Welcome to the 2021-22 SOUDERTON BOYS BASKETBALL season!

It is great to be back in the gym and with spectators this year! We are thrilled to welcome our new head coach, Okoteh Sackitey. Since July, he has tirelessly been preparing the players to perform to the best of their potential. We are all hopeful for an optimal season. A strong group of Senior players and experienced Junior players will lead the team this year.

Our goal is to build and strengthen our basketball athletic program.

We understand the importance of hard work, cooperation and enthusiasm to excel!

COACHING STAFF OKOTEH SACKITEY—VARSITY HEAD COACH Okoteh Sackitey is entering his first season as head coach at Souderton High School. Sackitey graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. While attending IUP, Sackitey assisted with the IUP women’s basketball team for two seasons. Those IUP teams appeared in the NCAA tournament both years and were ranked as high as NO. 12 in the nation.

CARSON GRANT Carson, Since you were 4 years old, basketball has been a part of your life, and we have enjoyed every minute of watching you play. This game has helped mold you into the wonderful young man you are today. Best of luck in your senior season.

Since graduation, Coach O has taught in Phoenixville and in Aynor, South Carolina, where he gained three years of head coaching experience. In 2018, he joined the men’s basketball staff at West Chester University as a graduate assistant coach where he helped the team reach a ranking of NO. 21 in the nation en route to the NCAA tournament. Since leaving West Chester, Coach O has been a varsity assistant at Rustin and Downingtown West. He helped the Golden Knights win the Ches-Mont American division en route to a district playoff final 4 appearance, and he helped the Whippets to a 10-3 record en route to district playoffs.

Coach O also works full time at SAHS as a social studies teacher.

He is entering year 6 in the classroom-year 1 at Souderton. He loves making a positive impact on the lives of everyone with whom he has the privilege of working.

CHASE SCHEUREN Chase, Best of luck in your Senior season and continued success in the classroom and on the court in college.

MICHAEL L. RUIVIVAR—VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH Michael L. Ruivivar is in his first season as an assistant varsity coach at Souderton. Michael is a 1987 Bishop McDevitt High School graduate. Upon graduation, Michael became a coach, and he has had the honor of coaching 3 sets of fathers and sons.

He has held coaching positions at Bishop McDevitt, Abington and Hatboro-Horsham High Schools.

Michael has been a School Security Instructor for Echelon Protection and Surveillance for 10 years and has 5 years as Site Security Supervisor at Lincoln Financial Field. He is currently pursuing his Teachers Certification at Chestnut Hill College and is working at Hatboro- Horsham High School as a substitute teacher. Michael is excited to start a new chapter in his basketball coaching career here at Souderton. He is eagerly anticipating meeting everyone in the community!

COACHING STAFF CARTER KNIGHT—JUNIOR VARSITY HEAD COACH Carter Knight is in his 4th year coaching basketball at SAHS. In 2018, he led the freshman team and will continue to lead the JV team for the 3rd year since 2019. Coach Knight grew up in Harleysville and played for 4 years at SAHS, where he was a member of the league championship team in 2013 and was awarded First Team All-League honors in 2014.

Coach Knight studied marketing at Penn Sate University, where he was an active participant in the PSU Club Basketball program and held several leadership roles in the club throughout his 4 years in college. He now works full-time in the marketing department at Toll Brothers in Fort Washington.

Coach Knight is extremely passionate about teaching young men about life skills, as well as teaching the game of basketball.

When he isn’t in the gym or working, he loves spending time with his wife, family and friends.

Coach Micah Plank is from Souderton, Pa, and has coached basketball at Souderton at the freshman level and now at the Junior Varsity level. He played basketball and baseball at SAHS and was an All-League performer in baseball in 2014.

Coach Plank is pursuing a degree in Health Sciences at West Chester University. Outside of basketball, he loves spending time with family, friends and doing CrossFit.

AZARIAH PARMER—FRESHMAN COACH Azariah Parmer is in his 3rd season as head coach for the boys’ Freshman team. Azariah grew up in Harleysville, Pa, where he attended school and played basketball at Dock Mennonite Academy. At DMA, he played basketball for 4 years. Senior year, he was team captain and earned All-League honors.

He continued his academic and basketball career at Cairn University, where he played basketball for 3 years. In 4.5 years, he earned his Masters in Business Administration.

Azariah works full-time at Citizens & Northern Bank as a Commercial Credit Analyst. Azariah generously shares his knowledge and love of the game to develop the skills and success of our freshman team.
