PERFORMANCE DRIVEN
GRAHAM RAHAL PERFORMANCE HEADQUARTERS
OPENS IN ZIONSVILLE
Writer / Ashley Callan
Photographer / Michaela Hoover
Graham Rahal used his passion and love for vehicles and motorcycles to create the foundation that he used to build his impressive entrepreneur portfolio. What started through the creation of Graham Rahal Performance in 2017 has grown into an empire.
Car and motorbike enthusiasts can start their engines and race - figuratively, not literally - to the brand-new, state-of-the-art Graham Rahal Performance headquarters facility in Zionsville.
Graham Rahal Performance headquarters is now open to the public. Explore and shop the showroom’s extensive collection of inventories from Graham Rahal Performance and Rahal Ducati Indianapolis. Vehicles and motorbikes can be repaired and enhanced at the full-service centers of Graham Rahal Performance, Rahal Ducati Indianapolis, Rahal Paint Protection and Rahal Precision Tint. Don’t have a luxury car but want to give your car a luxury experience? Graham Rahal Performance also offers routine vehicle maintenance services for standard vehicles.
In 2008 Rahal’s legacy began when he went on the circuit and won his first NTT
IndyCar Series race in St. Petersburg, Florida. Until 2019, he held the record for being the youngest winner of an IndyCar race.
Since 2013 Rahal, has been racing for the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team. The team is co-owned by Bobby Rahal, a three-time IndyCar champion and 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner, David Letterman, Indiana native and former “The Late Show with David Letterman” host, and Mike Lanigan, co-owner of Mi-Jack Products Inc.
Rahal started Graham Rahal Performance in 2017 in Brownsburg, and since then has grown his Rahal brand in central Indiana over the years to include Rahal Ducati Indianapolis, Rahal Piaggio Indianapolis, Rahal Paint Protection and Rahal Precision Tint. The Zionsville Graham Rahal Performance headquarters allows space to expand with the growth and success of these ventures.
Rahal, a New Albany, Ohio, native, has called Zionsville home since he bought his first home in 2021 in Holliday Farms. Being a Zionsville resident, and with new the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing headquarters in Creekside Corporate Park,
Rahal knew when he was consolidating his business operations to function under one facility that he was going to invest in the Zionsville community.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing relocated its racing operations in Ohio and Brownsburg to its brand-new headquarters in Zionsville. The 100,000-square-foot facility at Creekside Corporate Park was a $20 million development. The Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing headquarters is a world-class facility with plenty of office and work space for the automotive and manufacturing operations.
The new, state-of-the-art Graham Rahal Performance Headquarters is also located at Creekside Corporate Park. Creekside Corporate Park is a district of office buildings built near Creekside Nature Park and is Zionsville’s premier business district. To limit Creekside Corporate Park’s environmental impact, buildings built in this area utilize low-impact development, and Rahal is no different, using this initiative to collect rainwater to be reused to wash cars in the wash bay for Rahal Paint Protection. Graham Rahal Performance also opted to use insulated metal panels in the construction of the building, instead of
precast concrete. This insulation makes it more energy efficient.
Construction of Graham Rahal Performance’s Building 1 was completed in August - a 115,000-square-foot structure, with 85,000 square feet utilized for the Graham Rahal Performance and Rahal Ducati Indianapolis showrooms, and for service operations for Graham Rahal Performance, Rahal Ducati Indianapolis, Rahal Paint Protection and Rahal Precision Tint.
Graham Rahal Performance services include aftermarket installs, performance package upgrades and track builds, and detail services from Rahal Paint Protection and Rahal Precision Tint. Graham Rahal Performance also offers routine maintenance services including oil changes, wheel alignment, and tire balancing and mounting.
One of the nation’s leading specialty vehicle dealerships, the Graham Rahal Performance showroom showcases exotic and luxury cars from Porsche, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Lamborghini, as well as rare cars including the Rimac Nevera Time Attack and McLaren Elva. The showroom will
also feature Rahal Ducati Indianapolis, the exclusive Ducati motorcycle dealership and full-service center in Indiana. Rahal Ducati Indianapolis has an extensive inventory selection, and a service department with a knowledgeable staff with over 20 years of experience in the motorcycle industry. This space will also feature a stunning new Rivet Coffee Bar & Roastery set to open in September.
The 30,000-square-foot mezzanine space in Building 1 features dedicated office spaces for businesses operations including human resources, the social media and marketing staff, and the Graham and Courtney Rahal Foundation. Rahal’s former team owner, the late actor Paul Newman, was the driving force behind the Graham Rahal Foundation. The Graham Rahal Foundation was rebranded to the Graham and Courtney Rahal Foundation in 2019, which is dedicated to helping veterans and finding a cure for cancer. It has raised over $1.5 million dollars.
Building 2 is still under development and is almost complete. It will include Rahal Piaggio Indianapolis, WheelHouse Social and Bowdie’s Chophouse.
Rahal Piaggio Indianapolis is the exclusive Indiana Piaggio Motoplex dealership and full-service center, and is expected to open in early September. Rahal Piaggio Indianapolis will feature a wide variety of luxury options of Piaggio and Vespa scooters, and Aprilia and Moto Guzzi motorcycles. WheelHouse Social will be a luxury, members-only social club, and is expected to open in early fall. Bowdie’s Chophouse, owned and operated by Scott Bowdish, is expected to be completed in early 2025.
Once all the construction is complete, Graham Rahal Performance is expecting 40-plus jobs to be created.
Like the former Graham Rahal Performance in Brownsburg, this new facility will be used to actively engage in the community. There will be an inaugural Zionsville Cars and Coffee event on September 7, and guests are encouraged to follow their social media for updates and information regarding upcoming events.
LADIES & GENTS SPA
WHERE COMMUNITY AND BARBERING MEET
A quaint Zionsville barber shop has become a beloved community fixture, thanks to the passion and dedication of its owner, Jeni Sherrieb. Sherrieb’s journey into the world of barbering began in 1992, when she graduated and began exploring the beauty industry. In 2002 she fell in love with cutting hair, and has done it ever since. Sherrieb’s passion for barbering led her to establish her own shop, Ladies & Gents Spa, where she serves as the sole owner and operator, handling every haircut and every business transaction herself.
“I really like the feel of the barber shop,” Sherrieb says. “It’s a place where all generations are welcome. I do haircuts for the whole family.”
With haircuts priced at $30, and $25 for seniors, Sherrieb ensures her services remain affordable. Her specialty, a hot towel neck shave, is a classic touch that adds a bit of luxury to the grooming experience.
The vintage charm of Sherrieb’s barbershop sets it apart from others. The shop is adorned with antiques and handcrafted items, creating a cozy, nostalgic atmosphere. One of her customers crafted a table for the shop, and another provided an antique coat rack.
“Everybody’s been really helpful,” she says. “They even helped me put my sign up outside. It’s been really great to see everyone come together.”
The shop’s environment extends beyond its decor to the personal experiences Sherrieb fosters with her clients. “I give them a safe environment where they can discuss whatever they want to discuss,” she says. “That’s why I’ve been in here by myself.”
Her solo operation allows for a level of trust and connection that clients value.
A particularly touching moment in Sherrieb’s career came when she was setting up her shop. “I looked at this place on my lunch [break] and I noticed these antique built-in shelves,” she says. “One of my customers had said their dad was a barber, and that their mom had come across a box with his old things. So when I looked in the window, I saw those empty shelves and I knew what was going to go there.”
She surprised the customer by displaying the antique items on the shelves, which moved him deeply. “He teared up a little bit,” she says. “Smiled really big, took a picture and sent it to his mom. It made her day too, and I’ve never even met her!”
Sherrieb’s shop has also become a sort of community hub. “It’s like a coffee shop kind of meeting place,” she says. “Everybody sits around and has coffee and talks, runs into so-and-so - that type of feel.”
Sherrieb has stayed involved in her community’s local events and organizations. She has even been cutting Mike Pence’s hair
for years. “My haircut is on the front of his book,” she notes. The satisfaction of her clients is a significant reward for Sherrieb. “That’s been the most rewarding,” she says. This feedback reinforces her belief that her shop fills a vital role in the community.
Sherrieb’s personal journey is a testament to her dedication and vision. “I had always dreamed of having my own shop, but I never imagined living in the village or having my driveway on the bricks, let alone my shop,” she says. “I moved here just 30 days after opening. I just fell in love with the town.”
As Sherrieb continues to build on her vision, she remains deeply connected to the values that inspired her journey. Her shop is not just a place for haircuts; it’s a gathering spot where people come together, share stories and feel a sense of belonging. “I always give people vision boards as a gift,” she says.
She loves helping others see what is possible, just as she’s been able to realize her own dreams here in Zionsville.

Zionsville High School senior Max Phenicie is standing at the threshold of an exciting new adventure as he prepares to attend the prestigious West Point Academy in New York this spring. There, he will play NCAA Division I football as a linebacker.
Max’s acceptance to West Point marks the culmination of years of dedication, both in the classroom and on the field. He is finishing a successful career as a safety for Zionsville football, and has distinguished himself not just as an athlete, but also as a leader on and off the playing field.
MAX PHENICIE
“It was definitely a proud moment, not only for our family, but also for all the coaches who have helped him along the way,” says his father, Luke. “Recruiting has changed quite a lot with the transfer portal, and lots of verbal offers get thrown out to high school kids, most of which are not committable. So it was great to see the official letter from West Point.”
Max describes the full scholarship offer from West Point as a dream come true. “I am going to be able to go to a very prestigious school
with lots of great people and play the game I love,” he says. “It was also a huge relief to have committed somewhere before my senior season so I wouldn’t have to worry about it.”
Max plans to study management and pursue a military career. “I felt studying management would give me the best opportunity for whatever I decide to do,” he explains. “Once my time at West
Point is over, my career goal is to have a successful military career. I don’t know how much time I will spend in it, but I’m very excited to lead people as a second lieutenant in the Army. After my time in the Army, I would like to get into something on the finance side. I would love to be a CEO or create my own business to lead people, which attending West Point will help with.”
“Alongside football, he played basketball until his junior year, is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, and is a peer advocate for kids with special needs,” adds his mom, Jenni.
In addition to school activities, Max is a budding entrepreneur. He and his two younger brothers run a mowing business. “We have 12 lawns that we mow weekly, plus some lawns that we get asked to do occasionally,” he says. “It keeps my brothers and me busy alongside school and football. It’s a great way to make money and has given me great experience with running a business, teaching me time management and responsibility.”
Max’s younger brothers, Hank and Judd, also play football.
Max intends to make the most of his senior year. “I think the one thing I’ll miss in high school is just spending time with friends and being close to home,” he says. “I’m kind of a homebody and don’t like to leave home, so that will be a big adjustment from high school to college. However, I’m very excited for the opportunity and looking forward to the future.”
BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF GREATER INDIANAPOLIS PRESENTS
2024 CENTIER BANK HOME-A-RAMA
Writer / Christy Heitger-Ewing
September has arrived, and with that comes the 2024 Centier Bank Home-A-Rama home show, which features five luxurious show homes crafted by five of central Indiana’s premier custom home builders. This year’s show will span three weekends: September 12-15, 19-22, and 26-29, with tours taking place between noon and 8:30 p.m.
This year Home-A-Rama is at Henke Development’s Promontory of Zionsville, an upscale neighborhood that offers
residents the perfect blend of town and country. An equestrian-style community, Promontory has two-plus-acre estate homesites, rolling hills, beautiful trees, and an expansive 35-acre lake ideal for kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. While surrounded by nature, one is also minutes away from local attractions like the Grand Park Sports Campus, West Fork Whiskey Co., and Urban Vines.
This year’s builders are G&G Custom Homes, Kent Shaffer Homes & Randy
Shaffer Custom Homes, Old Town Design Group, Sigma Builders, and Wedgewood Building Company.
“This year’s show offers a unique experience with five fabulous builders and five very different showcase homes,” says Drake Branda, COO of BAGI.
G&G’s five-bedroom, five-and-one-halfbathroom, 8,000-square-foot modern European vineyard-style home features luxurious outdoor living spaces, including a
rooftop sky deck with glass doors, a covered porch off the great room with sliding pocket doors, a chef’s dream kitchen with adjoining catering kitchen, and lakeside views with a private boat slip.
A collaboration between Randy Shaffer Custom Homes and Kent Shaffer Homes offers a stunning, European cottagestyle waterfront home that’s 8,741 square feet, and includes six bedrooms, five full baths and two half baths. The house features a covered porch with motorized screens, lower-level bar and lounge with an outdoor pass-through countertop, gourmet kitchen with dual islands, custom backlit wine room, and large-scale glass that showcases floating stairs.
Old Town Design Group built a transitional European home with five bedrooms, five bathrooms and two half-bathrooms. The 8,000-square-foot home features timeless design elements including unique entertainment zones and open-concept spaces that enable an abundance of natural light and conversation, making the home feel big, bright and beautiful.
Sigma Builders’ transitional equestrian and Lexington contemporary design offers a 10,000-plus-square-foot structure with five bedrooms, five bathrooms and two half bathrooms. The home features a craft room, wine cellar, executive home office, and floorto-ceiling windows that highlight a view of the lake and an acre and a half of woods.
Wedgewood Building Company crafted a traditional, family-focused home, complete with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and one half bathroom. The 12,000-plus-squarefoot home boasts an extra kitchen and pantry, a fully finished basement with media area and theater seating, a game area, and a playroom. It also features a wraparound front porch and corresponding rear outdoor living area, complete with a fireplace, roll-up screens, a wet bar, and an upstairs loft and reading room.
During the show attendees can chat with the featured builders, in addition to mingling with suppliers and interior designers who helped bring these gorgeous homes to fruition.
Centier Bank is the title sponsor for HomeA-Rama. Additional sponsors include 84 Lumber, Lee Supply Corp., and McComb Window & Door Co., Inc. Bentley of Indianapolis is the auto sponsor. The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) is pleased to collaborate with partners who are dedicated to putting on an incredible home show. From landscaping and lighting to the development of the streetscape and the parking lot, dozens upon dozens of hours go into the prep work of the site and the event.
“This show highlights the amazing market we live in,” Branda says. “We work hard to make Home-A-Rama an experience, not just a home tour. Home-A-Rama highlights the camaraderie and partnerships we
have in the market as well as the exciting neighborhoods in development.”
In addition this year, BAGI is offering several special events. They’re hosting Wine & Design on Thursday, September 19, which will include hors d’oeuvres and wine, while guests can hear directly from the interior designers of each showcase home to learn about the latest in home design trends. Plus, Thursday, September 26 is Hometown Heroes Day, during which they’ll offer discounted tickets to veterans, police officers, firefighters, military personnel, health care workers, and teachers.
We wanted to add an event to show our appreciation to these special members of our community,” Branda says.
In addition, Friday, September 13 is Realtor Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., when realtors are invited to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at each show home.
Home-A-Rama tickets are sold in 30-minute time blocks, which helps to space out the traffic. Prices vary depending on your time slot. It’s $30 from noon to 3 p.m., $25 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and $20 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Virtual tickets are $10.
As in past years, there will be food and drink vendors on hand. Plus, Hittle has created a relaxation area for attendees.
“You can make it a date night or bring your family for a great time,” Branda says. “You
can spend an hour walking through houses or hang out for three hours.”
Because the neighborhood is so expansive, homes are set back a bit further than usual. Therefore, the Centier Bank trolley will make its rounds, along with regular golf carts, to transport attendees, but be sure to wear your walking shoes.
Homebuilders, interior designers and potential homeowners alike can benefit from attending this magnificent home show, designed to provide attendees with inspiration and a greater appreciation for the talent in central Indiana.
“This home show is truly a celebration of the industry,” says Branda.

PASSION FOR PROPERTY
HOME-A-RAMA 2024 WILL SHOWCASE HENKE DEVELOPMENT GROUP’S NEW PROPERTY, PROMONTORY OF ZIONSVILLE
Writer / Melissa Gibson
The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) will once again host Home-A-Rama over three weekends in September, and this time they’re visiting the new Henke Development Group property, Promontory of Zionsville.
Henke Development is behind some of the most popular communities in the area, including Chatham Hills, Bridgewater Club and Holliday Farms.
They’ve done it again in a space that some might call a retreat in your own backyard. At Michigan Road and County Road 200, just minutes away from the Grand Park Sports Campus, West Fork Whiskey Co., Urban Vines and more, visitors will get the chance to experience one of Henke’s most unique projects to date.
“This is a unique opportunity to see some of the beauty of the Zionsville equestrian and countryside area,” said Betsy Henke Garfield, development and acquisitions partner. “The development is centered around a 35-acre lake.”
It’s something Henke Development takes pride in - finding property that offers unique
amenities, building around it and preserving the natural terrain.
“We love to create incredible amenities that encourage active, family-driven lifestyle and this lake was already there,” Garfield said. “There’s fishing, electric watercraft allowed, nature and wildlife, and it’s all part of the private community for residents.”
A community marina house allows residents to store life jackets, fishing gear and other lakeside belongings, and soon residents will have a fitness center and swimming pool available.
As trends move toward getting outside, enjoying nature and a general appreciation for the natural landscapes around us, Garfield said watching people visit Promontory is nothing short of “magical.”
“A lot of people come to this show and sit by the water and relax there,” she said. “They walk through the homes and then take a break on the porches and patios. We love to roam and explore and we have incredible parks in the area, but you can watch that adventure side turn on in people, or the serenity side, and it’s in their backyard.”
Home-A-Rama will showcase five homes by custom home builders: G&G Custom Homes, Kent Shaffer Homes, Sigma Builders, Wedgewood Building Company and Old Town Design Group.
Not only are home buyers looking for large lots, large setbacks and beautiful outdoor amenities, but Garfield said another trend for the interior of the home is intentional thought about the future.
“I’m starting to see many people thinking about how this home will evolve over the next five to 10 years,” she said. “For example, this space may be an office today, but by connecting it to a full bathroom, it could be an in-law’s quarters if I need it one day.”
There’s an emphasis on entertainment, and while 10 years ago that may have taken the form of a man cave or basement theater, interest is now in firepits and pools, pickleball courts, and bringing the family’s passion into the home with them.
Buyers are also acutely aware of supply, and availability of properties like Promontory.
“There’s only going to be so much land
that is developable, and I think many are thinking, ‘I don’t know if I’ll be able to get two-and-a-half acres in this area in the future,’” Garfield said.
The Henke Development team is always thinking about how a property best serves the families living there.
Garfield and the Henke Development team think through every aspect of the layout when planning for amenities and outdoor environment.
“We’re asking, ‘What does this look like for the retired person,’ or, ‘What if it’s a family? Who is getting on a boat on the lake? Do we need a walking trail? What about fitness amenities? How does all of this work together for everyone?’” Garfield said. “Those discussions really drive the layout and concept planning.”
It’s all about the details and the feeling Henke Development is trying to capture for
residents.
“We want to develop a place that will stand the test of time,” Garfield said. “We’ve never gone into a property and said, ‘How many units can we fit in here?’ We want the space to feel comfortable and green and inviting.”
Garfield and the Henke Development team will be on hand throughout the home show. They regularly host private tours for friends and family to experience everything the property has to offer.
Follow Henke Development on Instagram for the latest announcements regarding the upcoming home show, or contact them directly at henkedevelopment.com.
Home-A-Rama 2024 will take place September 12-15, 19-22, and 2629. Purchase tickets at homearama. bagihomeshows.com.
Opening the Door to ExcellenceOVER
1,000 PROJECTS AND COUNTING
HOMETOWN WINDOW & DOOR COMPANY IS BUILT ON SUPERIOR SERVICE AND SELECTION
Writer / Christy Heitger-Ewing
Hometown Window & Door Company is owned and operated by Noblesville natives Darren Peck and Dan Hanlin. Hometown is a full-service Andersen window dealership located in Noblesville that was formed to offer Hamilton County residents with the entire product line of Andersen Windows and Doors, and the Andersen Certified Contractors to install them.
The dealership began in February 2022, when the group purchased local Andersen dealership Clevernest, and relocated to Noblesville. Since this acquisition, Hometown has contracted over 1,000
window and door projects, greatly increasing the value of residential and commercial properties all across Hamilton County.
“We could have sold any product we wanted, but we chose to sell Andersen products because it’s such a high-quality product,” says Darren Peck, co-owner of Hometown Window & Door. “You don’t end up being the oldest window and door company in the U.S. - Andersen started selling windows in 1903 - without having the highest-quality product on the market.”
Andersen is a fantastic product, but the product is not all that goes into a window and door project. The Hometown team also wanted to provide the consumer with a better customer service experience, complete with full-service, white-glove installation. Hometown Window & Door Company employs some of the top certified professionals in the industry. “As a young company, we are privileged to have such a highly qualified and experienced team,” Peck says. “From design consultants working with homeowners to our crews bringing the vision to reality, our team is top notch.”
WHAT’S HOT IN 2024: MASSIVE AND UNIQUE CONVERSIONS
If your home was built a decade or more ago, you may not have had access to the technology and variety of materials that are available from Andersen in 2024. Today, if you can dream it, Andersen can build it, and Hometown can install it. For example, Andersen can produce windows very tall and wide that will crank out! In the pictures provided, you will see arched windows that are 13-feet tall and 10-feet wide. These are builds that other manufactures cannot match. If they did, they wouldn’t be able to warranty the product. However, Andersen has mastered the art of manufacturing windows and doors.
“More often than not, the extremely large windows will actually save customers money because they end up purchasing a smaller quantity of windows from using Hometown’s conversion design techniques,” Peck said. “Instead of customers buying five windows, they are buying one window - half the cost and twice the view.”
“A lot of people have never seen anything like it,” he adds. “Most competitors’ windows can’t be made that big because the framing isn’t strong enough. Andersen products are superior. Plastic and vinyl windows just don’t hold up like an Andersen product.”
WHAT’S HOT IN 2024: DARK WINDOWS AND COLORED WINDOWS
Black windows are very trendy right now. However, homeowners have to be careful when purchasing windows with darker colors from just any window company. The dark colors hold a lot of heat, and if the framing material isn’t rated for large temperature fluctuations, they will warp. Warping windows is especially common in vinyl products of competitors of Andersen.
Andersen product lines use either Fibrex, fiberglass or extruded aluminum. These products hold up in a variety of environments and can be made in any color available without concerns about warping.
Color options in windows are also gaining popularity. The E-Series product line has more than 50 standard color options, which allows the team to do custom-looking windows for clients. Not only can you get 50 standard color options, but you can also make different parts of the window different colors without affecting cost. You truly can design a window around your home, instead of settling with whatever is available.
“The operable part of the window can be a different color than the frame, which can be a different color than the wrapping or the molding around the window,” Peck says. “In doing so, you can add a lot of subtle dimension to the project.”
The majority of the product lines carried by Hometown have historically not been made available for homeowners interested in remodeling. Traditionally, these product lines were only built by custom home builders and used when the home was constructed. Hometown has brought these options to the remodeling market and they are making waves. Customers absolutely love the finished product, as can be seen from their reviews.
HERE IS A SAMPLING OF WHAT HOMETOWN WINDOW & DOOR CUSTOMERS HAVE EXPERIENCED IN 2023:
Last year, Hometown Window & Door held an Ugly Window Contest that attracted more than 200 entrants.
“This was a great contest and customers really seemed to get involved,” Peck says. “Our team really enjoyed looking at the different entires submitted by our customers. There are definitely some very ugly windows and it was difficult to pick the winner.”
In November, Hometown narrowed down the entries to the 20 ugliest windows and selected one grand-prize winner. The customer received $10,000 worth of windows and doors installed by Hometown. The remaining 19 runners-up received a special promotion to replace the windows and doors in their submission.
The contest winner in 2022 replaced their
ugly window by altering the opening and installing a new patio door in their master bedroom. The 2023 winner chose to complete their entire house in addition to the portion that was completed from the contest. Hometown had such great responses to the contest, they are running it again in 2024. The 2024 winner will be selected in November.

Layers of light, a cornerstone of ILS’s philosophy, allow homeowners to customize their environment. Whether it’s a cozy evening by the fireplace or a vibrant dinner party, the right lighting can set the tone.

RG Decor’s reputation for full-service interior design and elegant furniture options continues to grow. “Anecdotally, we often hear people wish they knew about us before shopping at a big-box store,” King says. “Many people are surprised when they walk into our showroom about its uniqueness and how many things they fall in love with.”
RG Decor has established itself as an expert in interior design at every level, from choosing a new statement piece to a wholehome remodel.

We like to ask many questions about their home, its occupants and their goals. Once we understand their vision, we present them with a design plan and work closely
with them to bring it to life. It’s their money we’re using to make changes to their home, and we want them to love their home after we’re finished with their project.”

King says interior design trends come and go, but one she’s seeing more of for fall is incorporating more color into home decor. This can add vibrancy and personality to a space. Textures are also a big trend for the fall, and they can add depth and visual interest to a room. King says incorporating one piece, like a new rug, in a different color or texture, can be a fun way to change up the personal style of a home.
“We’re seeing people wanting to incorporate and embracing some of the more traditional furniture styles,” King says. “Also, not everything has to be just a clean line. There are some curves, so that makes things a little bit interesting, to have a bit more than just straight lines. And we’re seeing a little more personality than cold and gray, which has been popular in previous years.”
King says many people come to RG Decor
looking for help on how to incorporate these trends into their homes. What is en vogue comes and goes, but even small changes can make a huge difference. King says style is important, but a home has to be comfortable as well.
RG Decor works with homeowners who are custom-building their dream homes. The design team works alongside the builder to oversee the entire process. From selecting construction finishes to choosing wall coverings to planning all the furnishings, RG Decor is there step by step.
King’s passion for custom interior design and creating beautiful spaces has paid off. She has participated in six previous HomeA-Rama shows, walking away with the coveted People’s Choice Award twice.
RG Decor’s showroom is located at 4341 West 96th Street in Indianapolis, and is open to the public. For more information, visit rgdecor.com.

OAKS ON MAIN
WRITING A HISTORIC BUILDING’S NEW CHAPTER
Nestled at 109 West Main Street in downtown Lebanon stands a stately, rustic building that boasts over a century of history. Built in the late 1800s, this site has seen over a century of changes, acting as a market, a deli and more over the years. For the past decade it has remained vacant, awaiting its next chapter. Freedom Church has proudly taken on that role, transforming this historic building into Oaks on Main, a coffee shop and event center.
The journey began in August 2022 when the Boone County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) reached out to Freedom Church. The building owner was searching for someone to buy and revitalize the building, and Freedom Church was the first organization the EDC thought of.
Nathan Ayers, the business director at Freedom Church and the lead on this project, recalls the excitement of those early discussions. “We started having a ton of conversations internally at first,” he says. “We didn’t really think it was a possibility, but the more we talked about it, the more that we realized that it did fit into our vision of who we wanted to be for our city, and so we decided we’d do it.”
Finally, in December 2022 the purchase was finalized and Freedom Church was the official owner. Since then, the team has been diligently working to bring Oaks on Main to life.
Ayers values the importance of community, and envisions Oaks on Main as a community cornerstone. In addition to serving coffee, Oaks on Main will host events on its upper floor, including church gatherings and after-school programs. “It can be a second home for some people, a space that brings joy and comfort into people’s hectic lives,” he says.

Oaks on Main plans to partner with various local bakeries and vendors to keep their food local and fresh. While the coffee shop is still under construction and anticipated to open in 2025, the Oaks Mobile espresso cart is already serving coffee for those not wanting to wait.
The interior of Oaks on Main will reflect the beauty and historical charm of its outside walls. “It’s going to be beautiful,” Ayers promises. “We’re preserving many of the historic elements like the tin ceilings on both floors, and a large skylight upstairs that spans around 30 feet long and 10 feet wide.” The design will blend these historical features with new wooden pallets and abundant greenery. “I think it’s going be a space that makes people want to come back.”
The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Support from both city officials and local residents has been invaluable. “We’ve received tremendous support,” Ayers says. “Seeing how excited people are for this, and the way that people are rallying behind it, has been really wonderful.”
This support is exemplified by the Boone County EDC’s 180 Makeover program, which provides funding to select businesses. Oaks on Main was one of five downtown Lebanon businesses to benefit from this initiative.”When we found that out, we were ecstatic,” Ayers says. “It was incredible.”
Oaks on Main is slated to open in early 2025. In the meantime you can enjoy their coffee at Oaks Mobile at Freedom Church every Sunday, and at organizations like Dull’s Tree Farm. For more information, visit oaksonmain.com.
