End it with a splash Ready for the weekend’s final sounds? Head to the Freedom stage for a battle between Coone and Hard Driver, go for a refreshing dive at the Mainstage with Martin Garrix, raise the temperature with Steve Aoki at the Organ of Harmony or submit yourself to Nina Kraviz’ barrage of beats at Atmosphere. Wherever the currents of Planaxis lead you this on final day, make sure you go together – because the true purpose of music is to Unite Forever.
Citizens of Planaxis,
UNI T E FOREVER ! Nothing lasts forever, and unfortunately, this is your last day of Tomorrowland. Advice? Just go where you haven’t been, eat what you haven’t eaten and enjoy the music one last time. If you still can’t get over that cutie standing next to you earlier, this would be a suitable time to track them down and break the ice with mutual memories of the weekend.
Guardians of the Ocean,
M A K E I T COUNT ! Be a keeper of your gifts. Cherish your time. Eat good food. Use earplugs to avoid too much noise. Meet new people from all over the world. Memorize and share precious moments! You should never toss a true collector's item, but if you must, the Paper bin is the right one.
Peo pl e
o f To m orrow,
YOU ARE ONE WITH THE WATER! Harmony is a wonderful phenomenon. It is contagious: wherever it is established, it works against chaos, producing the music of friendship and coexistence. This weekend, friends, you stand under the sign of the Spira Mirabilis. Like a sea creature’s shell, it radiates slowly outwards from the centre, spreading harmony through space, species, and even through time itself. Its effects are everywhere to be found. From the farthest reaches of the Holy Grounds, where the Theatre Formidable has the crowd facing a central stage in unison, to the chasm where the Arch has risen from the murky depths, 1
new connections are shaping up – and not just between the human inhabitants of our underwater realm. Scaly, glutinous and strange though they may be, the ocean dwellers living here since time immemorial have become your cherished companions as well. Now – today marks the last day of your stay in the singular realm of Planaxis, friends. Be sure to keep expanding our mystical spiral: radiate your inner strength outwards in response to its sonorous call. Build upon your earlier exploits, touch the hearts of as many others as you can, and spread the harmonious energy of life itself!

THE STORY OF PLANAXIS No one knows exactly how, why, or when Planaxis was built. The identity of its Architect is long lost to history, its first inhabitants are no longer with us. One thing was preserved for all these years, however, and has surfaced with the call for the People of Tomorrow to unite: a diary, waterlogged and old, but supposedly belonging to none other than the visionary mind behind Planaxis. The following is its final entry.
Beauty. Harmony. Completion.
were its actual properties. When drawn out as a spiral, it forms the Spira Mirabilis. It is done. This perfect spiral is the greatest force of harmony in nature. It provides the blueprint When I set off to build a new home for all things in the world, for the peaceful amidst the beauty of the ocean, I never coexistence of humans and animals. imagined ending up here – at the centre of a metaphysical spiral connecting all that Planaxis was built according to this most lives. miraculous of principles. Now, at long last, it is finished. More than just a guardian Drawing up building plans, I found of the seas, it has become a monument to the Golden Ratio soon enough, in the the unity of all of life. It is now housing proportions of the humble sea snail’s shell, a sizable population – about 200,000 the curvature of the seahorse’s tail… people, in fact. My only hope is that everywhere. What I had not yet realized they’ll preserve Tomorrow – forever.

RISE AND SHINE
DREAMVILLE After a tropical day in Planaxis, the People of Tomorrow woke up to more refreshing temperatures on Saturday. The pleasantly cool morning air is calling them to the ocean again: it is time to get out of those shells and dive into the wondrous world of Tomorrowland. While some are still lying in bed next to their (new) lovers, others are following their noses to the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread or are washing off their worries at the showers. In short: DreamVille is waking up to a new day in paradise. Whether you’re a morning person or not, one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. So take notes, because we asked around for the most positive ways to start your day at DreamVille!
Detlev (33) from Belgium: “For me the best days start off easy. I’m just relaxing and waking up in my tent while reading the newspaper. I love to reminisce about the day before by looking at all the pictures.”
For Larissa (25) from Canada, doing her make-up is the best way to feel positive again. But that’s not all: “The best way to start your day is with love. Love from your friends, your lover or a complete stranger. Just spread it everywhere, especially in the morning.”
WORKOUT SCHEDULE CHILLOUT 09:00 Yoga Nidra 09:45 Body Balance 10:15 Kundalini Yoga 10:45 Animal Flow 11:15 PowerYoga 12:00 Yin Yoga

“Coffee and croissants!” That is what Melanie (26) and Alissa (26) from Germany yell when we ask them for their ideal morning. “We have the same routine at home, so at DreamVille we try to keep it intact. The only difference is that here, there are many other people to have breakfast with.”

Lana (23) from Belgium is in a hurry to get to the festival as fast as possible. “Every morning I’m in a hurry to go to work, but today I just want to go to the festival quickly. After this I will put on my favourite lipstick and I’ll be ready to take on the world!” Go get ‘em, girl!
Marc (22) from Germany really needed a shower after yesterday. “I hope that it will be a bit colder today and that everybody will be happy!” Well, Marc, your smile is the only sunshine we need.
B E LG I U M
“We’re just sitting here wishing everybody a good morning.” Cyril (21) and Victorien (21) from Belgium are spreading happiness all over DreamVille. Armed with orange juice and a full box of cereals, they’re surely starting their day in a positive way.
Vincent (21) and Juul (20), mumbling through their toothpaste: “More people should brush their teeth, that would do everybody good.” The boys will be on the lookout for cute girls today. Vincent: “We’re looking for girls who taste better than the Smurf parade I have in my mouth right now.”
COMMIT TO BE FIT As the weather is getting easier to cope with, it is time to work out a little bit harder. Coen, personal trainer at the Recovery Area, shares a move which is easily performed at the Area or next to your tent. Coen: “One-legged burpees are great for getting your blood pumping when you’re having trouble waking up. Besides, they’re a good way to burn fat.” They’re good for your legs, your butt and your core, he also explains. If you’re not drenched in sweat by the end of this exercise, you didn’t train hard enough! 5
1. Lower yourself down to a squat position with one leg lifted off the floor. 2. Kick your standing foot back to go low to the ground and assume a pushup position. 3. Jump back to the squat position and then go up as high as you can. Repeat on the other leg.

“Our tent sunk to the depths of Planaxis last night. It was a very cheap one and it couldn’t handle the rain. Now we’re out drying all our stuff in the sun.” That won’t stop Cesar (38) and Raphael (22) from Brazil from having a good time today, though. “We’ll just roll with the tides.”

Justine (26) from Luxemburg starts her day with coffee and a shower. “I hope that todayxwill be as good as yesterday and that it will be filled with happy people once more!”
LIVE A LIFE YOU WILL REMEMBER He was an inspiration to many and lit up the hearts of people from all over the world: Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, touched a lot of people’s lives and keeps on doing so even after his death. During the tribute Silvia Bisio from Italy initiated at DreamVille yesterday, it became clear that he is being sorely missed. Hundreds of fans came together to sing, dance, and pay their respects to him and his music. Silvia: “We had the idea to plan a tribute some months ago, and wanted to share it with as many like-minded people as possible, from all over the world. I created a public Facebook event where people could be a part of this special moment at Tomorrowland, because fans from all over the world would be here.” Soon her event got bigger and bigger, and eventually Studio Brussel caught wind of it. Silvia: “They saw the initiative and decided to help us out.” Studio Brussels suggested to play an Avicii megamix at their studio and at the end, give fans a chance to grab the mic and sing to his music as well. “Originally I wanted to bring a boombox, but this more than I ever could have asked for.” For Silvia, Avicii has always been a huge inspiration, not just as an artist but also as a person. “From the very start he was one-of-a-kind, and his story touched me beyond belief.” At the tribute, it is immediately clear that Silvia is far from alone: fans wearing Avicii shirts, caps and flags soon start to gather round. Melanie from Germany is one of the girls set to sing at the end of the tribute. “It’s going to be emotional to perform for so many people. Avicii taught me to see the world from a different perspective and to open my eyes. It’s something I still cherish to this day. I hope I can spread that message.” As the megamix gets underway, emotions rise and some reach for the sky to pay their final respects. “I visited the cemetery he is buried at during my trip through Europe,” says Xavier from Canada. “No one knows the exact location of his grave. His fame is what got the best of him, so the last thing he would want is for his grave to be an attraction.” Elisabeth from Italy saw Avicii for the first time at Tomorrowland. “He’s the reason I’m into dance music and EDM. It will never be the same without him.” Overwhelmed with a bittersweet feeling of gratefulness, it is up to Silvia to end the proceedings. Tim Bergling may be gone, but his message will live on. “Music is what has united us, and it will keep uniting us forever.”

LEAF FOREVER This year the LEAF Stage is hosted by the soundsmiths of JBL, a brand that stands for creating epic moments. And let’s be honest: it doesn’t get more epic than Tomorrowland, does it? Tucked away between the Tulip stage and the Youphoria stage, the LEAF by JBL area floats happily on the pond. This is the place to make waves and dance in a highly idyllic environment. Needless to say, JBL’s craftsmanship made sure that the quality of the sound at the LEAF stage is absolutely top-notch. Surround yourself with friends, and dance, rise and fall with the beat of the music. Feel the power of the bass in your chest. Immerse yourself in the sound. Don’t just listen to the music, feel the music. If it’s good enough for JBL brand ambassadors Nicky Romero and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, then surely, it’s good enough for all of us!
Honest AT TIRE
In the right denim, you can conquer the world. And according to Tom Duhoux, owner of jeans label HNST, it can also help change the world. With their collection, HNST wants to set a new standard for the fashion world by using sustainable products only. “I am pleased to see that awareness about the impact of climate change and our own role in it is gradually increasing,” Tom says. Tomorrowland visitor Robert laughs: “I partied so hard this weekend that I completely ripped my jeans, so I came here to drop off my old pair.” Got a little something to leave behind? HNST has an option to leave your old clothes with them. “We recycle all these used clothes and then create a new collection with them,” Tom explains. The HNST recycle box can be found at the Recycle Club!
YOUR GINERATION
CHEF OF THE DAY
Fratellino means ‘little brother’ in Italian. “And that is exactly what we are portraying here,” Bieke (26) says. “We serve Italian-based foods like pastas here and very, very delicious na chos,” she laughs. Next to her is her brother, Joost (23). “We are basically the little brother of the big food stands here. Of course, our small food truck is not made to serve gigantic volumes. That’s why we focus on the quality of our products. We do the sales, and mom and dad are in the kitchen!” 7
One of the most beautiful hidden places to discover at Tomorrowland is the Brasa Chill-out Garden where you can gin up at the Fever-Tree OriGINs bar. There’s not a drink in this world as popular as gin & tonic at the moment, and Fever-Tree serves it with their various tonics and a selection of the best gins. At the OriGINs bar, you can unwind under one of the tipi tents or in the sofas while enjoying an incredible view of the LEAF stage. But the main reason to drop by this marvellous location is the infamous Tomorrowland Special cocktail. This meticulously crafted beverage consists of Fever-Tree Ginger Ale, Beefeater 24, zest of grapefruit and mint. We’ve heard someone describe it as an explosion of pleasure on your tongue, and they weren’t joking.

Many more hidden gems and secret pleasures are to be found at Planaxis if you crawl into the nooks and crannies, however. Here’s a bucketlist of exciting things you simply cannot miss during this last day on the shores of Planaxis. How many of these can you tick off?
SAY HI TO MOMMA GOOSE

You have to treat Mother Nature with respect, but that doesn’t mean you can’t say hi to momma goose and her little ones. Don’t come too close though; she’s got a bit of a temper!
WALK WITH THE PARADE Follow the Tomorrowland parade on their stroll along the many stages. This colourful and enchanting extravaganza is out to turn all your frowns upside down!
GET BLESSED BY A DANCE PRIEST “In the name of Guetta, Axwell, and the holy Ingrosso, I hereby bless you for a day of Full Madness!” Count your blessings with the priests of dance.
3 SPOT A UNICORN Modern society tends to trick you into believing that unicorns don’t exist. Let us tell you that modern society couldn’t be more wrong. You’ll be able to spot them running freely at Tomorrowland.
COMPLIMENT THE CLEANING CREW
4
A clean kitchen is a happy kitchen, and the same goes for our beloved festival. Pay your respects to these heroes cleaning up after you, as they deserve recognition for their hard work.

TOMORROWL AND TODAY
THE ARTIST’S FAVOURITES
Erick Morillo’s
best-loved tracks Erick Morillo’s early life brought him to a part of the world very few Westerners get a chance to discover. Born in New York City, Erick soon traveled to Colombia, where he was first introduced to typical Latin genres such as salsa and merengue. When Erick turned eleven and his family decided to move back to the United States, he was already DJ’ing at wedding parties. A few years later, as a teenager, Morillo befriended ‘Little’ Louie Vega, an up-and-coming producer at the time. Like Erick, Louie had a Latin background, but he also had a great feel for pop music and advised Erick to focus on vocals. Tremendous creative and commercial successes followed and the song ‘I Like to Move It’ - featured on the ‘Madagascar’ soundtrack some thirteen years after its creation - made him famous among music fans ranging from three to over fifty years old. Erick’s Daybreak Session yesterday was his first one ever at Tomorrowland. What does a seasoned DJ like this bring to the turntables for such an occasion? Read on to find out!
Favourite Erick Morillo track Reel to Real - I Like to Move It “So I made this song ‘Mueve lo Mueve’ with an MC called El General. It was pretty successful, and I wanted to do another one with him, but he was under contract with a new record label. So I started talking to this other guy, Mad Stuntman from Brooklyn, and he wanted to know what Mueve lo Mueve meant in English. The rest is history. It was an underground hit at first, and then it just became so popular that you heard it everywhere, and you still do. Then in 2005, the film ‘Madagascar’ came out and they wanted this song to be the soundtrack for it. So now all the little kids know the song by heart too. Who would’ve thought?”
Favourite house record Robert Owens - I’ll be Your Friend “I first heard this song when I started going out in New York, in a place called the Red Zone. This song was my first introduction to club culture as I know it. The bassline is totally out of this world, and Robert Owens put in that lovely message saying that whatever happened, bad times or good times, he’d be your friend. It was really powerful.” 10

Favourite Louie Vega track Masters at Work - To Be in Love “I’ll go for one he’s made with Kenny Dope as Masters at Work, with India singing over it. The three of them always managed to make sparks fly somehow. India is one of the most talented Latina singers I know, and unfortunately, the only one in house music. Live, she sounds like she does on record and she’s given me goosebumps every single time I saw her perform. I’m a massive fan.” Favourite childhood song Diana Ross - Upside Down “This one just felt so good whenever I heard it as a kid. Diana Ross, she’s one of those artists… Do we have artists like her anymore? I don’t think so, and the reason is that record companies are too scared to take risks. When Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’ came out, there hadn’t been anything like it. It changed the whole musical landscape. The industry needs to trust artists doing something different so we can all move forward.” Favourite reggae record Tenor Saw - Ring the Alarm “This one I love because of the way I can grind to it! It makes you want to move even if you don’t feel like dancing. It’s the rhythm and the bassline that do it for me. If you asked me about my favourite reggae artist, I would say Bob Marley, but this is my favourite standalone tune in the genre.” Favourite techno record DJ Rolando - Knights of the Jaguar “This is such an orchestral masterpiece. It’s not a song you could make alone, those are live strings. Something like this only happens while jamming in the studio. The song is eleven minutes long and it just keeps on building, and not just building, it also takes you back. When he breaks out all the hi-hats… It clearly is magic at play here. If it wasn’t magic, then how come he hasn’t made another song like it?”
B E LG I U M
Favourite breakup song The Cranberries - Linger “A girl broke up with me once and I cried for so many hours with this song on repeat, simply because it reminded me of her. After a breakup, you don’t want to think about how she cheated on you, it’s the good times you want to remember. You just want to linger on. Did you know it was written by Prince?”
Favourite Prince song Prince - 1999 “Prince made me think 1999 was going to be an amazing year, and when it finally happened, when 1998 became 1999, it turned out to be nothing special. Prince was just the sexiest singer on the planet, the way he moved was… He was so small, but every woman wanted to sleep with him. Maybe I would’ve kissed him. On second thought – don’t write that down!”
Favourite hip-hop record Eric B & Rakim - I Know You Got Soul “I used to be a hip-hop DJ when I was twelve years old. You know what makes a great rapper? His voice. Drake is great because he can both rap and sing. Rakim was amazing because of how he put the words together, especially when you take into account that he didn’t have many examples to draw inspiration from. So with this one, the way the lyrics flow on top of that James Brown bassline – I just can’t explain to you how good it is, really.”
Favourite shower song Marvin Gaye - Let’s Get It On “I love to sing this one under the shower, especially when I’m getting ready for a date, as I believe it will bring the date to a good end. There’s no way we’re not going to have a great dinner, haha!”

BRAIDS & BEATS Send your self(ie) Always remember that my present situation is not my final destination. Dear Shai and Orly, you won yesterday’s prize. Now it’s time to find someone likewise. It has turned out, roaming these grounds, that in my previous places I was easily found. I found a new spot, much more dear and again I’ll make it very clear, That the selfie of you and me shall be sent to today@tomorrowland.com; perhaps a winner you will be.
At the court next to the Freedom Stage, you can strengthen your inner self at the various food stands, you can have your skin permanently embellished with a Tomorrowland tattoo, and you can even get a new hairdo by none other than Sebastian hairstyling. Just drop by the stand and discuss the possibilities with your personal stylist. “We don’t actually cut hair,” the team from Sebastian explain, “we just style it. We have a couple of photos and examples here to serve as inspiration, and we focus on today’s festival trends. Flower chains and twin braids rolled up onto the head are our big shots at the moment.” And the treatment works perfectly, as freshly styled customer Hailey from Australia
explains: “It’s perfect for a festival. When I’m here, I don’t want to worry about my hair. This gave me a chance to get my hair done exactly the way I wanted it!”

WALL OF UNITY
A SPARKLING VIEW OF THE MAINSTAGE Every once in a while, you should allow yourself to take step back from the madness, give your legs a rest and tangle up your tongue in an ice cold couple of bubbles. Way up high on the hill in front of the Mainstage, Vallformosa Cava hosts its lounge bar on the second floor of the Tomorrowland Restaurant. With a unique view of those thousands of people and the formidable piece of art that is the Mainstage, visitors of the Vallformosa lounge can sit back and relax while sipping on a glass of sparkling liquid gold. No less than eight little dishes of finger food are being served by J&M Catering as well, so if a moment of reflection is what you’re after, the Vallformosa lounge is the place to be.
At the Bridge House, Lipton has installed the biggest photobooth in the world, allowing you to send in your picture from the Internet. The world is your photobooth, and all you have to do is put your picture up on Instagram - make sure your profile’s public! - and add the hashtag #LIPTONBETTERTOGETHER. After a couple of minutes, you can drop by and get your picture printed at pocket size. It will be added to the enourmos photo wall, too. College friends Joy and Jell from Belgium are now part of that collage. “We took a selfie at another part of the festival. We had better lighting there,” they giggle. “It’s cool that you’re not stuck to an actual little photo booth, especially not when there’s so much magic to see outside!”

TOMORROWL AND TODAY
YOU, ME, US,
UNITE Togetherness is one of the most profound feelings to be had in the humble life of us human beings. With music being the international language that defies every border, creed and origin, Tomorrowland has built a connection with ravers all over the world through Unite. The message is as easy as it is pure: no matter where you’re from in the world, everybody can be one of the People of Tomorrow. Yesterday, that message was put into practice. Going live from the Belgian Holy Grounds, friends from the seven Unite with Tomorrowland gatherings joined the Mainstage crowd on screen, even as millions of people followed the livestream at home. Each of the Unite locations put their own touch on the magic that is unity, but nevertheless, the initial spark of togetherness was ignited right on these very grounds.

The STORY OF PLANAXIS
TOMORROWL AND TODAY
The beauty of extraordinary experiences lies in sharing them with those you love. What a waste it would be to let this beautiful memory fade out or be erased, instead of dispersing it as words and images for others to hear and comprehend. Tomorrowland strongly believes that the experience of unity is a global thing, something that should and can be shared with those who aren’t physically present at the Holy Grounds of De Schorre. The spirit of Tomorrowland consists out of more than the People of Tomorrow who happen to be here, after all. Everyone who wants to join and everyone who cares about the bigger picture that Tomorrowland stands for is just an essential part of this journey as any other. Whether you’re in the front row at the Mainstage, wandering around exploring the secrets of the festival grounds, or somewhere on the other side of the world at home, following the madness through the livestream: we’re all in this together. Unite with Tomorrowland adds a whole new dimension to the connectedness of People of Tomorrow all around the world. It brings the festival to major venues in the wildest of locations. That unique Tomorrowland atmosphere, some of the finest local and international DJs, a live connection with the festival, and your very own energy contributing to the experience as the magical finishing touch: that’s Unite. When the clock struck quarter to ten, towards the end of Afrojack’s set, all the satellites hovering in space over Boom aligned, locked on to the signal of the Mainstage and transferred the music, the vibes and the love towards a handful of locations across the world. In total, there were just as many people at the Unite parties as there were at Tomorrowland itself: a mind-blowing 150,000 warm souls bridged together. All the lights and effects of the Unite stages across the world were connected to the ones on the Mainstage, like a shared heartbeat translated into visuals. Having been warmed up by spectacular shows with local talents as well as global chart-toppers, people cheered for unity from one end of the world to the other. Flags were waved, hearts skipped a beat and tears of joy flowed as minds and souls were filled with the feeling of harmony. People in Taiwan went crazy to the same beats that you heard, Beirut bursted out the same dance moves that you dropped in front of the Mainstage, and any cultural differences there might have been with Abu Dhabi just melted away like snow on a sunny day. Thanks to Unite, Afrojack can now boast about what was probably the largest sit-down in the world, whereas Armin took the count and brought all the peoples of Tomorrow together through a simple video stream. The most beautiful moment of the whole Unite experience, however, was when he picked up the mic and said to all of you and the seven Unite parties: “This unique connection symbolises our generation, with love for Mother Earth! People of Tomorrow, let’s unite… forever!” When he went on to drop the beat, all the people abroad felt the same thing. Leave it to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Above & Beyond to put this wonderful night to an end, and that’s exactly where the boys delivered. Love was all around - all around the world, that is!

MICHELIN STARS BY T H E M A I N S TAG E Among the many restaurants and characteristic food stands of Planaxis, there’s only one place that has come to be known as an indisputable classic: the official Tomorrowland Restaurant. In the past, the cream of the crop of the international Michelin star scene has stood behind the stove, with Wout Bru, Hans van Wolde, and Viki Geunes being just a few of the many superstars. This year, the venue is in the hands of Ken Verschueren, former chef of De Tuinkamer and a rising star in the international food scene. Besides him, an exclusive view of the Mainstage and the most delicious flavours are the main ingredients of the Tomorrowland Restaurant. Bon appÊtit!

You’ll find the Tomorrowland restaurant on top of the hill right in front of the Mainstage, looking out over all those people dancing. Its visitors keep a keen eye on the DJ and the pleasant chaos of fountains, lights, and other visual stumuli. Even though it’s still quite early, the Tomorrowland Restaurant is buzzing with diligence. All tables are fully booked - the venue sold out for both weekends in less than 24 hours - and the waiters have their hands full serving hungry patrons. In the kitchen, the intense atmosphere can only be described as an intense mix of passion, work ethic, and absolute delight in being able to be here right now. If there’s any stress it’s of the healthy kind, the sort you crave for when you take pride in what you do. Even though he has his hands full, chef Ken Verschueren takes a minute to elaborate on the experience and the tastes he wants to share with the visitors of his restaurant. “I hope I don’t fall asleep while I sit here,” Ken jokes, “I haven’t had a lot of time to rest my feet for the last few weeks. But I’m absolutely not complaining, because everything is flat-out fantastic – during this weekend as much as a week ago. After the very first dish I did come to the conclusion that I had underestimated things a little, though. The premise was to have seven shifts a day, one hour and fifteen minutes each, and little breaks of ten to twenty minutes in between. In reality, the rounds started to flow into one another. But it’s still a unique experience, without any doubt.” Sold out across both weekends, the restaurant is a great success once again. “With seven times 110 couverts a day, you can start calculating how many people we’ll have served by Sunday night,” chef Ken says. “There’s only six of us in the kitchen, so our engines are running at full speed all day long. But I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. We’re here to work, it’s our duty to serve the perfect meal to all these people coming over. Don’t get me wrong: I would love to see Sven Väth, Adam Beyer or Jamie Jones play, as I’m more of a techno and house fan than a Mainstage lover. Normally, you could always find me at the Core stage or the Arch. I have

actually never missed a single edition of Tomorrowland, but this year is the first time that I’m here to work.” That dedicated and sincere work ethic is exactly why chef Ken was chosen to host the Tomorrowland Restaurant this year. He’s a very persistent presence in the kitchen; not a single dish goes over the counter without him delivering the final touch. “I’m a very hands-on kind of guy. I want to stir the pots myself, I want to motivate my team and give them a good example of what it takes to give your best.” As his restaurant De Tuinkamer closed its doors last Christmas and his new place in Mechelen won’t be opened until later this year, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Even though he earned a Michelin star for his past work, chef Verschueren doesn’t like to brag: “The only message I really want to get across is that we are really cooking here. We’re not taking preprepped dishes out of the fridge, finishing them off with a little gel and serving them. On the contrary: the guinea fowl is fried right here, the sauce is made on the spot and the ingredients are all brought together just the way I would do it in my own restaurant. You can sense that people are truly enjoying that as well.” As his parents had a market garden full of vegetables, and he himself went to horticultural school for a year, Ken is keen on working with local products. “I know that it’s a bit of a hype at the moment,” he says, “but I’ve been doing it from the very beginning. It doesn’t make any sense to source your ingredients thousands of miles away if you can find perfectly good stuff on your doorstep. We should be proud of the products that we have here, whether it be meat, fish or vegetables. It goes without saying that sometimes there is no other way. You can’t work with local mangos if there aren’t any mangos growing locally. I will focus even more on local products in my new restaurant, specifically local products coming from the area surrounding Mechelen.” Ken is bolstered by a proper education: after horticultural school, he went to the infamous cooking school Ter Duine in Koksijde and started working at top-class restaurant Folliez in Mechelen, where he stayed for eight years.
“At that point, most cooks would go off starting a restaurant on their own, but I went on to be the sous chef of Sergio Herman at Oud Sluis,” he explains. With the typical stereotype of the ever-yelling chef crafted by Gordon Ramsey in mind, Ken takes a different approach to swinging the scepter in the kitchen. Sergio did teach him to be a bit more strict on his staff, though: “Being slammed and yelled at by chefs has been a part of my own education, but it’s simply not my style. Those were the old days. Sergio pushed me to rule the staff with a bit more of an iron hand. Sometimes I drove home at night with tears in my eyes, fearing that I had been too severe, but then the day after, everything would appear to run smoother than ever. In the end, it’s all about keeping your staff happy and motivated. I’ve always been able to keep my staff aboard – at least until they went on to work abroad or started a restaurant of their own. Some of them have even earned a Michelin star themselves. That’s a huge compliment to me. I’ll be their first and best client!” Verschueren is a happy chef beyond a shadow of a doubt. “But I’ll be even happier on Sunday evening, when all the people have been served and I can shut the door of the kitchen behind me. You’ll find me at the afterparty, that much is for sure. Work hard, play hard. Sometimes the steam we build up in the kitchen needs to be let off, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do, haha!”

CAMPING GAS DISPOSAL
Love Tomorrow wants to thank you for your recycling efforts so far. The People of Tomorrow are environmentally aware and enthusiastic; a very encouraging combination. You have made great use of the Recycle Kits, and have made DreamVille even more beautiful. As you dive into the final day of your journey, this is a reminder to keep separating your waste. Don’t simply throw your rubbish in the first bin you see. Have a look at the sorting signs and make sure to put your stuff in the right one. Every single one of you can make a positive contribution and keep Mother Nature happy. Let’s continue on the right path and make a difference.
Reminder to those of you who have been cooking: bring your camping gas cans to your District House! Staff there will have the correct bins for them. Do not dispose of them in general waste! This can cause explosions at the waste processing site.

As you continue on to the last day of your magnificent journey, we hope you have enjoyed your sacred space at DreamVille for relaxation and for moments to re-energize. When you leave, please leave a positive trace – pack your camping gear, together with all the memories and the friendships you have gained. Take it with you to wherever your journey goes next. However, if circumstances don’t allow you to take your camping gear along, please drop off your stuff at the CAMP2CAMP Big Bags at your District House. This way, your gear will get a second life, and can be rented out at Tomorrowland next year. Besides, the site is kept as magnificent as it was when you arrived!
You must have noticed them around, but what is the overall concept of the Recycle Club? As you are (sadly…) breaking up your encampments tomorrow, it is important to know that the Recycle Club is here to help, by means of their Teams and the Clubhouse. By now you must have seen the Recycle Teams; an enthusiastic flock of ambassadors dressed in green. They represent the Recycle Club and communicate the sorting message to the People of Tomorrow. Have you noticed their shoulder bags? They are made out of old Tomorrowland banners from former Dreamville trash points! How cool is that? The teams are coordinated from the Recycle Clubhouse, located right next to the Marketplace. Its hosts have collected lots of correctly sorted PMD bags and cups from all of you! What’s more, the People of Tomorrow have been very positive about the 3D furniture made from PMD waste and recycled cups. Happy campers relaxed at 3D-printed tables and benches, and flew high on the 3D-printed swings. If you haven’t checked out the Clubhouse yet, make sure to do so before your Journey continues to other places!
ECO -F R I E N D LY CO N F E T T I Did you know all confetti used at Tomorrowland is biodegradable? Due to this summer’s high temperatures, the remains are staying intact for a bit longer than usual, but eventually, all confetti and streamers will dissolve without leaving any trace. That way, the Holy Grounds are kept clean for many years to come! 21

TOMORROWL AND TODAY
TREASURY OF MEMORIES Tomorrowland is a wild ride of new experiences, people, sounds, and magic. It’s all too easy to forget the details – but there also happens to be a way of storing them. Planaxis has its very own Guestbook, a shared diary of all its visitors; and this magical book carries on your legacy, transforming words into recollections that will last forever. Many of those who write in its pages express their gratitude towards the underwater capital and its inhabitants, or enlighten the book with their best memories. Some stories are unforgettable, remaining vivid and heart-warming to the mind’s eye; others are just plain crazy, as good times and goofy friends make for the silliest moments. The This friendly neighbourhood superhero took a little time off the job to write in the Guestbook. “It’s actually my birthday today, but that won’t keep me from protecting the city of Planaxis,” he writes. All of a sudden, he gets up again: “Thank you guys, but I really have to get back to work now.” After that, he’s gone. You’re the best, Spidey!
passages below are wise words full of gratitude – heed them well and write down your own stories, too. That way, they may be kept forever. 22

“We travelled all the way from Japan,” Saori (22) and Nodoka (23) say. “It was a long trip, but definitely worth the while,” they add as they finish their entry in the book: “It just feels like a massive, magical playground here!”
Caroline, Claudia, Catherine and Yvonne (all 31) from Spain share their best moments. “It’s four girls on a weekend trip, what did you expect?” they laugh. They only use one word in the book: “Madness!”
Belgian beauty Céline (25) doesn’t think twice before she writes down her memories. “I honestly lost all my friends like five times this weekend. When the other visitors see you alone here, they make you feel welcome and not so alone anymore. I wish, from now on, that things will be like that everywhere I go!”
“We would like to thank Planaxis for having us!” Quentin (36), Domien (31) and Bobby (30) from Belgium laugh. “If I told you we had fun, that would be the biggest understatement of all times,” Domien writes.
Damian (25) and Dylan (23) from France entrust the book with the following: “We dream that the People will forever form a unity, even when they leave Tomorrowland. They’ll be celebrating the joy, the music and the love, just as they did here.”
Virginie (20) and Morgan (19) from Sweden have a little something to share. They giggle, as Virginie starts writing: “We usually say that Sweden is the best place on Earth to live, but we kind of changed our minds. Is it possible to live here?”

Tattoos have a power and magic all of their own. They decorate the body, but they also beatify the soul. People feel the same way about visiting Tomorrowland, so why not go for an everlasting accessory of those two things combined? Cassandra from Alaska agrees. “I’m getting a Tomorrowland tattoo, because it has always been my dream to travel here. I celebrated my thirtieth birthday yesterday and the tattoo was actually my birthday wish,” she says. “Unfortunately, the Shop was overbooked yesterday, but they had a spot open today. It gave me an extra night to think about it,” she giggles. Tomorrowland is home to the Official Tattoo Shop for the third time this year. To make a reservation, you will need to present yourself physically at the Official Tattoo Booth. Six professional tattoo artists, obviously carefully selected, will welcome you. They have created unique designs with the official Tomorrowland logo, which can be inked onto your skin… forever!
The Human M a i n s tag e
Benjamin and his friends were ecstatic to hear that they managed to get tickets for Tomorrowland for the second year in a row. And once again, they are enjoying every single moment they have here in Planaxis. “Some say you can never go back to the city built for dreamers, but I know we can find it on our own,” he says. And find it on their own they sure did. Your human tower comes very close to looking like this year’s Mainstage - keep up the good work, guys!
THE MUSIC NEVER STOPS For those of you that wish to stay on point music-wise 24/7, from the last beat resounding from the Mainstage to the very first bassdrum at the next Daybreak Session – this is your jam. Open your Spotify app, search for Tomorrowland, and you’ll find yourself a whole set of exquisite playlists of various genres and styles to break the silence. Beat up your campsite with some stage-host playlist by the likes of Abracadabra, ANTS, and Monstercat, and dive into the tracks that the artists playing here want you to hear. There are no less than 13 playlist ready and waiting for you to play as loud as you possibly can.

CORE
What was once just a small house on Ibiza soon transformed into one of the most iconic restaurants on San Antonio’s famous sunset strip. More than a place that serves delicious food to the backdrop of one of the world’s most mesmerising sunsets, Café Mambo is also a place to enjoy music from globally renowned DJs. Throughout the week, the DJ booth is taken over by the infamous Pacha club for their pre-parties. At Tomorrowland, Mambo pushes the temperature even further into the red with a line-up including Sven Van Hees, Franky Rizardo and the Mambo Brothers - all flown straight from from the White Isle to the isle of LEAF!
Since its inception in 2010, Smash the House has rapidly forged a reputation as one of the major players in recent dance music history. Now moving into its 8th year and continuing to dish out independent and cleverly crafted carnage, the Smash the House imprint has gained popularity for consistently delivering top quality dance floor bangers, with label bosses Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike at the helm. This is reflected in its success rate in the charts as well as its increasing notoriety as a dance concept roving many festivals worldwide. Smash the House is set to continue its display of form at this year’s edition with MATTN, Nicky Romero, Bassjackers, and many more.
Deep in the woods, The Magician presents a line-up that will make you sweat so hard that your feet will be swimming in your shoes. Potion started out as his own record label, but grew out to become the ultimate event for those craving a relentless mix of the hottest house, the fiercest funk and the dirtiest disco tracks. Next to The Magician himself, you’ll be served a magic elixir of deep house frontrunners like Claptone, BBC Radio 1 DJ and Ibiza legend Pete Tong, world famous actor slash superstar Idris Elba, and even the masked marauder of tech house, Claptone. And make no mistake – this tonic will have your body moving uncontrollably!

IBIZA BROTHERS
DIMITRIG AVEGAS & LIKE MIKE’S RDEN OF MADNESS Without any doubt, they’re Tomorrowland’s biggest sweethearts, and they’re Belgium’s biggest DJs by far. They’re just as big on the White Island of Ibiza, though. Bringing the block-rocking beats to Ushuïa with their very own Garden of Madness event every Tuesday are none other than brothers in arms, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The boys have come a long way since moving to the island in 2003 and playing their first set at Tomorrowland in 2009. In between taxiing from the island of dreams to Tomorrowland, they took a moment to share their thoughts.
For the People of Tomorrow who have never been there, what kind of place is Ushuïa? Mike: “Ushuïa is a venue that possesses an incredibly unique vibe. The experience Ushuïa offers is high-end, but with a very forward-thinking attitude towards the modern era of clubbing.” Dimitri: “Just take a simple look at the day-to-day line-ups and you’ll get a sense of the level of fun they have to offer. It retains the spirit of Ibiza but gives it a new twist. It’s a great openair venue where there’s airplanes flying overhead as you’re looking at one of the best stage setups in the world - it’s fair to say it’s pretty much the best venue on the island.”
Until the end of the season you guys will be raising heaven and hell over Ibiza every Tuesday with your Garden of Madness nights. One can only imagine how mad those nights are. Could you paint that picture for us please? Mike: “Oh man, it goes off big time! We’ve played at many parties in Ibiza over the years, but last year undoubtedly marked one of our best summers on the island. The Garden of Madness concept we are doing together with Tomorrowland has become a unique show that is unlike anything else - even in Ibiza! Dimitri: “Our advice is to just come to one of the shows and soak up the atmosphere, because it really is something very special! The energy in the crowd is insane, and the venue makes the feel of the concept work really well. The marvelous production from the team behind Tomorrowland is a great help, too.”
When you’re not working or playing, what are you up to? Do you still party like there’s no tomorrow? Mike: “We are massive music fans. It’s great to go out and check out other DJs when they’re playing from time to time. When we have the chance and when we’re not on the road, we will go out and party.” Dimitri: “We also take our time to relax and chill out. We have to recharge from the madness of our shows. It’s good to unwind and kick back with family and friends. I just love to take my boat out and go for a cruise at sea.” How does your family feel about these crazy lives you live? Do you ever get asked if you’ll ever grow up? Dimitri: “They absolutely love it! Music keeps all of us young at heart, so I’m sure they’re not worrying about that. Even our grandparents still come to a lot of shows.”
Who will be your guests this summer, joining in on the Madness in Ibiza? Mike: “We’ve got a big bunch of close friends coming over to party with us this summer! Everyone from Diplo, Steve Aoki, Steve Angello, and W&W to our little brother Lost Frequencies. Dimitri: “There will also be a series of unannounced ultra-special surprise guests, so come over and check it out for yourself.”
Your grandparents were part of the audience when you played here in 2013. What was it like for them to be part of the Madness? Do they join you in Ibiza? Mike: “They love the whole vibe. It’s pretty crazy for them to be a part of this madness and get to share the moment. And for us it’s pretty exciting as well, since we get to share all of this with them.” Dimitri: “Yeah, we do have our family over and join us in Ibiza over the season. It’s a beautiful island that everyone should come and experience.”
Do you consider the artists that are coming over to be your friends? Will you battle each other B2B during the parties? Dimitri: “We put together a line-up of close friends and artists whom we respect and whose music we love.” Mike: “Our main goal is to give the fans what they want - with a little extra - so our choices are rooted in music, before anything else. We’ll definitely do some special B2B’s across the summer, but we’re keeping those occasions a surprise for now.”
How do people get in on the Garden of Madness events? Do all tickets go through presale or will you also have tickets at the door? Mike: “We definitely recommend you buy your tickets online in advance! The shows sell out and I promise you it will be an experience you don’t want to miss. Trust me: it’ll be wild!” Dimitri: “It’s growing each week, so come and join us!” 27

COONE FOCUS ON GLORIOUS SUNDAY COONE AND THE GANG | 18h00 - 19h00 A Belgian native and relentless advocate of hardstyle music, Coone has been a main-stay of Tomorrowland’s hard dance programming for years. Now, at Planaxis, his biggest dream is finally coming true: he got to play a Mainstage set during Weekend 1, besides his Coone & the Gang stage hosting in Weekend 2. Here are his thoughts on these two weekends of high-BPM, heavy-hitting madness. It’s finally happening: hardstyle, and hardstyle by Coone no less, at Tomorrowland’s Mainstage. Bringing hardstyle to the masses has always been your goal, and now you’re finally there. What went through your head when you heard that you got the gig? “I honestly couldn’t believe what I heard. I remember my first reaction was quite lame, be-cause I was so overwhelmed! And then moments later I realized what was actually happen-ing. It was quite emotional, to be honest.” Leading up to Tomorrowland, you’ve been releasing a documentary series called ‘Trip to Tomorrow’. What is it like being followed around by a camera crew all the time? How do you decide what ends up in the series? “Minutes after I heard the news of playing at the Mainstage, we came up with this idea. Eve-ryone liked the idea, but of course we were aware about the amount of work that would come with it. I really don’t mind being followed by the camera crew all the time. Especially because I know the guys really well, so I never feel awkward or anything. The only challenge was to shoot so much relevant content in such a short period of time. I’m really happy with the episodes so far, and the feedback from the fans is better than what I could have hoped for.”
A true family man, you once named a track after your daughter Faye and in Trip to Tomorrow, we witness you taking her to her first day at school. How do you bal-ance touring life and family? Do you sometimes take them with you? “We try to plan the shows and tours as efficiently as possible. This way, we create the right balance between my family and my life as a DJ. I rarely take them with me on tour, because it’s pretty hectic. I’d rather fly home directly after my shows to spend quality time with them there instead.” About the shows, though – for those that don’t know, what is hardstyle music like, and why should they take the time to check out your set and your hosting? “Hardstyle is something different in many ways. It’s not just faster or harder than the average EDM we all know. Hardstyle is an experience. The best way to be introduced to this music is through witnessing a live performance. This way you see how the crowd reacts to it. The combination of uplifting melodies and a powerful bass is just the best of both worlds, I guess! There is only one thing I can say for sure about this genre: once you’ve got a taste of it, you’ll be wanting more.”
“Once you’ve got a taste of it, you’ll be wanting more”

You’ve done some house-oriented collabs in the past. Do you feel that hardstyle should remain a genre of its own, or will we be hearing more crossover sounds from you? “Hardstyle will remain a genre of its own, a home base for the core elements of the sound. But this doesn’t mean we should avoid collabs with artists from different genres. I believe this will only give hardstyle a bigger and broader platform. Working together with names from oth-er genres allows us to introduce our sound to new listeners. Right now I have a new track together with Ummet Ozcan, for example. This track is full-on hardstyle, so working together with names like Ummet doesn’t necessarily mean we step away from our sound. As a matter of fact, most ‘outside’ names are reaching out to hardstyle producers because they see what this music can do when played live.” And a lot of it will be played at the Coone and the Gang stage. How does the line-up for a thing like that come together? What role do you play in the organization of it all? “Hosting my own stage at Tomorrowland was also something I never could have dreamt of. Last year we did the first edition of Coone and the Gang and it was such a success. I’m still very grateful for the opportunity that Tomorrowland gave me. This year the Gang returns! The hosting will be held at the amazing Freedom stage. Everyone is very excited about it. Together with management we came up with the line-up for this day. Tomorrowland instantly approved the line-up, so we couldn’t be happier. This year we specifically selected acts with an international fanbase and a signature sound. This reates a more interesting dynamic throughout the day. All artists, myself included, are very excited!”

Dominik Eulberg Floorfiller (Cubanisto House of Masks) | 19h00 - 20h30 Dominik Eulberg has two lifelong passions: music and nature. Over the course of more than ten accomplished years, he has managed to reconcile both by producing an ever-evolving but always organic and melodic brand of electronic music. Of course, Dominik is also a well-travelled DJ who is always observing the natural world on his travels. Much like a wide-open landscape is always changing with the seasons, his sounds never remain the same for long. Now a veteran of more than ten years in the game, Dominik is still as fresh and compelling as he ever was, much like the natural world with which he so passionately surrounds himself.

Jennifer Cardini
Mosaic (Youphoria) | 19h00 - 20h45 Française Jennifer Cardini has been working the European electronic dance music circuit for more than 15 years to date. Influenced by the early Detroit, Chicago and Cologne sound, she started to play house music in the late nineties at clubs in France. Time and experience then allowed her style to develop into the more experimental techno sets she’s known for today. After her move to Paris in 1998, Cardini ultimately became one of the first of a generation of French DJs to play the stripped-down Berlin sound that would settle into a distinctive movement in electronic music – she was doing ‘minimal’ before the genre even had a name. In addition to her DJ work, Cardini’s productions have landed consistently on target, right from her debut acid house 12-inch on the Pumpking Records label in 1996, all the way through to her latest EP on Crosstown Rebels. These carefully crafted tracks have been slowly released over the years, but they have always ended up on techno powerhouse labels like Mobilee and Kill the DJ. Most recently, Cardini has been spending more time continuing her production efforts and has started her own label, Correspondant. At Tomorrowland, however, she will once again give the decks a run for their money.

Dutch progressive house DJ Nicky Romero is hardly a stranger to the People of Tomorrow. Having worked with great artists such as Tiësto, Fedde le Grand, Afrojack and Avicii, and continuing to tour the world, his reputation is nothing but stellar. One of his latest remixes is 'So Far Away' by Martin Garrix and David Guetta. Striving to bring progressive back, Nicky Romero is bound to make the Mainstage explode. His latest release, a collaboration with American songstress ROZES, reminds him of when he just got started with his career. Catch the chance to see him take a trip down memory lane!
German-based producer Levent Faki is here to spice up your Sunday with that Berlin sound! His breakthrough tracks 'My Black Sheep' and 'Mekong Delta' put Faki on the map in 2007. By then, he had already been Berghain's in-house DJ for 3 years – even though he only moved to Berlin in 2003! In 2017, he released a massive remix of Radio Slave's song 'Grindhouse'. The Turkishborn techno DJ founded a number of record labels over the years, dedicated to releasing a wide range of techno music that upholds his love for the genre as well as his standard of creativity, balance, and funkiness.

Dutch DJ duo Deepend prides itself in thinking outside the box. Determined to keep their audiences moving, they combine grooves, pop, and melodic elements with a firm base of house music. They have previously released tracks with artists like Graham Candy and Sam Feldt and made remixes of songs by Matt Simons and James Blunt. Supported by major names including Bakermat and Robin Schulz, they signed two singles onto Armada Music, Armin van Buuren's label, in 2014, and grew consistently from there. All in all, the sunny sounds these boys produce deserve a warm welcome to the underwater realm of Planaxis.
Major Lazer calls this guy the 'Sinatra of the scene' and he may very well be as versatile as the late king of jazzpop. Rakka is not only a mashup DJ – his life is a mashup, too. Born in Belgium, the energetic producer grew up in Spain even though he is from Russian descent. Rakka went to study philosophy and saw his perception of the world as well as of music change. He polished his DJ techniques until they shone so bright the Spanish sun couldn't handle it no more, and ended up choosing Belgium as his home again. Expect a wild show with lots of jumping and running around behind his decks: Rakka is here to give you the DJ circus experience of a lifetime.

Stephan Bodzin He has been a hugely influential figure within the global techno scene for years, there is absolutely no doubt about that. And the reason German-born Stephan Bodzin has endured where many have fallen by the wayside is because of his devotion to authenticity. “Without that, everything would appear to be just boring and plain,” he explains. After starting out by composing music for several prestigious European theaters, Stephan Bodzin soon fell in love with nocturnal club sounds and began producing his own brand of techno. He made a firm impression from the get-go and has gone on to work with other legends like Marc Romboy and Oliver Huntemann - with whom he collaborated under a myriad of aliases including the infamous Rekorder. The fruits of these labours have defined the modern techno scene until today. “Throughout my releases and my collaborations, I managed to let my ideas flow freely and to develop my own style,” he says. His music focuses on melody and rhythm, on deep bass and vivid sound design, and is always a truly captivating journey through mind, body and soul. The live set he is bringing to Tomorrowland – including his homemade controller – will be another chapter in what has been an exhilarating and deeply dedicated career. Tag along at Mosaic (Youphoria) at 22:45!
No kind of music could describe his style, so he decided to create his own genre. Boris Brejcha is his name and high-tech minimal is his game. Born in 1981, Boris Brejcha started his musical education in his childhood. He was educated playing drums and keyboard, and then followed through producing and performing electronic dance music. Boris’ productions are characterized by a maximum of variety. Each song is an adventure on its own, and his next move is always unpredictable: elements of electro, breakbeats, and IDM combine with minimal even as Brejcha flirts with ambient on the side.

With a name like, that you’d better live up to the assumptions it implies. And we have to hand it to him: few people are more synonymous with dancing to deep house and tech house than Matthias Tanzmann. Like many colleagues of his generation, Tanzmann grew up immersed in electronic music, entering into adolescence right as the Berlin Wall came down. He witnessed and participated in the boom of the rave scene in Germany and helped shape the underground parties. At Tomorrowland, he’ll do what he does best: bringing the most danceable bits out and highlighting them in a drumheavy tech-house mix.
