Quality Guitars for Everyone
Riento® Guitars have a superb quality-price ratio for every player from beginners to advanced guitarists. Each guitar is checked and tuned by hand which makes the quality of the guitars extremely even. Riento® is highly recommended to be the first classical guitar for everyone – even the most affordable model includes a solid top and has a beautiful sound. For intermediate and advanced players seeking more options, we offer models featuring all-solid wood bodies as well as electroacoustic models.
Lens Resonance System® and the history of Riento® Guitars
Brothers Kauko and Keijo Liikanen are highly esteemed luthiers in Finland. They began crafting their first classical guitars in 1977 and transitioned to making it their full-time profession in 1986.
Lens Resonance System® provides a colourful and bright tone with unforced and delicate nuances. When the strings are plucked even with small effort, it produces a strong sound with a long sustain. Every player now has a rich tone palette in their hands to help the music become alive through the guitar.
"We started manufacturing classical guitars abroad in 2004. The idea was to produce quality classical guitars with LRS top also for beginners and advanced players with a lower price range. To separate these guitars from our handmade guitars, these were called Kantare Guitars. Each model was equipped with the Lens Resonance System®. It also made the junior models produce a beautiful and louder sound with less effort. Quality control was always managed by us", says luthier Kauko Liikanen.
Made in Europe
Kauko Liikanen and Uwe Florath started developing Lens Resonance System® (LRS) in the 1990s. After numerous prototypes, the final result was a top featuring thinner, more flexible edges, while the center remained stiffer. This design's key advantage lies in achieving even sound across the fretboard, ensuring an even tone for every note. LRS was patented in the year 2000 and has since been a hallmark of hand-made Liikanen guitars.
In 2022, a new phase began: Keijo and Kauko Liikanen retired and Tomi Tolvanen, Musiikkitoteemi Oy continued the lifework of Liikanen brothers, manufacturing the guitars in Europe and developing the concept further on under the brand Riento® Guitars.
Lens Resonance System® is currently used exclusively in Riento® guitars. They both are registered trademarks in EU.
