HOW 4C HEALTH EXPANDS CARE & REMOVES BARRIERS ACROSS INDIANA
Writer / Natalie Platt
Lisa Willis-Gidley serves as the chief revenue officer for 4C Health. She has spent 18 years in the mental health and human services field, starting as a case manager working directly with adults in the community and gradually moving into management and operations as the organization grew.
“I started providing direct care, then moved into navigation services, and eventually managing departments as 4C expanded from four counties to more,” she says. “Now my focus is really on
access for clients, business development, marketing and building loyalty in the community.”
4C Health has been serving communities for 50 years.
The organization expanded into Howard County in 2015 and later moved into Tipton and White counties. Their services now span the entire lifespan, starting as early as Early Head Start, and include support for both youth and their parents or guardians.
One of the organization’s innovative offerings is hybrid behavioral therapy. Historically, clients had to visit a clinic in person for therapy or medication management. That model presented barriers for many families, from transportation challenges to missing school or work.
“With hybrid care, clients can receive telehealth services from home or come to a clinic and meet virtually with a clinician located
elsewhere,” Willis-Gidley says. “It opens up access so people can be seen more quickly.”
4C Health also partners closely with local school corporations. Skills trainers and, in some cases, master’s-level therapists are on site to support students directly. The organization offers infield intakes, allowing assessments to happen at the school without parents needing to transport their child to the clinic.
Willis-Gidley says this approach minimizes disruption to the school day and speeds access to care.
The organization also emphasizes crisis services. Mobile crisis teams respond alongside law enforcement when someone is experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, with the goal of stabilizing individuals within the community. A full crisis continuum is available, including a mental health receiving and stabilization facility in Miami County, and 4C Health is connected to the 988 crisis line for 24/7 support.
“We’ve created a system where someone can come in and get a same-day initial assessment,” she says. “That immediate access is what sets us apart.”
Community awareness and outreach are also a priority. 4C Health works to reduce stigma around mental health and substance use. Peer recovery specialists engage directly with individuals in the community, providing guidance and support for those who are not yet ready for treatment. Willis-Gidley says spreading awareness and creating comfort around seeking help is key.
For Willis-Gidley, the work is personal. She began her career in the medical field and has seen firsthand how barriers prevent people from getting the care they need.
“What keeps me going is identifying underserved populations and working hard to meet their needs,” she says. “We focus on decreasing those barriers and making care accessible to everyone who needs it.”
4C Health encourages the public to stay informed through its website and social media platforms, and community support can come from sharing information as much as direct involvement. Photos of the Kokomo clinic and staff are available for those interested in learning more about the organization and its impact. The most rewarding part of Willis-Gidley’s work is seeing how accessible care and early support can make a difference.
“Every step we take to help someone get care quickly, to stabilize them, or to guide them toward recovery matters,” she says.

SUN CITY TANNING & WELLNESS CONTINUES GROWING WITH EXPANDED SERVICES & PERSONAL TOUCH
Writer / Natalie Platt
Khristy Baugher has spent her life in Kokomo, and she knows the town and its people well. A lifelong resident of Howard County, she’s built a career as a successful realtor while also running a thriving local business.
“My goal is to make every client a client for life,” Khristy says, whether she’s helping someone buy a home or welcoming them into her salon.
Her approach is built on dedication and communication, which she says allows her to truly understand the needs of the people she works with.
For more than 20 years, Khristy has balanced real estate with another passion —
Sun City Tanning and Wellness. The salon first opened in 2004, and Khristy began managing it in 2006. She quickly became the driving force behind its operations.
When a tornado destroyed the original building in 2013, the salon relocated to its current spot on South Washington Street, reopening in early 2014 with Khristy becoming co-owner. In 2022, she took over full ownership, continuing her commitment to providing Kokomo residents with a welcoming, personal experience.
“We’ve been open for 21 years,” Khristy says. “We’re proud to be locally owned and operated.”
Her focus has always been on creating a
space that feels like family.
“We’ve always stood out as a very clean and friendly salon,” Khristy says. “We get to know our customers, and many of them have been tanning with us since we first opened.”
Regulars stop by not just for the services but for the warmth of familiar faces and easy conversation. Khristy considers this personal attention central to the salon’s philosophy — her clients are more than just clients; they’re friends and family.
Two years ago, Khristy and her husband, Aaron expanded the salon’s offerings to include spa and wellness services such as red light therapy, infrared sauna pods,
and teeth whitening. Along with the new services came a refresh of the space — fresh paint, updated lighting, and softer décor — designed to create a calm, welcoming environment.
“We wanted to create something that feels like home,” Khristy says.
Maintaining a clean, inviting atmosphere is a priority, and the staff are trained to provide friendly, personalized service. Khristy wants every client to feel comfortable from the moment they walk in.
“We want everyone to feel welcome, relaxed and valued,” she says, adding that the salon’s atmosphere reflects the care she brings to all her work.
The salon’s offerings continue to grow and adapt with customer needs. From traditional UV tanning to sunless options, red light therapy, and infrared sauna pods, Sun City Tanning and Wellness aims to provide both relaxation and results. Khristy notes that these wellness services are designed to support both skin health and overall well-being. Beyond tanning, the salon emphasizes a friendly, personalized experience, which Khristy believes is rare in larger, impersonal chain locations.
Sun City Tanning and Wellness has grown and adapted over the years while keeping its personal touch. It’s a place where community and care meet professional service, and where long-time clients feel like part of the family. Khristy continues to focus
on making every visit meaningful, whether a client is stepping in for a quick tan or a full wellness session.
For those looking to experience the salon firsthand, Sun City Tanning and Wellness is located at 2939 S. Washington St. in Kokomo. You can reach them at 765453-3333 or follow along on Facebook and TikTok for updates, promotions, and wellness tips.
After more than 20 years in business, Khristy remains proud of what she’s built.
“We love what we do,” she says. “And we love the people we do it for.”

SMALL-TOWN CHIC
GLAMOUR AND GRACE BOUTIQUE CREATES STYLISH, AFFORDABLE LOOKS FOR EVERY WOMAN
Writer / Natalie Platt
For Chrissy Hitchcock, home has always meant more than a place on the map. She has called Tipton County home for most of her life, having graduated from Tri-Central High School and now living in Howard County, where her presence in the community continues to grow. Hitchcock recently opened Glamour and Grace Boutique, along with two business partners.
Their connections to the area run deep, and it’s home in every sense of the word to them.
Before Glamour and Grace Boutique came to life, Hitchcock and her partners were already familiar faces in the community.
“All three of us — Gina, Kinlee, and I — sell real estate with The Key Team at The Hardie Group,” she says. “But we were itching to create something new, creative, and fun.”
Their shared love for fashion became the spark.
“We’ve always loved the joy of finding that perfect outfit,” she says. “Opening the boutique was a way to blend our love of shopping, style, and connection with other women. There’s nothing better than helping someone feel confident and beautiful in what they wear.”
Support came quickly, both from their families and from the community.
“Our biggest supporters have absolutely been our families and spouses — they’ve cheered us on from day one,” she says. “And of course, our amazing customers. The loyalty and encouragement we’ve received since opening have meant the world to us. We’re incredibly proud of the community that has grown around our boutique — it feels like one big family.”
The Glamour and Grace story began in March 2024, when the team launched a boutique trailer in Kokomo.
“It took off faster than we ever expected,” Hitchcock says. By September 2025, they had grown into their first storefront in downtown Tipton. “It’s been such a fun and rewarding journey.”
Inside the store, shoppers can expect pieces that balance comfort, style, and affordability.
“Our goal is to make fashion fun, easy, and affordable for every woman,” she says. “We carry a curated mix of styles — from comfy loungewear and trendy athletic sets to denim, sweaters, statement tops, and seasonal pieces. Whether you’re dressing up for date night or keeping it casual on the weekend, we’ve got something you’ll love.”
With the holidays approaching, the boutique is embracing the festive season.
“You can find our boutique trailer at the Spooner Market on November 23,”
Hitchcock says. “Our Tipton storefront will be celebrating Black Friday and Small Business Saturday with special events, promotions, and plenty of festive vibes. We’re also extending our hours throughout the holiday season to make shopping even easier.”
Community involvement has always been part of their identity.
“Supporting our community has always been part of who we are,” she says. “We’ve sponsored local events and love donating gift certificates to area schools, fundraisers and organizations. Giving back to the same community that supports us just feels right.”
Opening a storefront in Tipton has brought things full circle for the Howard County native and her team.
“The support from the local shops and residents has been incredible — we’ve truly felt welcomed with open arms,” she says. “We’ve met so many wonderful people and built lasting friendships through this journey. Being part of the Tipton community is something we’re deeply proud of, and we’re excited for many more years of fashion, fun, and friendship ahead.”
