima faixa ou remix do Vintage Culture? “Eu me esforço para criar um trabalho que seja artisticamente importante e crio música como uma expressão dos meus próprios sentimentos, pensamentos e emoções. Ao produzir as faixas, é importante sempre me desafiar e evoluir. É claro que quero que meus fãs gostem das minhas músicas. Mas se eu estivesse apenas tentando atender às expectativas das outras pessoas, eu não estaria criando meu melhor trabalho.”

The self-acclaimed ‘psymama’ brought herself to the attention of underground techno fans via Berlin-based streaming platform HÖR only two years ago and look where she is now: right here to entertain you, People of Tomorrow. You debuted at Tomorrowland last year and already, it’s hard to imagine the festival without you. Did you see it coming? “It’s very flattering to hear that, thank you. I could have only dreamt of this! I have a lot of respect for the whole Tomorrowland team, and it’s such a pleasure to work with them.” What’s your favourite: a pounding techno beat, a thumping psytrance beat or a punishing hardstyle beat? “A thumping psytrance beat, for sure! It’s definitely what resonates with me the most.” To be honest, you mix them all up anyway, right? What do you love so much about this versatile approach to DJing? “The numerous opportunities it gives me to experiment. It’s very liberating to be able to explore the endless directions of DJing, without fear of imaginative borders.” We’ve seen a lot of appreciation from your side

for Nina Kraviz. What do you love about her and about working with her? “She doesn’t have any rules. She follows her instincts and her intuition without being influenced by her surroundings. We are like two wild horses.” Psytrance seems to finally have broken into the mainstream over the past few years. How do you feel about it? “I get asked this a lot. I think it’s amazing and really nice to finally see it getting the recognition it deserves.” Can you tell us something about your own label ARTCORE? What’s the vision behind it? “The primary aim behind creating this label was to acknowledge and elevate the unique sound I’ve always been drawn to, which, until then, had not found a suitable representation in any existing label. ARTCORE will not be confined to a single genre. Instead, the emphasis will be on preserving authenticity and ensuring high-quality musical output.”

Você estreou no Tomorrowland no ano passado e já é difícil imaginar o festival sem a sua presença. Você esperava por isso? “É muito gratificante ouvir isso, obrigada. Eu só sonhava com isso! Tenho muito respeito por toda a equipe do Tomorrowland, e é um prazer trabalhar com eles.” Qual é a sua favorita: uma batida de techno pulsante, uma batida de psytrance marcante ou uma batida violenta de hardstyle? “Uma batida de psytrance marcante, com certeza! O que você mais gosta nessa abordagem versátil de DJ? “As inúmeras oportunidades que isso me dá para experimentar. Qual é a visão por trás dela? “O principal objetivo por trás da criação desse selo foi reconhecer e elevar o som único que sempre me atraiu e que, até então, não havia encontrado uma representação adequada em nenhum selo existente. A ARTCORE não se limitará a um único gênero. Em vez disso, a ênfase será na preservação da autenticidade e na garantia de uma produção musical de alta qualidade.”
