Rātā Vine Regeneration
Community Centre + Townhouse Design
2023
This project brief requested a design that would regenerate Rātā Vine. The area is flood prone, its houses are old and damaged, there is a lack of community connection, and residents do not feel safe there. My design proposes a cohesive solution to these issues in a new community centre and townhouses. The Rātā Vine Community Centre has been designed alongside the new townhouses with the goal to revitalise the neighbourhood and foster a greater sense of community. It serves as a gathering space for residents to connect, develop relationships, and engage in meaningful activities. When Rātā Vine is made more vibrant, residents will feel safer as passive surveillance will be present. The townhouse design is a replacement of the neighbourhood's current dwellings that are advanced in years and damaged from previous floods. As opposed to traditional designs, my townhouses are placed on stilts to protect users, their dwellings, and belongings from raised water levels.
Puketeraki Lodge Design
Puketeraki Lodge was designed to support the area’s hunting industry, camping trips, and cultural activities. The proposal features accommodation for local hunters to use while they are away from home, and a meat processing room to support their work. Accommodation can also be occupied by other locals who wish to partake in camping. A multipurpose gathering space is usable for a range of activities, including cultural practices such as the community’s Matariki observances. Adjacent to this space is a communal kitchen that can be used for gatherings.

Te Mīhana Māori - The Church of the Holy Sepulchre Community

The brief wanted a design solution that would provide housing for the church’s community. This design proposal provides apartments above a mix-use ground floor, that together enhance connectedness among residents. The mix-use floor has meeting rooms, a childhood daycare, and a yoga space that collectively provide a vibrant and diverse atmosphere. A part of the project was produced in a group (the building concept), and the rest individually (the ground floor internal/external).

Bathhouse
AUT WW Building Basement Renovation 2022
This project is a regenerative design for the AUT WW building basement. As per the brief, the basement has been renovated to become a bathhouse. Its combination of indoor and outdoor relaxation areas have resulted in a unique retreat for the university students.
The Panmure Residential
Apartment Building & Observation Tower
2024
The brief for this project required a design that would contribute to a revamped Panmure where mauri ora is achieved. A lack of community vibrancy, urban ngahere and housing variety (a nationwide issue) are problems that must be addressed in the suburb. Within my design, these issues have been mitigated via the inclusion of housing variety, social areas, urban ngahere, an observation tower that connects residents with Maungarei for its cultural significance, and a performance space available for the local dance school and other residents to use.
